    Nice no BS video: My current setup: ResMed Airsense 10 CPAP, ResMed DC/DC converter, Two Powersonic 18ah SLA batteries in parallel (36 ah) Battery Minder smart 12v charger. I turn off humidifier and heated hose. Just gave me 3 nights CPAP power, end voltage was 12.35 volts after 3 nights. Might have gone another night. I keep batteries connected to charger continuously when not in use. BTW, I use two of the same SLA batteries in my mobility scooter. Might find a way to plug ResMed DC/DC converter into scooter battery pack, same 24 volts DC. I use this setup for short stay motorhome "boondocking" and for power outages.

    Thanks for the video. I am a retired electrician. I dont have one of these yet. Only had one outage where i needed one. Anytime you see a power brick think waste of power. A solution that has the batteries at the proper voltage that does not require a brick would be ideal and incidentally cheaper.

      So would a marine cell be even better than this Li battery pack in terms of potential power output? I thought that you were a River Boat captain...from one of your videos I watched a long time ago.

    • @NYHalfassprepper
      @NYHalfassprepper 5 років тому

      @@Freecpapadvice a deep cell marine battery stores a good amount of energy, they are relatively cheap, available anywhere and can be charged with off the shelf chargers. That being said they come with a lot of weight because they are lead based. Lithium ion solutions are generally lighter, since they ard made up of a lot of small cells that are wired together they are more problematic and require specialized charging circuits. The point that i was making is that any solution that uses a brick other than to charge is a waste of power. If you have a 12v battery. Invert to power to 120v then back down to 12v, that would be a waste of power and would not last as long a just a battery direclty running a cpap. I think there are some custom builders on ebay making these.

I've messed with Lipo batteries because of how light weight they are but struggle to find one with enough capacity to last a night or two. Something like this may do the trick.

    Firstly, Love your videos, have learnt a heap about cpaps. So I recently purchased a similar one of these, it was the AIMTOM 155w. I have the Resmed Airsense 10 Auto. Also purchased the DC Adapter. Silly me went camping without having tested it. Evern with humidifier turned off, I only got 3.5 hrs out of the AIMTOM before it was dead flat. Thankfully people nearby had an inverter and extension cored so we tapped into their power.

      Watts don't matter. It's the mAH or watt hours. Its more a measure of the power output and how long it lasts for said output.

      @@Freecpapadvice Hey,, So I figured out it was my mistake. Newbie error.
      I had turned the humidifier off but did not realise I had to turn off the tube temperature. I have the climate control tube and it was still on. Used the Aimtom last night with both humidifier and tube temp off, got through an 8 hr sleep and the battery is still almost fully charged. I plan to run it for a few nights to see how long it lasts.

      @@tinaroyce5498 Hey Tina. I purchased the aimtom 155w portable power machine. But this was specifically for camping. With humidifier off and heated hose off I get 2 nights if lucky. However this probably isn't your best option for home.
      For home you would be better at looking at a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) that you can keep connected to the machine at all times to cover you when there is power outages.
      I'm not and expert on these so recommend you speak to a local battery place or someone that specialises in these.

    Hi, I have the Respironics Remstar Auto A-flex System one, it comes with one of those inline power bricks. Will this Power Supply unit work with my machine? And I would be using it as a UPS plugged in 24/7 in case of a power outage, which adapter would I need to run on the DC mode? I'm assuming The "Power Brick"would remain inline in AC mode but will it be in DC mode?

    I don’t know about that particular unit but you really want to make sure the power supplied is pure sine wave for delicate electronics such as ventilators, they are very sensitive electronics and they cost a fortune, you really don’t want to risk damaging it.

      If you are asking if you can plug into an Inverter outlet that some cars now have, sure. Just be aware it will leave you with a dead battery. If you get the device specific adapter and plug into a cig lighter, you will get a lot more from your car battery.

    Hi, I work in East Africa from time to time. I'm leaving soon on my 1st trip since using a CPAP. On my last trip, there was "real" electricity only about 4 days out of 30. My hotel will run a generator for me about 4 hours in the early evening to power up my devices. Can I power up this battery on 240 current without using a "step down" converter and only using a simple AC plug adapter? And, is it TSA approved for international flights? I need to know quick since I'm leaving next week!

    I use a Respironics RemStar with heated humidifier (necessary, I do not tolerate low humidity), old school. The AC adapter transformer shows 100-240v, 1.70 amps.
    I have Georgia Power service (if 'service' is the word) that has gone out several times in the past few weeks, always overnight, and always for four hours or more.

    Hi Sir, maybe I'm doing a damn question, this product says that the DC output is 12V, but the resmed air10 is 24V, it will not this effect and burn the battery or maybe affect the efficiency de of the cpap machine?

    • @steveswoodworking2504

      You need a DC power converter to convert 12v to 24v. The link Jason has in the video description doesn't seem to have it any longer. You can find them on Amazon. For example KFD has one that specifically mentions it is for Resmed machines for far cheaper than the Resmed one. Maybe Jason will add one of his Amazon affiliate links for this.

    Well done. Great vid. I just did my research and bought a similar unit (a suaoki s270). Now I guess I bneed to scrape together another 100 for tge resmed s10 dc adapter. One thing I have been reading is that the humidifier apoarently might get cooked unless the power supply works in some sinewave form. Apparently the heat plates are reliant on a special cycle or something. I'm not sure if its dated info, but I guess I will find out...

    Ok, I have an Airesense s9. The Dc converter is like $90 cdn and a decent Chinese battery is going to cost almost $250-300. Would I not be better off buying something like the Maxoak K5 that comes with the DC cables and I can get on Amazon for like $330 cdn?
    Just wondering cause nobody really covers dc vs ac and humidifier vs not on these products. I know you did that other vid I've seen but damn the info out there is confusing as hell. Is everyone basing their stats on basically using the CPAP with the AC plug and a humidifier? It's a little shocking to see how much longer you can get out of a CPAP using dc.
    Also, do you know or where I can find the amp rating of a ResMed S9 without a humidifier? I can find the info on newer machines but my S9 there is very little that I've found.

    I'm not sure why you say using the 12V DC output on the Paxcess battery pack is twice as efficient as using the 110AC output. Is it because the output of the Paxcess battery pack (presumable the native 12V DC from the pack's battery) is only going through 1 voltage conversion instead of 2? That is: 12V DC to 110 AC to 24V DC required for the Resmed 10 versus 12V DC to 24V DC? Thanks

    • @Freecpapadvice
      @Freecpapadvice  5 років тому

      I don't think I said "twice as efficient", but if I did it was a mistake. It is more efficient though. I'm not sure why, but the lack of voltage conversion is the likely reason.

    I need something that I can keep plugged into the wall and my ResMed plugged into it and it will keep my CPAP powered without accessing the battery on a daily basis thereby draining the overall life of the battery.This looks like a good option barring the price.
