They talked about how they did it, It’s a custom made coil that’s been cut in half from top to bottom, when filming they simply closed it together and put tape around the joins then painted them blue to look like one complete coil instead of two halves
I assume all the kids were beauty pageants regular, so that It's Always Sunny episode was probably the most wholesome acting/showbiz thing they've ever done.
