Just from the perspective of someone watching who is just learning about the game, it is hard to image how it’s a fair fight with all the tanks and artillery the imperial guard have in this match up.
The Wraithknight and the Avatar are a major points sink for what the bring to the table. They look impressive, but thats about it. Keep up the great work! Love your battle reports!
Haven't watched it yet but these mission scenarios where the units kind of trickle in are usually pretty exciting all the way through. Less of an emphasis on the Turn 1 opening salvo.
Earthshaker on the Basilisk gets to roll 2d6 for determining number of shots, discard the lowest. That ontop of the Catachan doctrine makes them pretty reliable.

Couldn't help but LOL at the wraithknight and dark reaper rolls (and commentary) T3! Great game so far though, a very interesting mission, not played it but will try it out soon.
Luke, don't forget the Guardian Defenders weapon platform does have a profile. The important bit being it has a 3+ save and 2W. However it is destroyed if all Guardians are killed.
Great game as always Luke, you have a generous style -! I really must question the Guard player's last movement phase though- watching at 1:34:20(ish) he moves his Primaris Psyker and Company Commander to flank your prince (and to make sure to get the Smite against him) effectively blocking the squad behind from moving on to the objective. . . whoops. . .and then goes on to issue the Move Move Move command and move his infantry squad right over both the Psyker model and Prince Yriel as though they weren't there. Pretty basic.
great batrep, however I think there were some rules mistakes made by the guard. Take cover for example was FAQed so that it can only be used on infantry. also I think the basilisk is 2d6 pick the highest shots.
Last time I played eldar I had my 2+ hit autarch miss, reroll and miss and using up a cp, bit recovering it and miss again. Needed one of those to go through. Instead the bloody razorback survived and proceeded (after being tended by a techmarine) to blast a 20 guardian blob to pieces. I slowly start feeling like eldar could use some more efficient shooting (buff everything and nerf the hemlock)
Ouch, you've made 6 mistakes in like 5 minutes at 00:55:00. The Leman is T8 so all catapults are wounding it on 6+ only. The Dire Avengers are Eldar with Battle Focus so they don't suffer minuses for advancing, Shining Spear Exarch has S8 on his lance so he wounds on 4+. There must be some disturbance in the Warp or something, you should've taken psykers to grant you some clairvoyance :D
These poor guardians must have felt so useless standing back there and seeing their leadership get wrecked. They should've been equipped with shuriken cannons to advance up the board and try to clear out guardsmen which is the perfect job for them. Basically u've payed 170 points for a twin brightlance platform and 250 points for a single melta shot :D
with a patrol and battalion shouldn't it be 8 (5 for battalion+3 for battleforging) due to the big FAQ changes? there's so much paperwork to the game now it's maddening.
Great game guys, even though the guard list was a great mix it was still to strong for the Eldar list, needed to get the Avatar in combat quicker for sure. Really enjoyed watching it though and looking forward to the next one. Cheers.
Rather than ulthwe Autarch, you should have made Yriel your Warlord. So you're wraithknight and falcon could still be at maximum until they had their last few wounds, and he would once a psychic phase be able to deny the witch.
SPOILERS: I would like to point out that, prior to this game, you were exactly 50/50 on your 8th edition CTS win/loss record. You're once again on the short side of that. ;)
damn the 10+ eldar sixes straight at the beginning followed by an average of 70% ones from guard was a pretty obnoxious start, guard general throw away those dices, never put the most dug face on 1 cause its gonna be the lighter and physically land more often on top, it's a pretty common sad cheat nowadays buying custom dices with huge deep icons on the 6 face
Great video. I love your content. I appreciate you playing the models you like and trying to make them work. Clearly more competitive units could have been used but gosh it gets so boring to see the same old Eldar lists ie wave serpents, hemlocks, warlocks etc. You mentioned that you use house terrain rules which might explain something right off the bat I was confused about. Around 16 mins in your dire avengers shoot at some guardsmen behind those big metal tubes but from the camera angle I can't see how they would have seen each other. Don't you need line of sight?
it was a bad mistake to not move the Avengers in turn 2. You could have moved around the corner, then fire on the infantry and assault the tank, this would have changed the following IG action dramatically. In turn 3 you really messed up the order of firing. The dice were bad but the order of firing was so as well...
You say “I reckon” a lot lol. Living in the US I’ve always thought that was a country American type thing to say, mostly because the only people I’ve really heard say it are my grandparents who are from a 500 person town in the middle of nowhere, aka Kansas.
Is it worth taking sponsons with your LR? Always feel like you are forcing your vehicle to remain stationery with them and the points are spent better elsewhere. Plus they are ugly. ^^
I do think the extra firepower is worth it on such a durable vehicle and I play Tallarn so I don't care about moving with my tanks. But I do think they're ugly so I don't have them on all of my vehicles. :)
There's always that point in a AM batrep where I just kind of skip forward. "Here I go firing with my 10th tank. Oh, btw, I get re-rolls on everything." Yawn. "Oh, here, let me roll on your turn, too, to steal your command points." Can I just have my own turn without you hogging up the gameplay, for the love of Pete? Great videos though, SS82. Just getting tired of Guard...
I think you guys may need to go back and reread your codexes. Russes have 12 wounds, not 14. You had first blood in your first turn. Eldar have battle focus, that's why nearly the entire army have assault weapons, ADVANCE. You have so many nice strategems that you could be using but you consistantly ignore them for dice rerolls. Please consider the criticism from your fans, I love your battle reports but it seems like every video you get flooded with comments on simple rule mistakes. Keep it up, just leave your book open.

You NEED psychic support. Quicken can make the shining Spears get an easy first turn charge. And doom and guide are crazy good.

you should organise a campaign so the games interlink and have an extra layer of meaning. that tau blood angels game was lit.

Take Cover was also played on the tank, but that's been FAQed to not work on tanks.
The heavy weapons platforms in guardian defender squads have a stat line save of a 3+ with two wounds
