As a black teenage girl I found out who George Carlin in the early days of UA-cam. 31 years old today and still return to the first comedian I ever felt like I could wholeheartedly relate too. RIP George Carlin! 🖤
The realest comedian of our time. Always told it like it was. I wish we had people of the same character now, who aren't content with recycling the same vapid shit that passes for comedy these days.
There are quite a few people commenting with no sense of humour. You might not agree with everything he says but he was a seriously witty and intelligent man. RIP Mr Carlin
Yeah.. however I disagree on there being no money in helping people get back on their feet... the economy is driven by each and every one of us; he certainly covered his bases by asserting that "if you come up with a solution, those nasty ugly 'swiney' politicians will implement it in a heart beat..." I was reading a comment on an article about "not all men are sexist"... The same applies here.. politicians aren't all that way.. they can turn that way due to some heavy hitters doing bad things and having to compete with them but still.. it was such a blatant mockery .. not to mention a contradiction.. there is no such thing as "never" or "nothing;" though I'm certain someone will say something silly like: "Oh yeah? Well, if that's true, then I bet there are cartoony texture beings in the universe.." Yeah.. and the most difficult thing to believe at that point, is that in the entire universe, that something as basic as texture cannot imitate or exhibit a cartoonish shade and qualities... Particularly with technology... it depends on how you perceive things I suppose... I like George too, but like him, I pick at and am peevish at this sort of thing... edit: Think about it.. there's nothing more annoying than someone with the mindset that spews garbage which translates to: "Well, as far as I'm concerned..." .. To people like that who aren't wiling to change or practice what they preach: "You stupid hypocritical piece of garbage..." . . "If you're not a part of the solution, then you're a part of the problem."
He means there's no direct money in helping the homeless get homes. There's no direct return on investment to investors, which is how things get done in our modern world: people help someone only to help themselves. You can't charge interest on the homeless. Being 12 years old, listening to this man's routine on a record playing on a record player because my older sister insisted I hear it is one of my fondest memories from childhood.
Absolutely true! Got into an argument with a bunch of people I knew who were petitioning the city to stop transforming a hotel into affordable apartments for the homeless because it was too close to them. They always talk about dealing with poverty and homelessness but when it came down to it, they wanted it moved anywhere else.
They converted a bus station to a homeless shelter in a business district here. Businesses saw a drastic increase in break-ins, and the home-depot and Winners store across the road have a huge increase in shoplifting. The Manager of Winners is beside himself... his loss protection staff can’t keep up with it now. The Home Depot worker I talked to said they lose $8,000 per day, per DAY, in stolen merchandise. We just bought a bike and the city gives a list of theft locations as reported by crime victims, guess where they happen most? Every cyclist knows you can’t leave bikes parked anywhere near these shelters. If a bike gets stolen, police first patrol to the nearby shelter and half the time it’s there... you’re lucky if they find it, more lucky if it wasn’t damaged during the theft or that it’s already been spray painted, parted out, or had the serial numbers and decals filed off. There is trash strewn about outside along the streets where they throw things, and now there are tents and shopping carts left along these roads. On the other side of town there’s a social assistance building near one of our schools. Teachers have to check for syringes left in the school yard, and anyone who can’t afford to move away is left to tell their kids “be careful, don’t touch needles” when they’re playing in the playground. Not a consolation for 7 year olds who may get stuck with a life altering needle prick. Anyone who’s been around for more than a minute knows you can put a price on a house, but good neighbours are priceless. This is one reason why the suburbs are so attractive to the middle Class. The rich can afford to live anywhere, the middle class just want to own homes and be safe... so they started moving to bedroom communities long ago. Many homeless people have mental health issues and addictions. We can build those persons a house, but until homes, food and assistance is directly linked to rehab... nothing will change and NIMBY always has a valid point. I can’t even count the number of businesses that have closed down due to entrenched street people breaking in and wreaking havoc with their stores. These are mom-and-pop shops just trying to make ends meet. I love Carlin and he makes great points, but I imagine if he owned a grocery store and had to deal with this himself-on the daily- he’d have a different tune.
