@@elperrodelautumo7511 i think it's totally valid to criticize Deadly Alliance in the 20+ years since its release. the facts are that it hasn't aged super well graphically or gameplay-wise. and Deception totally blew it out of the water in terms of content now all that being said, you bring up a great point. Deadly Alliance is one of the weirdest games in the franchise for me. I remember being a kid and watching my brother insert the disc. We waited excitedly as the game loaded up and were blown away to see a fully rendered opening cutscene! And then… Lui Kang died. We were shocked, and the experience left me scared of playing the game. I don’t know if it was because of the mysterious music or narrator, but there was an overall feeling of uneasy to the scene. Lui Kang’s death didn’t help with this feeling either! Eventually, I began playing the game after getting over my fear. It was so exciting to see the series transition into a fully 3D experience. The new combat system and graphics blew my mind. Even better was the krypt, which we spent many hours exploring and unlocking awesome collectibles. It was the Mortal Kombat gams I grew up with, so I’ll always hold a fondness for it. However, as I’ve gotten older, I slowly realized that the game kind of sucks. The character roster sucks in all honesty, with basically every new character being lame in my opinion. Furthermore, the Conquest mode was boring and forgettable, a far cry from what it would evolve into. When you really look at it, there isn’t much content. And don’t even get me started on the horrible fatalities, most of which seemingly go on forever. But even with these issues, I still love this game! It did so much for the series and its significance can’t be underestimated.

"Fun" fact: The neck stretch fatality is Ed Boon's least favorite. And yeah, Li Mei was arguably the series' most forgettable woman until MK1 offered her some much-needed identity. Fingers crossed she's got decent story presence, too. Gotta agree that Frost is also a very weak character, I don't really understand why she's among the more popular 3D era characters. Li Mei most forgettable woman? I dunno about that one. I mean as far as forgettable you have...Khameleon and Kira. Ferra is lame. Hell, I'd even put Li Mei over Kronika just because of how freaking lame of a character and villain Kronika was in MK11. Kronika may have had a big presence in the story, but it didn't make her good in my book. And I don't see how MK12 (or MK1) gave Li Mei any identity. If anything, it made her more visually bland which seems to be the game's overall theme regarding character designs with MK12. But yeah, Frost sucks. Never understood why people liked her.
@@IkariMetalSlugger Li Mei went from "throwaway magical martial arts girl" to "first constable of outworld's capital who kicks your ass with fireworks". She's fucking baller in MK1 and I say that from experience now, her only flaw is her brutalities are all decapitations. Kronika is also lame as fuck but she's hardly a nobody like Li Mei once was. We're comparing a main antagonist to cookie cutter roster filler from over a decade ago
Tbh. I have a special place in my heart for DA. I got it for Christmas the year it came out. It was the silver lining to the shitshow that was 2002 in my family.
I tackled the Konquest mode for 2 days straight. Raiden and Cyrax gave the most trouble due to their kombos being very stringy. So glad I didn't have to do it anymore when I was done.
There's no way you have less than 1 million subs bro! Love this series and always watch them as soon as I can! Good shit bro, can't wait for more content.
I know I’m a whole month off but it’s great seeing you play and give your opinion on all of these games. I grew up playing these without actually paying attention. Now that I’m older it’s great to see how it was for you playing it for the first time and the struggles we all went through lol. Thank you for these videos
As much as you want to hate Hsu Hao, he's one of the best characters in the game and arguably the toughest A.I character to fight. Has an OP Style Branching Combo that takes away half of your health, safe normals and chains, good mixups, and grapples.
I'm always think that he's very unique and came in the right place but wrong time. If he came since original MK1-3 He may have a character development or gradually upgrade in character designing as time passes. I saw fan MK game that have him as a digtized sprite and he's very awesome and much better (Along with Drahmin) I don't know why some people can make him 100x better but Boon & Tobias can't.
I haven't forgotten about it. I think it's way better than anything NRS has ever done. Memorable soundtrack (arguably the best IMHO), incredible characters and even my UA-cam handle is Drahmin backwards. It made a lifelong impression on me.
