The way his eyes roll back one by one instead of synchronised is so unsettling
Yes!😱
I missed that until I saw your comment. Looking it up I noticed the sound effect as the second eye goes up. Really sells it.
A.I was used in making of this movie
@@evolvetrooper yeah, for 0.4% of the run time, as I've already told other people who said the same thing.
If you're going to boycott films that use *any* amount of "AI", you might as well boycott any film that uses any amount of digital effects processing, colour-correction or image editing as all of those processes also utilise machine learning and algorithms to carry out their function.
That will leave you with films from the 1980s and prior as your sole source of movie entertainment. Enjoy.
@@evolvetrooperWho fucking cares 🎉
Love how Christou loses a bit of his accent when he starts feeling Minnie's presence, revealing that he was putting on an exaggerated foreign accent as part of his stage persona.
SATAN'S IFFY UH, JEESUS GOT THE STIFFY UH,
Maybe he's a shitty actor.
Or that she was speaking through him
David Dastmalchian did such a great job as a 70's late-night TV host! He's always been a tremendous character actor but he really excelled in this role.
He's terrific and such a cutie a too, he seems to be over the moon about this film so I really hope it does great and he gets more leads.
I gotta admit I was not tracking this guy. He really impressed me though! loved this movie
Genuine question, what sets apart a character actor from other actors or types of actors?
@@joaquinsalazar5406a character actor typically plays characters in supporting roles that are memorable, unusual, or eccentric, and does so frequently. theyre not leading actors but they are often the most memorable part of a movie. while leading actors are typically the classically beautiful or classically handsome type of person, character actors may not be. i think stanley tucci and paul giamatti are rly good examples. a lot of character actors also typically play the same character in most things (not all the time tho and sometimes they can lead but it wont be what theyre known for: aka sam jackson in most of the movies you know him in is the cool suave tough guy but not the leading actor, and when he is, he breaks away from type). these actors often find themselves at home playing many stock characters, like sidekick, straight man, cowboy, witch, hooker, drunk, or femme fatale, but its not always the case either. in any regard, a leading actor usually gets to showcase much more depth and acting range in their role than the character actor.
I hope he gets big.
From playing a defenseless Schizophrenic in The Dark Knight to now being a very busy actor. David Dasmulchian 👍👍👍
He’s amazing. I’m going to see every film with David Dalmatian from now on
@@ifedhimspaghetti Me too! Every Danny Dalmatina film is gonna be on my list from now on!
He was also Polka Dot Man from The Suicide Squad
Love the 70’s vibe
is so easy to do and cheap that is almost good material i know
this movie left me uneasy and anxious as fuck dude the imagry and shit captured is just creepy asf thank god for the creators of this movie
i just saw this movie today, i walked into it blind not knowing anything about it, also i was the only one in the theater when i seen it and i was also baked.....it was so fucking amazing and worth every penny

This movie will be a game-changer! 1000 bucks says after this one we'll see a lot of vintage-styled movies!
I feel like the same is going to happen. I think this is going to be bigger than we anticipate.
Kind of already began to happen from
Bones n All or even the more recent the holdovers
I hope so. With some of the crap that rolls out lately, I’d be glad for 70’s type creepy movies.
Por favor, no creas que esta película es original, literamente es una version estadounidense de la película argentina "Historia de la oculto"

David is now my favourite actor
I love it when character actors get a chance to show their stuff in a lead role. He has such a unique face, and is crazy talented. I hope he gets more leading man parts.
Totally! That's how I feel about Paul Giamatti in The Holdovers. Such a specific, strange character that happens to be the center of the story.
David dastmalchian is incredible in everything, and he kinda has the perfect talk show host face. Given his love of horror as well, this is the perfect leading role for him! @@mmclaurin8035
He had a really good interview a few years ago on Kevin Smith's Fatman on Batman podcast. Check it out. It's what made me check him out more and become a huge fan of his work.
It's been a long time since I really looked forward to seeing a horror film. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this one!
I saw this in the theater last weekend (opening weekend) ... it's SO GOOD. 100% worth going out of your way to see it.
The acting, the sound design, the attention to detail to recapture the authenticity of the 70s. They did their HW big time!
Cant wait to watch this!
"It's MINNIIIIE!"
Saw it in theatres last night...loved it
Left me speechless.

The premise of this movie seems absolutly brilliant.
Only problem is that, just as most "found footage/mockementary" movies, they didnt dare to make the video has as bad quality as an old show or an old tape would have.
I think Blair Withch project is the only one that did that, which manage to create a great atmosphere.
yeah because that way it would look like shit.
Nah found footage films suck. They always look terrible.
@@coffeecrusader4863 It would feel as an actual recording been shown to the public, which would be more immersive.
the wnuf halloween special is very very good about this. the entire thing is presented as a recording of an 80s news broadcast and it's spot on in every way
It’s meant to be “found footage” of a late night event. Who’s to say it’s from a vault or preserved in a Romanian salt mine like Event Horizon’s disturbing rated X cut.
I will watch anything with David Dastmalchian in it.
This is the first film I'm excited for in like 3 years.
Bro watch ‘When evil lurks 2023’
This movie wins the best and original horror movie of last year. The concept is very original and something I never saw or have known but their country Argentina seems to have some protocol to deal with this or it was just for the film, idk. But if u want to watch a good solid horror, watch it.
@gbasar1032 I'll check it out. 2023 had a few horror gems. The Outwaters is brilliant! Also Skinamarink was so different and appreciated.
I've booked tickets for opening night! I think that I will love it, please let me love it, oh God I hope I'll love it.
You sound like that crazy girl on top of the building in Independance Day holding the welcome sign

Every reality in the history of realities has things which no longer exist but once did. It's not weird in the slightest, it's the exact description of time passing and things changing. Every single human that has ever existed lives in a reality where Tyrannosaurus rexes don't exist, but once did.
I love how authentic the 70s set and everything along with it looks. Great attention to detail.
Yeah loving this 70’s throwback 😊
Strong recommendation for this one. I was impressed.
I want to see this SO BADLY!!!!

