  • Hey Everyone!
    Today I am going over how to install a radiator in your Fiesta ST. As most of us Fiesta ST owners know...the car is garbage at staying cool! With an upgraded radiator, you wont ever have to worry about that again though. It's not as grueling a task as some make it out to be, and in this video you will see the steps to be able swap this out yourself. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the video!
    Also, if you want to watch the Mountune Radiator Review, here is the link for that:

    I watched a video of someone doing this and basocally taking the whole nose of the car and thought to myself, theres gotta be an easier way, and now that I see this, I see that there is. I will be installing my radiator similar to how you did it.

      Awesome! Glad my video helps! 😁 And yeah, I am pretty sure that Mishimoto tells you to take the whole bumper and crash bar off.
      Their kit comes with a mishimoto fan shroud though, that may be why. But either way, you shouldn't have to remove the whole front if it is a "drop-in fit" lol.

      Appreciate it! That's my goal is to be as thorough as possible 👍.
      And appreciate the feedback on the background music for sure! I've been thinking of asking about that soon. I figured the music would help with the dullness of watching a silent install 😅
      You think the music is too much in general? Or just when I go into detail of the process?

      @@happyhills_garage the only problem to me is how loud it is especially when paired with your voice audio being low. Have to turn it up to hear what you say and then turn it way down when the music comes back. Otherwise you did a great job and I'm about to tackle my own mountune install here in a minute using this video to help :D

      @@SonOvaSon I'm gonna have to do a video about this haha. It's hard to say to be honest. I love both cars. The GR is amazingly fun, quick and agile with AWD and 3 cylinders! The FiST is a ton of fun as well with quite a bit less power and FWD. I feel like both cars are extremely engaging, but the FiST requires a little less attentiveness (if that makes sense), whereas the Corolla is more powerful and kind of requires you to not just send the car (even though it is more than capable to allow you to do that), but actually requires you to understand the limits and respect what it can do.
      Making a video will be a better way for me to get my point across lol

      @@happyhills_garage I think I know what you mean the fiesta seems like it’s easier to throw around when the Corolla needs time to master. I have a fiesta but it’s been a nightmare of problems for me and I’m just paranoid driving it around now so I was thinking of switching to a Corolla once it’s fixed up

    Thanks, this is gonna help me out a lot when I try to install my Mountune radiator tomorrow.
    I noticed you have the Mishimoto air intake. I was considering buying one of those as well because it has an airbox, unlike my open Injen unit that came with my car. But after looking closer at you video, it doesn't seem like the mishimoto intake utilizes the stock air scoop either. Is that the case? I might end up making my own airbox because I'm not particularly happy with any of the common aftermarket solutions for FiSTs.

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage  2 роки тому +1

      Glad the video helps!!
      And as for the air box, you are correct. It doesn't utilize the the air scoop, however, the lower portion of the Mishimoto airbox does have a decently sized opening that utilizes not only where the original air scoop was, but also excess air that passes through the radiator.

    What would you say are the signs to know when its time to replace the stock radiator? In my country it is more often cold than hot in rare scenarios it could reach 86 F. Nonetheless a very interesting video, subbed!

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage  4 місяці тому

      Appreciate the sub! As far as how to know when it is time to swap your stock radiator, I'd say when temps starting getting higher than usual, or the radiator is visually deteriorating(i.e. the fins are damaged, etc.). Typically you'd want to swap your coolant first and see if that helps before jumping to buying a brand new radiator.
      That being said, I swapped my stock radiator out because the FiST's stock radiator is VERY inefficient and caused my FiST to overheat a few times on track or during autocross. So if you plan to track your car at all, I'd recommend swapping to a better aftermarket rad.

    I noticed that orange coolant is what drained out, but you added green dyed coolant. Or is that yellow? Does it matter?
    Thanks. Excellent how-to.

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage  Рік тому +1

      Iirc it was Ford's recommended coolant which was yellow. They allowed a different coolant at some point a few years ago. I made sure it was approved haha. I wouldn't recommend buying random stuff, but they should have the approved coolant to use somewhere online. Can't remember off the top of my head

    Hoping this exact process could be followed for the whoosh radiator; it's available for under $400 right now and I really need to upgrade my rad. Kept putting it off though since it's a really unappealing/"unfun" purchase and I saw how videos like Mishimoto's show it being replaced.. yikes.