Dawg I dont have this one but I have that trilogy bundle of Deception, Armageddon and Shaolin Monks from Walmart and had this sitting in my collection barely touching it in like 2 decades (probably didn't touch Armaggedon at until until a few months ago) and didnt know this era went this hard. They don't make em like this no more.
Ending section feels like I'm laying on a bed in the background while seeing you unlock random stuff on the Krypt and talk about your experiences till now, that 4AM vibe is great, reminds me of sleepovers I used to have with friends
This game has been and always will be my FAVORITE of the series. I loved the story and overall ambience of this era and miss this level of care and creativity in the modern games.
This was my first MK. I remember playing it on the xbox and I had no clue what I was doing. I was a young teenager and just played it because blood and muscle guys, which was something I was very much into. I really like this video format btw, long videos that showcase all the ladder endings and with a peppered opinion. Thanks!
Reptile was always my favorite character, which hurt cause i hated his design since MK4. So glad he finally looks good again in the new one Also was the Kitana section without audio for anyone else, aside from the ending?
@@FreddyJenkins better design for sure, but still not quite what I wanted. It was a step in the right direction but still was too much of a big lizard. I get why some might like it but I really dont, and the shapeshifter is my favorite direction/compromise for him
deadly alliance is literally peak mk, alongside deception. bthe fact they both have characters and stages the other don't makes them feel like two sides of the same coin to me
This game is dope. It's the only one with the music video in it. Plus that bound is alright They actually got pretty good songs Apart from the one in this game
Between Deadly alliance, Deception and Armaggeddon, I always will stay with deadly alliance... I don't know, I feel like it seems a lot more darker than the other ones... And thinking the fact it came out in 2002 and it looks like that makes me crazy
I was grinding characters in MK1 in invasion while watching this. I appreciate your videos keep up the good work. I watched the whole thing. You just chatting in the krypt was very wholesome
I remember spending hours in the Krtpt with my bros and having to write numbers down and having to remeber the coffins where located. No internet to do all this just alot of muscle memory and dedication, this game is really special to me growing up and mortal kombat in general
yes completely forgettable...... when they literally kill off lui kang in the intro cinematic. I was stunned even before i started playing. and it was lore that you even see recurring even in the present games. Even the last part of the current game is a call back to this game
I think it’s crazy that like a month ago I just randomly wanted to play the old MK games from ps2 like deadly alliance or Armageddon ect. And I was thinking I was probably the only person playing these games rn because I felt like they were forgotten and I randomly wake up to this video playing on Yt on my Xbox today and I started watching and I was like I was literally just playing these games not too long ago. Idk I might sound stupid but i thought it was cool. Good video man keep them coming ❤ I also subbed
I personally love this crypt style and being as much to it as there is. 676 coffins. Insane. And the animation each time makes you just hope for something good like a wheel spin. I wish they would bring this style crypt back for a game.
You're pretty entertaining in my opinion. People who subscribed are proud of you and what you're doing. Don't question yourself, it's hard to not wonder why, but the answer is quite simple: we like your videos.
Is no one going to ask why kitanas part doesn’t have any sounds ? Anyway I completely agree that this game has probably the most forgettable new comers in the series like mavado , hsu hao and frost feel so one dimensional at least it does handle the old characters well . Personally tho i believe that Nitara and li mei are interesting at least in this game i personally think that mk 1 did gave li mei a better and more interesting not only visual clarity and better moves with her whole purple tiger and fire works but I feel like nitara is just another NPC in both this game and mk 1
@@bips_lover deception and deadly alliance had a 50/50 with their newcomers if were being honest. Kenshi, Li Mei, and Bo’ Rai Cho are the best in deadly alliance. Havik, Ashrah, and Hotaru are good/mid newcomers in deception. everyone else sucked-were mid. Nitara is fine. MK1 did her very dirty and it’s sad cause all she needed was some new identity (and a better voice) like they gave Ashrah and Li Mei. Though i think if we’re to revisit Seido in future games i think Darrius may also be interesting to revisit again. All in all, I think deception has mostly interesting newcomers because most of them were from new realms (Seido and Chaosrealm) that we had a chance of visiting in Konquest like the previously mentioned Havik, Darrius, Hotaru, and Dairou. deadly alliance just had humans and a vampire as newcomers… insanely boring.
