  • If you don't have time to make breakfast in the mornings, Overnight Oats are a meal prep game-changer. Healthy, delicious, and super easy to prep - you can have a work week's worth of breakfast prepared in minutes. I especially love them because they keep me feeling full for hours.
There are a ton of different and fun flavours to try - here I'll show you 6 of my favourite overnight oats flavour combinations, everything from bold and decadent to fruity and tropical.

NOTE #1: For all recipes, refrigerate overnight for the best texture - but if you don't have time, make sure to refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours. The longer they soak, the softer and creamier they'll taste!
NOTE #2: While there are different types of oats, Rolled Oats are ideal for Overnight Oats:
► Rolled Oats have been cooked, dried and rolled flat
► Steel Cut Oats are RAW and need to be cooked first (for roughly 30-40 mins) before consumption
► Quick Oats are rolled oats that have been cut into thinner, smaller flakes - making them too mushy for Overnight Oats and not ideal
    --------------------
1 serving of BASE OATS contains: 310 calories, 12g protein, 45g carbs, 6.5g fat, 14g sugar, and 7g fibre. This is based on using unsweetened almond milk.
    BASE OATS (1 serving):
    Combine and refrigerate overnight:
    ► Rolled oats (1/2 cup)
    ► Chia seeds (1 tbsp)
    ► Milk (1/2 cup)
    ► Greek yogurt (1/4 cup)
    ► Maple syrup (1 tbsp)
BASE OATS (4 servings for meal prep):
    Combine and refrigerate overnight:
    ► Rolled oats (2 cups)
    ► Chia seeds (1/4 cup)
    ► Milk (2 cups)
    ► Greek yogurt (1 cup)
    ► Maple syrup (1/4 cup)
    --------------------
    FLAVOUR #1 - BANANA BREAD
First, prepare banana puree by mashing a ripe banana until it softens into a puree.
    Refrigerate ingredients:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
    ► Banana puree
    ► Ground cinnamon (1/2 tsp)
    ► Vanilla extract (1/2 tsp)
    Add toppings:
    ► Banana slices
    ► Maple syrup
    ► Chopped walnuts
    --------------------
    FLAVOUR #2 - PB&J (PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY)
    Prepare raspberry puree:
► In a saucepan over medium heat, combine raspberries (1 cup), maple syrup (1 tbsp), and vanilla extract (1/2 tsp)
► Whisk and stir until it softens into a smooth puree consistency
    ► Set aside to cool
    Refrigerate ingredients overnight:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
    ► Raspberry puree
► Natural peanut butter (2 tbsp)
    Add toppings:
    ► Raspberries
    ► Chopped walnuts
    ► Maple syrup
    --------------------
    FLAVOUR #3 - PINA COLADA
    Refrigerate ingredients overnight:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
    ► Pineapple chunks (1/4 cup)
    ► Coconut flakes (1 tbsp)
    Add toppings:
    ► Pineapple chunks
    ► Coconut flakes
    ► Chopped walnuts
    --------------------
    FLAVOUR #4 - MOCHA LATTE
    Refrigerate ingredients overnight:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
► Espresso (1-2 shots) or coffee (1/4 cup)
    ► Cocoa powder (1 tbsp)
    ► Pinch of salt
    Add toppings:
    ► Chopped walnuts
    ► Coconut flakes
    ► Crushed chocolate
    --------------------
FLAVOUR #5 - CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CUP
    Prepare chocolate syrup:
► Melted coconut oil (1 tbsp)
    ► Cocoa powder (1 tsp)
    ► Maple syrup (1 tsp)
    ► Pinch of salt
    Refrigerate ingredients overnight:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
    ► Peanut butter (2 tbsp)
    ► Cocoa powder (1 tbsp)
► Chocolate syrup (pour over top of oats mixture)
    Add toppings:
    ► Blueberries and/or raspberries
    --------------------
FLAVOUR #6 - LEMON BLUEBERRY PIE
Use 1 lemon to prepare lemon juice and lemon zest
    Refrigerate ingredients overnight:
    ► Base oats (1 serving)
    ► Blueberries (1/4 cup)
    ► Lemon juice (2 tbsp)
    ► Lemon zest (1 tsp)
    ► Vanilla extract (1/2 tsp)
    Add toppings:
    ► Blueberries
    ► Hemp hearts
    ► Coconut flakes
*NOTE: For this recipe, make sure not to use cow milk with lemon, as the combination will cause curdling and result in an unpleasant texture. Use other types of milk, like almond, cashew, etc. instead.

If you dont normally use cup measurements it isnt necessary to use otherwise here unlike baking. But if you dont want to use cups, you wouldnt use mls for dry ingredients. For me, half a cup of rolled oats weighs 57gms.

These are some FANTASTIC ideas. I like to make cranberry orange overnite oats. To the base oats, add about 1/8cup dried cranberries soaked in the juice and zest of half of a large orange, or about 3 tbsp orange juice. I also add about 1 tbsp ground flax seed, it adds fiber and a slightly nutty note.

    • @toastyapron

I'm usually spontaneous about what I want for breakfast. If I want muesli I'm making it fresh - but sometimes put it in the microwave for a minute.
Not the same - but I like it more crunchy. 🤗
You can also add frozen berries good this way. Or a jam, different nuts and seeds.
Kakao or honey if you want it sweet 🍫🍯
But mostly my ratio for fruit to muesli is almost 50/50 so making it fresh makes more sense.
I could try some overnight varieties -I like the chia seeds, but they really need a few hours not just minutes 😅

I love using bobs red mill muesli in place of oats. Also, roasting the pineapple in advance makes it extra sweet and you can dial back the added sweetener. My super fast way is using frozen berries. Saves time because you don’t have to wash them and saves money too. I buy a 3 lb bag of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries from Costco for around $11.
Adding the yogurt is key to making it creamy and satisfying.

I love your recipes. Thank you so much for bringing overnight oats to my attention again. I love taking the jar to work and having this for lunch.
If I put in fruit, I don't sweeten it, because the fruits give so much flavor and sweetener to the mix after the night.
A game changer for me btw: adding a small cinnamon stick into the mix overnight instead of powder. It's such an intense flavour but not overpowering

Topped with a wee bit of date and walnut chop. Apple and raisin would have also worked, but I love dates. Coconut and chopped dried apricot would also be nice. This is incorrect as far as I can tell. Do you have a specific academic study you are citing or is this “folk wisdom”? The best studies I could find suggested that a phytase be added to dry oats prior to reconstituting them. If you have an actual study with a cohort that demonstrates “rinsing” oats as a method I am interested. Allegedly making overnight oats without refrigeration helps them ferment, rescuing phytates.

That's awesome! I've been on this breakfast journey for about a year as well, and I must say it's been a game-changer. Your personalized touch with liquid Erythritol, canned coconut milk, flax seed, and nutmeg sounds divine. It's incredible how the keto lifestyle allows for such flexibility while keeping things delicious.
Your addition of nuts, seeds, and fruits is a brilliant way to enhance both flavor and nutrition. It's fantastic that even after a year, you're still in love with your breakfast creation-I can totally relate.
Speaking of keto, one of the aspects I truly appreciate is the sustained energy throughout the day. The focus on healthy fats and nutrient-rich foods not only keeps you satisfied but also helps in maintaining mental clarity and sharpness. It's like a secret weapon for a productive and energetic day.
In the spirit of your year-long keto breakfast love affair, here's a motto to keep the positive vibes rolling: "Start your day with a keto smile, and let the energy carry you through mile after mile!" 🌞💪🥥
