Getting in to 40k was no accident! Really it all began at school when a friend of mine brought in his 40k Rule Book and I was inspired by what I saw! I've been into the wargames hobby in general now for years and really enjoy it! I guess the good thing about wargames is the fact you can fight it out with your opponent on the wargames table without the worry of personal injury to yourself - well most of the time anyway! I think it would be cool to do a 7,500 space marine army vs an endless ork attack
Those are some very well painted Ultramarines. There is a certain softness about the way they're painted. I'd love to know how James accomplished this.
I would also like to know how he achieved those checkered patterns on the orks, decals or painted ??!?

Boyz before toys Luke. Need big blobs of Boyz to stand a chance until we get our codex. Love the speed freakz feel but it just ain't even remotely competitive at the moment. Also - we love our warbosses but never make him your warlord. He needs to get stuck in and will invariably get killed. Make Napoleon the warlord. Also also - where are your wonderful grotz?

Those Orkz are freaking gorgeous. Well done and a great game played!
The stars were shining over Grevan Ferris Maximus in this fight as he stomped his way through the enemy lines turning green to red. Legendary.
And Gutrippa's legend grows too after taking 3 power fist punches straight to the face and not even flinching! He probably just spit out a tooth and grunted, "Dat all yous got?"

Quick note, the Ancients ability to grant an attack after death only effects MODELS within 6" rather than UNITS within 6".
Also, the battle wagon ignored some big terrain with those pipes? Id be intrigued to note if the pipes would have granted the Wagon cover?
If I were playing Orks, id have tried to ignore the Knight and kill everything else. It can only delete 1/2 units a turn yet an entire army shot at it.
I dont think its fair to say the Orks being an index army caused the loss. The Knight was the deciding factor

Great game as always watching your battle reports wants me to start making them for devils brush gaming.
Posterboy codex army versus a bottom tier index army. On the edge of my seat to see how this one turns out.
Orcs have a very solid top 5 placement in the ITC. Bottom tier is full of robots :,(
pannkakssmet I think these folks are writing about the average player, not at the ITC level. For example, just because it's playing high at ITC, like say eldar, doesn't mean it's easy for the average elder player to win a game given they don't spam what's super effective .
Lukas Troller ofc I see what you mean but I don't think it's fair to call the orks weak when they clearly are not.
pannkakssmet I suppose so. I don't know about other Orks players, but for me I'm worried about Orks becoming another generic army (rerolling 1s, the only good faction is -1 to hit, smite spam). For me it takes away the flavor, and Orks are all about being wildly different... anyways
Lukas Troller well, it looks like most army factions are going to be generic, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I need to pick up a few more Space barbie Inceptors. That knight is brutal..

Still learning all the nuances of the rules... Is it a custom rule for this game that the ork vehicle is allowed to climb on those pipes around the 15:30 mark?

Awesome game, I have an ultramarines primaris lieutenant named rambonus after an epic showdown against some orks. My friend modeled a red bandana on him so he looks like rambo :)

Max kennedy index armies can still very much go toe to toe with codex armies, took 3-1 last week w Tau. But I do agree that orks are in a rough place right now comparatively. With the power creep, I'm sure their codex (when it comes) will be awesome.
Exidous96 well you have a point the tau beat gsc last week but they had a heavy deepstrike counterpunch and insane mobility (did you see that coldstar?) combine that with a billion str 5 pulse and burst cannons to rip apart the light infantry and codex or not the gsc had a hard match but in an open match with no real list tailoring the orks were massacred by a non optimised army, ah well I’ll just have to wait for the codex I hope they become good

One question tho: Wouldn't it be a 4+ for the knight to hit cause the melta is a heavy weapon? Sorry I am not really into the 8th rules yet...:(

I wonder why are inceptors not more popular. They are really cheap for what they bring to the table and perfect anti horde unit. Even plasma version is great. Is there more point efficient anti horde unit?
Intercessors are hugely overcosted. Any dedicated anti-armour will take them off the table. Sure, they draw that fire away to themselves, but against most armies with access to Lascannons they are mostly useless.

@SS82, Bomb Squigs are part of the Tankbustas unit. This means they must maintain coherency with the unit and can’t be separately disembarked. If you want to disembark the squigs, you have to disembark the whole unit and expose it to fire. Of course, you might just be running models out because it looks cool, since they have an 18” shooting range anyway.

This is what I like some good old fashioned Ultramarines Vs Orks. One thing I like the jungle scatter terrain like the bushes and long grass, where did you get it ? did you make it on your own ? also where can I get European WW2 French country fields scatter for 15mm Flames of War or 28mm Bolt Action, I'm in Spain but I can order from all over Europe with zero difficulty. I've got hedgerows but no bushes or long grass pieces.
its the old GW jungle set...they don't do it anymore. Best place to try...aquatic shops:)

That was a funny game. Would have enjoyed watching the Gorkanaught go up against the Knight. The last melee was epic. Could envision both sides ducking, slashing and weaving amongst the battle wagon and knight wreckage. Magic stuff.
Our gaming circle won't have special characters or knights in any game under 2000 pts. Fluff wise, it doesn't make sense to us, however, each to their own. Was a hoot to watch as always, fellas... Be well!

The shooting at the knight was so disappointing. The ROKKITS and squigs should have brought the knight down. I felt for you there. Too sad.

To be fair the orks put up a good show for an index army maybe if the knight died to all the rokkits and squigs the orks might have turned the tables and pushed up into the UM lines
killthenerd5 to be fair vs other index armies orks are near the top if you play them well (90+ boyz da jump KFF and pain boy or a dread mob) but yeah ork codex better have stuff to stop this fall out of combat and shoot nonsense

Between this and the plus channel they have won 3 games to date with 1 draw and 6 losses.
I really don't get what the hell is GW's game with primaris marines. While the Marines faired good because this is Orks- if this was Dark Angels, Eldar, Tau, etc- they would have been slaughtered. They're just a too low model count army for the bang you get from them. Intercessors aren't really durable because all they have is a 3+ save, and with saturation of special weapons, the 2wounds is pretty worthless without any invul. They're a half assed step between Custodes and normal Marines/terminators.