I just found you today and watched 3 videos thus far, this one being the third, and I heard your little rambles about doing UA-cam stuff. I'm all smiles listening to you talk about your journey dude. I'll stick around and see what else you make!
This game brought mortal kombat back from the dead, this and deception being the two I spent the most time in but I played them all. when this game was out it was fire and all my friends enjoyed it, grinding and seeing what all you could unlock from the krypt was pretty awesome also.
I watched the entirety of this video and your ramblings and appreciated every minute of it. It’s clear you worked hard on this video and you’re giving me all the nostalgia with these MK throwbacks. I love it. I watched deception and now this one, and next I’ll watch the MK4 one too. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber. Keep being you man
I actually liked this one, but the one that let you free roam in Konquest mode was my favorite of the PS2 era. Shaolin Monks was great as well, given you had a sibling/friend to play couch co-op with you.
At the time of Deadly Alliance release, I was starting to know the Gamecube in person (I only saw it in magazines), and because I was used to n64 graphics, I was blown away by Deadly Alliance graphics. But the gameplay felt totally alien, Scorpions Spear and Sub-Zero ice ball was there, but much less effective. The 3d arena was nothing new, but it was for MK (MK4 has 3d arenas, but the side step is much more an extra detail that nobody used than an active part of the gameplay like Mk5, 6 and 7). My feelings were mixed at the time. Today, I appreciate it a lot more (and I like it more than Deception, except for the adventure part, which is amazing on Deception and only an extended tutorial on Deadly Alliance), I liked that they removed Babalities and Friendships, continuing the MK4 trend to be more serious. The only problem is only ONE fatality per character, weird decision, really. If at least, they put the effort to make those single fatalities astonishing, ok, but it's not the case, most of them are strange or generic. But gameplay, graphics, sounds, it's very cool, nice game.
I’ve just finished watching this whole video and I didn’t expect to relate to you quite so much. I’m 18 years old and have wanted to work on UA-cam for a while now too. Unfortunately I’m only able to edit from my phone and that limits my capabilities, you really did speak to me in your unscripted segment though, keep up the great work man.
@@b2bgood870 Absolutely, but when this game came to PS2, it definitely brought a different feeling to Mk. Liu Kang died, Shang Tsung & Quan Chi teamed up, new attire, etc. The fatalities were trash I can admit that.
Speaking as an old guy who played these games back when they first came out, im curious to see an honest opinion from a younger generation. Your "rambling" for the last half of the video is also insightful so thanks for sharing. 1:18:37
Listening to you rage was the best thing bro it took my back i thought i was the only one who was raging playing as Hsu Hao and thats why he became a joke character all the way toll 11 when Erron the bag down and his head rolled out hated him too.

I remember those weekend grinding this game out Looking for characters and costumes Although back then it wasn't considered a grind It was called, you know, having fun like how it should be. Back when everything. Wasn't meant for internet But merely just to have fun and enjoy the game Internet has A positive and negative effect on gaming Today But that's probably a conversation for another time
That Krypt tho lol The way I used to distinguish characters and skins from the rest of the b s Was based off the prices on the coffins If it was cheap It was most likely Some b s If the coffin was expensive Usually it was a Character, alt skin, Or some cool video
It always tripped me out though how this is the onlyMK Game without a cinematic Ending after you beat the boss It's like Any other match Like okay I won that's it No cinematic explosion Like all the others
I watched to the end and I was laughing when you mentioned that there might only be one person watching falling asleep or just waking up to you speaking. I was working overnight and just had the video playing in my ear. Felt like you kept me company while working. Hahaha.
Yeah it sucks the audio was missing, here’s what I wrote in the script about her: Kitana has never been the most interesting character ever for me. She’s not bad or totally uninteresting, just doesn’t do much for me. I will say though, she feels pretty good in this game. I did have a bit of issue in konquest during the mirror Match, and I’m starting to think maybe the last match gets harder as the game goes on but I’m not sure. In arcade I managed to get past moloch and I got destroyed by quan chi. I really enjoyed her as a character in this game, and I’m hopeful for what else they will do with her later on in the series.