@@lp9092 I think the bigger question to ask is, why do these homeless people feel the need to steal and break into these shops (if it was actually them and not just someone staching their ill gotten goods in that shelter). Do they not have enough Food and water? Is the shelter bad? Also, this still doesn‘t adress the bigger problem of why homeless people exist in the first place. If these stores and store-chains are so concerned about homeless in the area stealing from themm then there is a very simple solution to this problem: decrease the homeless population by opening oportunitys for them in the job market, so they can afford to be a falued member in society.
@@sebastianschoefl so let me get this straight, youre suggesting someone who works a regular job and doesn’t go to a shelter would “stash” the things THEY stole at... a shelter? For what, safe keeping? to “frame” someone? Clearly you haven’t ever been to a shelter. And it is simple to see why people steal, that is only a question for someone who has never met a drug addict or criminal. I struggle that you suggest the creation of jobs is the answer. Have you ever considered that someone doing heroine may not be a good worker? Or that some people would rather just steal because it is easier? Or that blaming a shopkeeper who gets robbed at gunpoint for “not making more jobs” is actually victim shaming and dumb? Maybe next you’ll suggest women who get raped should make more vaginas available.

Yeah.. however I disagree on there being no money in helping people get back on their feet... the economy is driven by each and every one of us; he certainly covered his bases by asserting that "if you come up with a solution, those nasty ugly 'swiney' politicians will implement it in a heart beat..." I was reading a comment on an article about "not all men are sexist"...

This bit needs to be auto-shipped to every person online who says, "George Carlin would be a conservative today."
He sure as hell wouldn't be a liberal he hates both sides
Absolutely true! Got into an argument with a bunch of people I knew who were petitioning the city to stop transforming a hotel into affordable apartments for the homeless because it was too close to them. They always talk about dealing with poverty and homelessness but when it came down to it, they wanted it moved anywhere else.
The NIMBYs never fail to disappointment

He was both. Carlin had punchlines just as any other comedian.
Youre not releavant, just someone who pontificates on youtube

The Aristotle of our generation.
He was a standup philosipher
Damn, i'm sure glad Carlin's still here to tell us about America's problems in 2022.
....Wait, what do you mean this is from 1990?
This man is great indeed.
He would be having a ball with everything that's going on these days
Well, Reaganomics has had 40 years to run its course.
You simply cannot argue with what this man said over 30 years ago. His performances (and books) were nothing short of educational to me while growing up; and it is seen in how relevant and true they still are to this very day.
I've always loved George carlin. The best political comedian ever. And his words ring true even now March 2022
What a brilliant man.
My favorite part of this is that people are actually starting to use “housless” instead of “homeless” when referring to people living on the street.
Carlin predicted 2020 terminology in 1996.
Actually iz housingly challenged
Unhoused is the new term
it's unhoused now, cuz "houseless" sounds kinda weird. unhoused flows better imo
My Country's (not America) political policies are based on the American model and we are now experiencing explosions in Homelessness because private property developers are being prioritised and enabled to charge extortionate rent prices..just like George talks about here.
@@Lopata991 if you're without somewhere to live political correctness is not your number one priority
The war on terror takes the cake.....like how are you going to win a war against a non-specific feeling, almost like they wanted a never-ending war, that they can declare anytime on anything they deem terrifying
Yes indeed😊
Genius social commenter= Political prophet = Greatest comedian = Legend = George Carlin.
Pryor was better, and Bill Hicks was certainly Carlin's equal, but both had shorter careers. Hicks is the guy Denis Leary ripped off his entire standup act from, and named the recording "No Cure for Cancer". It's unlikely I will ever be in Denis' vicinity, but if ever I am, he will leave fucking toothless.

In Denmark the homeless actually do have their own magazine, and it's the second most selling one (right after a home-making magazine which is pretty funny). Not a bad idea at all :P
Altarior Don't they have some social system that covers homeless people in Denmark? I'm so dissapointed in Denmark after seeing this comment
I would absolutely love to live in Denmark. I've been to Europe but only went through Copenhagen Denmark on my way to Norway. Your very blessed.
There are currently 26 publications dedicated to the homeless. www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1OKWM_enUS769US769&q=homeless+newspaper&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiDn7nchLzaAhVBG6wKHZCxAFEQ1QIIswEoAA&biw=1584&bih=767
@Jeremy Baker The Big Issue also has a UK version. In Austria, they have Augustine, which has the same purpose.
