Its very common over here in the US to see the 1.6 at 400bhp reliably (350-360whp)
Here in South Africa is a few stock motor fiesta st’s running 300wkw as a daily file and they run 11.9 - 12.2 on the 1/4mile

We need a decider when it's a draw. May be a cone course were they have to weave in and out of them and sprint back to the finish. Brings a handling aspect to the race too. Gymkhana style 👍

Outside of summer car shows it's so rare to see an RS Turbo Fiesta these days. Even the standard Fiesta of that time is a rare thing. Cames across a Citroen Saxo today ( looked like a VTS or VTR ) and I hadn't seen one for a long time

I miss my mk3 so much! It wins for me but have to say the mk7 got off the line well from a standing start. Think if there was no fuel cut in the mk3 he was coming.... Great racing and content yet again! 🔥🔥

Oh wow! Watched after viewing the feature on the old school Rs. I was right, it’s wicked in a roll. Look at him work that steering the whole time. My 1400 hp R8 is point and shoot. No drama. Sometimes going slower with drama is more fun. Great vid.

Old skool for me as that my era as 48 and had an rsturbo back in 2000 for 5 years. Wished I had it now how much they go for now.
Love mk3 even that it's not original engine. I had XR2i and it was a beast. Golf GTI & Astra GSI eater. So light and sooo much emotions to drive this thing. Pure joy for petrolheads.

Definitely with the old school here. Some work on actually getting that power down and this wouldn't have even being a fair comparison, the rs would have just walked away.

Enjoyable watch this one...having owned both I get the appeal of the rawness and looks of the rs....the st has the tech and an extremely good chassis that's playful and forgiving imo ..both good in their own way... thanks to the owners.

Stock the Mk8 will win but the old 1.6 can handle much more power whereas the new 1.5 bottom end can only do around 300bhp I believe
@PaulL yeah it would win!, yes i believe pumaspeed and laird performance have both achieved over 300bhp and hopefully see more to come in the future from the mk8 st

I love me old school fez not taking anything away from the new fez but you can’t beat owning an old school fiesta RS turbo great races either way but I will always fall towards old fords any day of the week

Martel - what you need to do is install adjustable rear shocks that you can switch to the hardest setting when racing or on track. What hurts front-wheel drive cars when pulling off is the shift of weight from the front to the rear which lifts the front wheels and causes loss of traction even with an LSD. You can see this happen when you launch. You could also raise the rear slightly to shift the weight further to the front. Surprisingly, it appears that the MK7 doesn't suffer from this, hence the superior traction even with an open-diff. I would be vey interested to see what difference this makes!

Love the Mk3 fiesta. Less boost by gear would be a better set up i think, as it's hard to pull away quickly without smoking the tyres on such a lightweight FWD with that huge turbo.

The RS turbo on the last roll was rollin the ST even without the fluffed gear change ain't getting near it had a fling with one of these a number of years back great when it worked it mostly didn't though, however with technology today and some of the builders now with over 15+ years experience building these engines etc I would be more then happy to get one today ( if practical for me which it's not ) and there's also the looks of the RS just wow reminds me of older good times, the ST is a great car no doubt ......but it's not an RS !