@@steele1 Thanks so much for that! Kitana is my fav so I’m guessing it must be bias but, I always enjoyed her character. I loved her gameplay in this era too. Minus her missing fan toss in DA. Deadly Alliance is not forgettable. Not by a long shot. It's one of the most popular MK games and possibly had the most influence on the whole franchise. Ask fans of the franchise what game they started and most would say Deadly Alliance or MK9. Good video though.
If it was popular how come out of all the new characters added only kenshi has become a staple in the series ??? Frost and Boraicho have only been background characters outside of their one modern roster spot
Deadly Alliance is one of my least favorite mk games BUT it saved the franchise from doom. It was a success in sales and new, fresh story. The opening with Liu Kang's death is one of the most shocking moments in the whole series, if not the most shocking! Also, this game introduced Kenshi, Nitara, Mavado. I really love them

@@Keygentlemen She also looks nothing like Li Mei at all. She looks like a generic NPC character.
People like frost because femme sub
Can’t wait for deception 🔥
Yes sir
Tbh. I have a special place in my heart for DA. I got it for Christmas the year it came out. It was the silver lining to the shitshow that was 2002 in my family.
Same here bruh.
Same. I got it and a PS2 so it was my first PS2 game. I also got that X-Men fighting game but MK DA was so much better compared to that POS.
But did they make it a good game though lol
@@b2bgood870 It's fun. There's plenty of worse fighting games on the PS2 and PS1.
35:29 - 35:42 Had me rolling due to how relative the lash out can be.
I'm biased due to nostalgia but I find it solid. Also I'm happy you're going long! Good to see peoples content progress
Omg I laughed so hard on the rage in Hsu Hao's mirror match. Also did I hear you say Armageddon was the worst of the 3, I thought it was the best
😂😂
I remember Deadly Alliance quite fondly. Especially memorable is how cowadly and shaky Shang Tsung is if you move backwards while holding his weapon
You raging at hsu hao was hilarious it literally reminds me of my rages 😂
I know I’m a whole month off but it’s great seeing you play and give your opinion on all of these games. I grew up playing these without actually paying attention. Now that I’m older it’s great to see how it was for you playing it for the first time and the struggles we all went through lol. Thank you for these videos
No problem man I hope to create more that you enjoy
True the 3d era MK games grate plus it has something dark music I love that
Ending section feels like I'm laying on a bed in the background while seeing you unlock random stuff on the Krypt and talk about your experiences till now, that 4AM vibe is great, reminds me of sleepovers I used to have with friends
I’m glad you enjoyed it
This game has been and always will be my FAVORITE of the series. I loved the story and overall ambience of this era and miss this level of care and creativity in the modern games.
Forgettable? This game was my childhood along with the entirety of the 3D era and why I got into MK in the first place
Is it me or did Kitana's section about her gameplay get muted? Like her introduction and ending aren't muted but the gameplay review is.
“Stop… stopp. STOPPPPPP!”
Lol that raging with hsu hao was funny asf that you earned a like & sub
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This was my first MK. I remember playing it on the xbox and I had no clue what I was doing. I was a young teenager and just played it because blood and muscle guys, which was something I was very much into.
I really like this video format btw, long videos that showcase all the ladder endings and with a peppered opinion. Thanks!
Plus this game has a solid soundtrack Something the newer games lock
Reptile was always my favorite character, which hurt cause i hated his design since MK4. So glad he finally looks good again in the new one
Also was the Kitana section without audio for anyone else, aside from the ending?
I think Reptiles design in shoalin monks was awesome
@@FreddyJenkins better design for sure, but still not quite what I wanted. It was a step in the right direction but still was too much of a big lizard. I get why some might like it but I really dont, and the shapeshifter is my favorite direction/compromise for him
The intros for the ps2 trilogy + shaolin monks were so fire
Who ever came up with Hsu Hao’s design I want what they were smoking
deadly alliance is literally peak mk, alongside deception. bthe fact they both have characters and stages the other don't makes them feel like two sides of the same coin to me
The Hsu-Hao Konquest rage is REAL. I remember crying as a kid trying to beat him on Konquest
Thank you
Hsu hao kicking you ass is probably his redemption for every person who ever called him garbage 😂
😂😂
i thought special forces was next but i’m glad it’s this one
Yeah, I decided I’d come back to that one later cause I didn’t want to go through the mental battle of playing special forces yet
Mo kap man is peak. We need him back.