@@justafanintexas7913 They aren't "dedicated" to the homeless, they're dedicated to making money by selling magazines. Fuck the magazine, go back outside the store and actually look the guy in the eye you wouldn't look at that's just asked you for a quarter or dollar. Give him the money, not some fucking publishing corporation.
The man is missed. We are better off for having had him, but worse off now that he is gone.
I always laugh at the American instinct to say to soldiers "thank you for your service"
Yeah, I’m a veteran and I hate that crap. It’s a guilt thing because of the way our Vietnam veterans were treated.
I agree. Plus the term is dismissive and patronizing. As usefully engaging as, "Hi, how are ya?".@@Mostopinionatedmanofalltime
I'm a decorated Heart Vietnam veteran who is somewhat proud of his service, but I never forget that if I had only made the effort to get a "C" average in junior college in 1967, I would only have been forced to watch the Vietnam War on TV.
@@Mostopinionatedmanofalltime Two of my Uncles served in Vietnam and one of my brothers is actively serving in the Army. When I say "Thank you for your service " to a Veteran I say that because I know they risked their lives for our country. My Uncle Louis died in Vietnam. I do not thank military service people out of guilt. I thank them out of appreciation.
@@laylarebecca12 I know that you’re sincere. I’m just talking about the general inclination of people to say it nowadays. It really didn’t start happening until after 911.
A one-up proposal for the Golf Courses and Houseless. Have a construction company oversee the conversion to the low cost housing. Hire the Houseless people to do the labor. Simultaneously they have a job, they have a paycheck, they cultivate marketable skills and at the end, they have a roof over their heads. After that, they can use those skills to get another job. Or use the money to attend classes at the local Community College.
dragonson04 houseless are usually mentally unstable. Can’t hold down a job.
Some homeless people are homeless for a reason and they will waste that money on alcohol / cigarettes / drugs / prostitutes etc.
Some will have their lives saved though and I think that'd definitely make it worth it.
But as George said there's no money in it...
Yes to this ... Brian and Toprak are obviously still in the NIMBY camp.
I'd suggest they see how not demonising addicts in Portugal and resocialising them finding them jobs proves their statements are mostly a fallacy. Also UBI hopefully will be a thing in the not too distant future.... ok im being extremely optimistic
Toprak the depression of being homeless will definitely make someone turn to drugs or alcohol to relieve it. People believe that addiction was the cause of their situation when the reverse is probably more true
Most of them already have "skills", that isn't what they need. They need shelter.
his delivery when he screams "WALKING !!!!!" gets me every single time
Everything he said came true.
I love and miss him.
Rest in peace 🕊️.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Right?
I remember a story about Dave Chapel pulling some donations or something he gave a community for wanting to actually build houses for people… the more i listen to George acts, I’m convinced he was in some way seeing the future and warning us, we need him back.
This man was a philosopher disguised as a comedian
"If we're gonna recycle, let's get serious!!!" Laughed soo hard
Hilarious timing, my scrolling had me reading your comment AS he said it 😁
Me too.
best and smart comedian in the world.
George was pure genius!
try Bill Hicks
Isaac Ibnoumaryama wished you knew superlatives
He speaks a lot of SJW stuff that we are suffering from today on the left.
John Kim both left and right!
It's amazing and sad that most of the things he talked about still ring true today.
Unfortunately it's not surprising at all.
A true and gifted seer and sayer. Loving his body language and control and animation, skilled inflection and delivery.
George Carlin will be relevant for the next 500 Years easy. A True liberator of the mind. 2019.
Hardly.
Society is gonna collapse in 0-40 years and then people will suddenly rediscover how violence solves the problem of wealth.
@@JoshSweetvale Maybe not. The American spectator democracy desired by the rich ruling elite can only be achieved if the population is largely depoliticized, indeed infested with political lethargy or pitted against each other. The American society is manifesting all of these attributes. There would be no surprise if the violent Trump Mob is financed by the billionaire class like the Mercer, Koch etc.to oppress the working people again like so many times before in the history. The Country has been run since inception by the landowner/ruling elite/oligarchs who were not elected. Any attempt to change that will crushed by the rulers of the land. The 19th Century Billionaire Oligarch Jay Gould captures the zeitgeist of America today: ‘I CAN HIRE ONE HALF OF THE WORKING CLASS TO KILL THE OTHER HALF.’
