Thank you for ACTUALLY show the remove / Install of the turbo. I watch many turbo upgrade videos, this one is the only one with the actual howto install.
Very much appreciated :) I tried to add the stuff that I couldn’t find in other videos and get solid angles to actually show what is needed. Also I’m always trying to cut down on camera shake and motion-sickness inducing videos haha. Thanks for watching and please give us the sub!
Howdy! I'm about to purchase a 2015 fiesta st with 78000 miles on it and I'm no mechanic by any means so my question is......are they reliable or am I going into a potential money pit? The one I'm looking at is totally stock.
Incredibly reliable! I didn’t have any issues ever until I went big turbo. Don’t floor it under 2500rpms and it should be fine all the time :) if you have questions let me know! I just bought a 2014 ST3 with 160k miles and it’s still running plenty strong
This video helped me out a lot. I was able to install my S280 on my own because of this video. Thank you for taking the time to do this video and sharing it with us. Thanks again ✌🏻
I’m here to help! No sense in lying or hiding my mistakes and having another person go through the same nightmare. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to help us out!
My fiesta St is way to much like yours, white with red badges, carpet dash, red battery holder, S280. Im putting in the single port aux fuel next week!!
Was your motor blowing up related to these new mods? Physical failure. Or was it a tuning failure. Curious if the waste gate failed etc etc and cause a lean high boost or something.
I routed the lines on my wastegate incorrectly and it overboosted one time. The Accessport will only read up to 30psi (which it did) and it really could have been 50-70 for all I know. It was my fault and I take full responsibility. It felt like a hard fuel cut when it overboosted and didn’t throw any codes. I knew it was the boost solenoid routed wrong because it was the only thing I had doubt over. Overboosting even once can bend a rod or crack a piston pretty easily. I routed the lines correctly and didn’t have a problem for two glorious weeks of S280 power. Then as I slowly merged on a highway it grenaded out of nowhere.
Your install video was certainly helpful! Did you have JST tune your S280? If so, how much did you make? Both on stock fuel system and if you upgraded. Thanks!
I did have JST, never made it to the dyno but you’ll laugh uncontrollably every time you floor it. I’ve since switched to Tuneplus. Thanks for the nice comment and please help us back with the sub!
Good install but there is a some unnecessary steps. You don’t need to drain all the coolant. if you remove the turbo coolant lines you’ll lose some coolant but not a lot.
You’re not wrong, we found it was just a good time to change out the coolant anyway, and I preferred a controlled mess haha. Thanks for watching and please reward us with the sub!
Great video bro! I am installing my S280 in a few days or so. Do you think there is any way to pull the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe out through the top all as one piece still bolted together?
I honestly don’t know if it will all come out together, but it’s possible. I think the axle would get in the way if anything, but they’re easy to pull. Thanks for watching and help us back with the sub :)
Haha thanks drop me that sub! Sneaking up that elusive 1000. It’s a covercraft and it honestly fits perfect. I just picked one up for my new Veloster N and the fitment is way trickier compared to the fist. I love that it cut down on the glare. Oh and don’t do custom stuff so you can resell it later easily haha.
I’ll make a UA-cam video on how to do it. But basically if you google the Cobb Accessport boot screen file size, you can get a pic that fits that specific size or edit one to that size, once you have that there’s a screen on the Accessport that you can drop it into (like a tune or data log). I’ll make a video when I update mine soon :) thanks for watching and please sub!
I honestly can’t remember. It’s not too bad from the bottom. But with the turbo removed I think you can. If you try - disconnect the RMM first and push the motor forward (worth the extra step from the top or bottom
If you take your time and pause the video between each step, you’d be surprised how easy it is. I think anyone who can do a brake job has the mental acuity to do this. Having someone who has experience is invaluable. I’ve learned everything myself and I’m finally getting the chance to pass it on. Helping a guy rebuild his transmission this week
So why did you drain all the coolant out to change the turbo? I'm only asking because I installed my S280 without draining the coolant. I took the coolant reservoir off the fender and tilted it so that coolant wouldn't run out and when I disconnected the 2 small coolant lines I only lost a few ounces of coolant
I just went to whoosh Motorsports website and used the same break in procedure as their hybrid turbos. These S280s are inspected and stress tested before shipped so they’ve already had a good beating. Mine motor blew up two weeks after the S280 installation. Currently working on a short block swap
It is confusing! Following turbo technics and the guidelines I could find I came up with 2mm, or 2 full turns. I also found 3 full turns from tuned by Nissan, but I haven’t read anywhere that it’s 4 or 5 so not sure where that is coming from. I also consulted two local S280 people and they both said 2mm. I’m the end, the directions supplied with the S280 from turbo technics said 2mm and I went with that.
*Adam's website says 4mm for Hybrid, 3mm for stock. It's really confusing... Some people just calculate it by # of turns. Also, it could be different between hybrids or big turbos like S280, so maybe that could add to the confusion. ALSO... Are we talking about the stock WGA or the Turbosmart one? Many people are using the Turbosmart one, so maybe that also changes the suggested preload. lol.*
@@AzNightmare yes I’m using the turbosmart wastegate. But I think it has more to do with the turbo than the wastegate but I could be wrong. The S280 is a middle ground between a hybrid and a big turbo to be honest. There is a ton of info you are correct. It’s mainly the manufacturers recommendation that comes out on top and that’s what we went with.
@@AzNightmare I bought the tune service off Adam. And asked him to clarify. And he ghosted me lol. So whatever. I’ll just do 3mm and send it. Ron at whoosh says he runs 3mm on the turbosmart with his s280
@@LOLewie *I confirmed with Adam and he said 4mm. But my tuner said to do 2.5 turns (which is less than 3mm), lol... I think I ended up just doing 3mm as well as a compromise. I had a caliper and was extremely careful trying to measure up 3mm.*
Because the S280 beats them in a race I guess. Also the cost isn’t far off and I think the whole “heat” argument on the hybrids is what scares people away. Also people feel special with a “BIGGER TURBO HOUSING.” To each their own, this process is almost identical with all turbo installations. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for ACTUALLY show the remove / Install of the turbo. I watch many turbo upgrade videos, this one is the only one with the actual howto install.
Thanks for watching! It was a lotta work, but the shockingly unhelpful videos drove me to make this one :)

I wonder how much bigger of a pain it is to install with a tubular manifold
If you pull the entire manifold and turbo out and reinstall it shouldn’t be too bad
So what’s the correct boost solenoid routing
Put up the correct routing on my channel. Sorry for the delay in replying!