Low-key one of my favorite UA-camrs rn
Thank you
I remember spending hours in the Krtpt with my bros and having to write numbers down and having to remeber the coffins where located. No internet to do all this just alot of muscle memory and dedication, this game is really special to me growing up and mortal kombat in general
you say forgettable but you will never forget the Hsu Hao Conquest fight any time soon
yes completely forgettable...... when they literally kill off lui kang in the intro cinematic. I was stunned even before i started playing. and it was lore that you even see recurring even in the present games. Even the last part of the current game is a call back to this game
Forgettable cause people don’t talk about it much in comparison to all the other mk games
Thank you and I hope you enjoy playing the old mk games aswell
People who try DA today won’t remember how epic it was to fire up this game for the first time and see that then-mindblowing opening scene
The drahmin section alone made me a new fan of your channel ngl
Leaving a like just for the Drahmin praise
I personally love this crypt style and being as much to it as there is. 676 coffins. Insane. And the animation each time makes you just hope for something good like a wheel spin. I wish they would bring this style crypt back for a game.
DAMN ..Raiden voice is awsome as fuck! This game is peak MK atmosphere, i miss the tone this game brought
You're pretty entertaining in my opinion.
People who subscribed are proud of you and what you're doing. Don't question yourself, it's hard to not wonder why, but the answer is quite simple: we like your videos.
Thank you
My older brother liked this game. It’s kind of cool . Deception was incredible tho.
I just found your channel and love the MK content. Keep up the good work.
Deadly alliance is NEVER forgotten
Is no one going to ask why kitanas part doesn’t have any sounds ?
Anyway I completely agree that this game has probably the most forgettable new comers in the series like mavado , hsu hao and frost feel so one dimensional at least it does handle the old characters well . Personally tho i believe that Nitara and li mei are interesting at least in this game i personally think that mk 1 did gave li mei a better and more interesting not only visual clarity and better moves with her whole purple tiger and fire works but I feel like nitara is just another NPC in both this game and mk 1
deception have most forgetten characters
@@omarslayz انت عربي؟
I just found you today and watched 3 videos thus far, this one being the third, and I heard your little rambles about doing UA-cam stuff. I'm all smiles listening to you talk about your journey dude. I'll stick around and see what else you make!
how dare you say reptiles design was stupid
I agree it's of the best Reptile designs
This game brought mortal kombat back from the dead, this and deception being the two I spent the most time in but I played them all. when this game was out it was fire and all my friends enjoyed it, grinding and seeing what all you could unlock from the krypt was pretty awesome also.
12:53 Well that's a fucked up ending for lei mei she did all that only to still die and be a dragon army soldier 😢
Keep being you man
Thank you so much
I actually liked this one, but the one that let you free roam in Konquest mode was my favorite of the PS2 era. Shaolin Monks was great as well, given you had a sibling/friend to play couch co-op with you.
All I know is it was a pain in the ass to get those onyx coins for Cyrax.
So true I hated when I’d fail a test your might / sight and would have to wait 5 more matches to even get a chance to get more koins
Raidens voice is so badass in this
At the time of Deadly Alliance release, I was starting to know the Gamecube in person (I only saw it in magazines), and because I was used to n64 graphics, I was blown away by Deadly Alliance graphics.
That’s Hsu Hao part had me cryin lol
I’ve just finished watching this whole video and I didn’t expect to relate to you quite so much. I’m 18 years old and have wanted to work on UA-cam for a while now too. Unfortunately I’m only able to edit from my phone and that limits my capabilities, you really did speak to me in your unscripted segment though, keep up the great work man.
Good luck on your journey, if all you have is a phone to edit then become the best phone editor, never give up. Thank you for the kind words
@@steele1 you’re welcome, you seriously deserve the appreciation for this content. It’s very well done!