I wish he wouldn't be relevant
@@TheTheThe_ Sadly he probably won't be irrelevant until the end of capitalism. Hell, Karl Marx is still relevant 150 whatever years later.
Everything this man says he isn't he isn't wrong. He's absolutely nailed it. Way ahead of his time that is why I never tire of watching this man
We need more George Carlins in the world
Do you know how relieved I was to find out about George Carlin? Explaining what he explains in his videos without making people sleep or annoy them is difficult and I walked around with most of the information that G.Carlin has spoken in his videos. So now I just refer people to his videos. *In other words, there more George Carlins on the planet, the world is shifting in such a way that it won't allow them to come out easily* Knowing is not enough, one must act.
Check out Low Key on line....she is everywhere nowadays:) Carlin rules:)
2024 and it's still more accurate than ever
Oh how I miss George Carlin. I wish he were still with us. He'd have tons of material to work with.
The "woke mob" would cancel him just like they are trying to with Dave Chappelle.
@@RebelGaming4U I can't believe you watched this video and still perpetuated the idea that "librals" would be the enemy of Carlin. This entire thing made fun of self-important, idiot conservatives.
@@RebelGaming4U Yeah because conservatives would be super cool with him and him calling them all racist misogynists. They would just use conservative cancel culture, which is domestic terrorism against people you dislike.
@@RebelGaming4U george carlin wouldn't frame blatantly anti-trans rhetoric as a joke because he doesn't punch down like today's lazy comedians.
@@Skyfoogle found the exact type of person Carlin takes whacks at lol
His delivery always funny, his message always clear, his enthusiasm always exciting, his intellect always brilliant, numerous comedians always looked up to him, his rapid-fire pace in speech never matched, his fans in the millions. George we all miss you!
This is his best material, with only competition from his airlines rant.
I’m convinced the only reason Carlin was controversial was because he told people what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to. He had an abrasive way of delivering it, but you probably would be abrasive too if your synapses connected and you saw the idiocy going on nowadays that’s still relevant to his words.
The older he got, the more truthful he got. We need more social critics like him.
George will always be my favourite comedian and th older he got th better he was I say.
what a fucking genius god bless you George Carlin the world is a worse place without you in it !! :/

Joe bless you george carlin*
You said it! A brilliant human being! I miss his presence. He left us some powerful food for thought.
john caitlen why God? Isn't that ironic
He means God as in Morgan Freeman (lmao)
El Duderino he has indeed goes against everything he stood for, and I agree with everything he stood for.
No body does it like Carlin . He really knows how to put things in perspective .
I'll be 36 In September and I've never once actually sat and listened to George Carlin. For the first time I sat down to watch this video and my gosh! It's 1:07am and I just stood up In the middle of my living room and clapped for him. This man and what he was saying just reached down and touched my soul.
Nothing but respect for George. Told the naked truth, and was fucking hysterical while he did it.
"Watching flies fuck" will always be my favorite line. His speech about golf is one of my favorite of his.
I can't wait until summer ,,, I will leave food on the picnic table for a few days then go back and watch some Fly Porn.
George was a wonderful dude. Always told it like it was/is. It's wonderful we have these memories for those who were not alive when he was, so that they can see just how smart this guy was. Now, if we had someone like him as a candidate for the highest office instead of what we have now. Sad.
Trump is exactly like Carlin, pushing the bounds of free speech. You think he isn't because you have been told what to think, but you're a sad husk of a human.
Trump is nowhere remotely like Carlin because Trump has no sense of thoughtful connectivity with people. Trump is only in touch with Trump.
The powers that be would NEVER let someone like George Carlin occupy the White House.
George opened my eyes when he talked about religion and the invisible man up in the clouds, how can something love you yet make you suffer forever, it's two faced and makes no sense. Thank you George ! You were the best . R. I. P.
God does not make you do anything. You have free will and your choices have consequences. George was just another guy who does not want to surrender to God. Period. You just were suckered by his delivery and his humour.
yea sure just worship the government instead... or pleasure... or both like most people would
