    I didn't see the analog being set, I am guessing it was done off camera. This demonstration really shows how to make a perfect swell. Thanks Antoine.

      For the analog, it was pretty much the same settings as the first delay, just a different time!

    Thank you for this video as I have a triple delay, and not sure, but running in serial makes perfect sense! 😊

I feel so confused about how to make ambient sound with this pedal, but this video was answer my question. If i want to use ambient with 2 pedal set on serial, and i want to use analog delay set on paralel in channel 3. It can??? Thank you bro

    Thumbs up for Converse type shoes that should be default for every pedal demo.
    I have that pedal but I rather use it for deconstruction (ahem, destruction) of tone till I have guitar sound like harmonica...or something. Cheers!

    Great video, I don’t have this particular pedal but I have been playing around with multiple delays in series and this is very helpful. Thanks! So it begs the question: do you prefer delay like this or reverb for ambient swells?

      Feed multiple delays into a reverb for ambient swells.

    Another very useful sketch Antoine. Just wondering if you have retired your Strymon Timeline? I still have mine but haven't been using it that much lately. This TC Flashback looks like it's much easier to navigate.

      No! I swapped my Timeline with the Volante, because it's new and cool! But now the Timeline is back on my board. I'm presently recording my new album and it's easier for me to use my existing presets on the Timeline, and go! It's a phase where it's better to focus on songwriting and creativity instead of turning knobs for me right now :-)

    How does this technique differ from using a swell reverb, like on a Strymon Big Sky?

    • @dougc84
      @dougc84 5 років тому +1

      Reverb and delay are two separate things. Delay is basically a copy of your signal, repeated. In his swells, you can sometimes hear a little bit of a delay sound with it. Reverb, on the other hand, is the diffusion of your signal over time. You won't get any of those "little bit of delay" sounds when doing swells, but it is often a little less colorful. Additionally, with a "swell" setting on the Big Sky, you don't have control over how long you want your swells to fade in for, nor the dynamics hitting the front end of the reverb (longer swell = quieter overall sound due to the natural decay of the guitar).
      They sound different and act different. If you're content with a swell reverb sound, then great! If not and you're looking for different things to try, stacking delays is super cool. Or delays into reverbs. Or reverbs into delays. The great thing about stacking is you get different flavors depending on which pedals you choose to use - one that creates modulation on the tails is going to create a warble or chorus effect in this kind of scenario, for example.

    What brand are that kind of cables to connect pedals?

      I use George L's patch cables, and Mogami Gold instruments cables.

    Did you check out the MERIS Polymoon delay? MERIS has been founded by Terry Burton, former Strymon co-founder, just to give you an idea of the quality you can expect. Here's a beautifull demo, the one that led me to buy one:

    Hope you'll get one so we can get your advice about and hear the music you'd do with.