I can’t wait to watch this again on Shudder. This movie did not let me down.

Right? Like, I don't need it to look authentic, but they are kind of trying to make it look that way with filters and effects, so why not just go for it.
I'm not sure if there are any British people in here that are old enough to remember this, but this reminds me of Ghostwatch a bit.
Thankfully everyone knows it's a movie and won't start complaining the next day about it lol
I wasn't old enough to watch it at the time (not even quite 3 months old 😅) but I've seen it since and watched documentaries about it, even got the 30th anniversary bluray boxset (it contains a script and all sorts, really cool), and yea that was exactly my first thought when I was the teaser for this.
Yup bring on Parkinson!

Comes out today...let him in!!!!🤣🤣🤣
One of the most unique horror movies in a while. Never thought a 70s throwback would be so great
This movie genuinely managed to scare me, bare in mind I've been watching horror movies since I was 11 and I haven't been this scared by a movie in years.
The way Jack kinda nervously shakes his head when Christou mentions the name Minnie, I wonder if he actually knows who that is?
I’m sooo ready
YES!!!! I can't wait too!
Pumped for this, hope it's as good as they're saying..
It was quite good after all! Felt like an A24 movie but with less unnecessary obtuseness.
This looks SO good, I hope it is what it seems!
It is bro
Horror is the best genre when it’s done right (like this movie)
David Dastmalchian was in the movie “Prisoners” with Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal. David had a relatively small part, but he was so good in it, and his part very important to the movie plot. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
OH YEAH! That's where I'm remembering him from! I was wondering why I felt like I already knew this guy was a great actor but I couldn't remember where I was getting that from.

Saw this movie high as fuh. Worth it 👌
This film is so good that it shouldn't be ONLY on streaming but on physical media as well. Fingers crossed that the powers that be at shudder and IFC Films will take care of that, because who wouldn't want to have this fantastic film on their DVD and/or Blu-ray shelf?
Amazing film
Soooooo excited to see this tomorrow at cinema!!!!!! Not been this buzzed for a movie in a long long long time !!!!!!❤
I love how he immediately drops his accent in this scene.

Dick Cavette had his people book that guest immediately!
Besides the AI that was made, this is definitely one of my favorite horror movie this year
I've seen a lot of people refusing to see this movie because of the AI. I don't know much about it, but doesn't it just revolve around an intro/outro still for the tv shows commercial break? If that's the only thing, I don't see the big stink about this.
@@randomposter5665Many of the people who claim they don't want to see this movie because of an AI-generated image that can apparently be found somewhere, I can only say, are really stupid. There's no helping them.
I literally don’t get the controversy for the AI. It was for a single frame in the entire movie, and it wasn’t even used to create art. It was used to add on to art. They had digital artist, when AI replaces an artist I feel like that’s where the problem is. The fact that people are up in arms about this when literally Disney’s wish had songs that were AI generated is ridiculous.
Why doesn't that person in a skull costume clap his hands and pretend to have a ring?
Yes! Exactly! Why do they kinda slow zoom towards them and they are motionless besides everyone else…
I hope that was a rhetorical question
That is the devil watching them.

So who here thinks Minnie was coming back to get revenge and who thinks she was trying to warn him about Abraxas
Revenge on who, her husband or the cult ?
@@cosmic4795 Her husband, for selling her out so he could be number 1 on the charts. Or even maybe revenge on the cult by stopping them via getting Jack to stab Lilly with the knife?

He is good enough to carry a film.
Notice the host has a ring.
I've watched this movie twice already. And can't understand if that's a walking stick insect crawling on the camera lens or what else it could be.
It was him.
Was this movie any good?
I definitely got a little bit of Deep Red from this scene.
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤👍👍
I don’t mind the spoiler because I’m probably gunna see it like 7 times, was there an actual Minnie? Or was this left up for interpretation? Like, Lily’s presence was opening gates and signals way to intense for him to take?
Where can I watch this
In select movies theaters Friday or on Shudder next month.
Closet theater to me showing it is like 45 minutes away. Might still go instead of waiting
A little disturbing seeing the still of the Twin Towers, too, right before the commercial break, as part of things happening in a different time, effectively a different world - and perhaps *also* a parallel dimension of the 70's, of sorts... 😲
So this is a movie? I thought it's an old tv recording
Just saw this flik; it has been grossly over-hyped.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I agree. The amount of literal NPCs praising the actor playing jack leads me to believe the production studio invested big in AI bots to hype it. Daring concpiracy, but if its wrong then Id be scared shi@tless by the amount of phreaks talking about it.