This game paved the way 💯 Deadly Alliance is classic
Mk4
33:15 I want this as my notification sound! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I took it back as I've watched some of this and yeah, I remember the anger.
i watched to the points you were worried about :)
i greatly appreciate the heart to heart ranting, nice long form content of just someone enjoyable speaking is great for me personally
Thank you I’m really glad that some people got enjoyment out of that last bit ❤️
“Everytime scorpion tried to attack Quan chi. Drahmin and mulak beat the fuck out of him” I laughed way to hard at the way you phrased that 😂
I remember those weekend grinding this game out Looking for characters and costumes Although back then it wasn't considered a grind It was called, you know, having fun like how it should be.
Back when everything. Wasn't meant for internet But merely just to have fun and enjoy the game
Internet has A positive and negative effect on gaming Today But that's probably a conversation for another time
Another banger of a video!
This is getting me hyped for the MK1 beta this weekend!
That Krypt tho lol
The way I used to distinguish characters and skins from the rest of the b s
Was based off the prices on the coffins If it was cheap It was most likely Some b s
If the coffin was expensive Usually it was a Character, alt skin, Or some cool video
loving the content man congrats on the traction 🙏🏻
Bro who can forger the iconic music from the character select screen. Man the good ole days before life took over
This is the tone that modem mk is missing. before you come at me, I STRICTLY mean, like, the ATMOSPHERE
Love it or hate it at least this game gave us a sweet nickname for shang tsung & quan chi
Awesome vid man. You’ve definitely earned a sub. You put a lot of time into these videos and it shows. Entertaining stuff, keep it up!
Thank you I really appreciate the kind words
It always tripped me out though how this is the onlyMK Game without a cinematic Ending after you beat the boss
It's like Any other match
Like okay I won that's it No cinematic explosion Like all the others
I watched to the end and I was laughing when you mentioned that there might only be one person watching falling asleep or just waking up to you speaking. I was working overnight and just had the video playing in my ear. Felt like you kept me company while working. Hahaha.
My first mk game as a kid. Holds a special place in my heart watching my brother and his friends play against each other
32:59 the all too relatable rage laughter and outbursts here cracks me up 😂
Some of the visuals still look really good actually I think. Just as you said :)
At the hsu hao section he needs to block way more 😭
That Hsu Hao segment was pretty raw bro
I was really looking forward to the Kitana portion (My fav character) but the audio was missing.😢 What did you say in regards to her may I ask?
Yeah it sucks the audio was missing, here’s what I wrote in the script about her:
Kitana has never been the most interesting character ever for me.
I HATED that if you miss her impale move, her fans would be gone for the rest of the match, and she was the only one that could happen to.
I grew up with MK DA being, what I thought at the time, the best a MK game would ever get. In hind sight I was clearly wrong, but then again I was only 7😅.
Also, don't worry...there ARE people that watch the whole vid, no matter how awkward you think it may be to speak to a camera by yourself. I love to see what impact these games left on people, if any, because it's a fond memory for me.
@@angelash8998 Because Frost was seen as a sub-zero clone (still is) and Bo'Rai'Cho wasn't cool until MKX.
Did you notice that the coffin f u is empty
Even back then they were trolling
Can't forget this game. The deadly alliance, the new characters like Bo Rai Cho and Kenshi, killing Lui Kang...
And cooking with Scorpion
Deadly Alliance is one of my least favorite mk games BUT it saved the franchise from doom. It was a success in sales and new, fresh story. The opening with Liu Kang's death is one of the most shocking moments in the whole series, if not the most shocking! Also, this game introduced Kenshi, Nitara, Mavado. I really love them
I remember seeing the scorpion fatality as a kid, where he shot his spear into the guy's head, and pulled it off
I hope they bring back Mavado. He was my boy in DA
Well....I kinda got what I wanted
This, deception, Armageddon and Mk9 my most favourite mortal kombat games of all time but deadly alliance this game is so special to me first game I discovered I loved scorpion my favourite ninja
That compilation of you getting worked by Hsu Hao was gold 💀💀💀 33:50
kung lao felt like the main character to me and drahmin ending felt like a cliff hanger i wanted to see his human form
Raiden was the protagonist.
Deadly Alliance is GOATED
So weird fun fact. Kung Lao is glitched in this game and they never released a fixed version. His secondary costume is actually supposed to be his main outfit and vice versa but they just screwed up and kinda shrugged it off
I thought they just decided that they liked his alt better and made it his primary
Like what they did with Reptile
