This was mentioned on your last vid, but the XV-109 doesn't have a flight mode. It moves like a swooping monstrous creature in the movement phase only, that's it. It lands back on it's feet. It's basically like a super jump pack. It can be shot at and assaulted normally when it makes this move. Hope this helps and makes it a little less scary. :)
31 mins in, giving cover to your immortals from those measely sparse boxes and barrels which a 9ft tall crisis suit would comfortably be shooting over is ridiculous! Lovely table btw, hats off!
Man, would've hated to be in the cockpit of that XV-109 just then: ua-cam.com/video/yjUxNFJkTQA/v-deo.htmlm35s Watching his systems start to flash red, the 109 pilot loses his nerve and turns the suit to flee, priming the thrusters in hopes of escaping skyward. Unfortunately, time for such ploys has run out. Wraiths have shredded the armored plates of the suit's legs; latching onto them with their claws and hauling backward as the Spider slams into the top half causing the suit to topple. Once on the ground, the scraping sound of dozens of metallic legs hitting the hull tell the pilot there will be no escape as scarabs swarm through the ruptures in the suit's exoskeleton, ruthlessly pursuing the base directive shared by all necrons; extinguishing the living.
I have never yet attempted anything that ambitious concerning writing. I mean it's one thing writing embellished descriptions of battle report stories, and another thing entirely to invent an original and congruous story in a novel. In truth I'm not sure I'd be up to it. I actually haven't read any of the 40k novels that are out there, so I don't know what's been told, what's historically accurate involving them, and other random excuses like that. I think I'm actually scared to try something like that...
Batreps (and 40k in general,) benefit so much from games like this. With two forces that are more or less balanced it was very entertaining to watch. GG scorpion
Apparently, that wasn't as one-sided as your Imperial guard and Ork match ups were, but, sadly, when heard lists and dawn of war deployment I already knew who would win This Necron list is cheesy as hell, so it would be great to see a batrep with not less cheesy Eldar. But after all this critique i want to honestly say... "Sir, That report was truly gorgeous! Great narrative and fluffy down to the bones. Keep that quality up!"
THAT game seemed closer than the end game points indicated. Tristan's Tau gave the mechanical Nids a run for their terabytes. My U-Tube payment method has expired and it will be a wee bit for the opportunity to get into the post office for a new one. Am looking forward to having a cluster of your vids to watch when it's all cleared up. Thanks again Luke and Tristan..... Pointy ears forever!!
you should consider switching to farsighted enclaves; commander titanfall SERIOUSLY lacked close combat killing power, with the farsighted rules, you could have given him fusion blades (str8 AP1 adjournment and blind) it also doubles up as a twin linked fusion blaster. other than that, great batrep guys
I feel the use of the Retribution Cadre put the Tau at a disadvantage, against that Necron list a fully deployed Tau army could have wiped the first Canoptek Harvest and used Drones and Fire Warriors as road blocks. As powerful as the Retribution Cadre is you need full use of every shooting phase to get through the reanimation of the Necrons.
Tristan's big mistake this game was that he started by targeting the wraiths, he could rather easily have picked off the spiders first removing the reanimation protocols from the wraiths.
Hey Luke, I am really enjoying your content. I think your lord would be better served with a veil of darkness relic rather than the gauntlet and rather than the night scythe transport for the lychguard and you could then either add an extra wraith to each canoptyk harvest or adjust wargear enough to afford the second nightscyte for the second sduad of warriors instead. I have noticed from some games your lychguard do not make combat until turn four or five. This may put your warlord in more danger but with all the fast moving elements of your list I think he would be ok. Keep up the great work!
4+ Feel no Pain on top of a 3+ Invuln save seems pretty ridiculous for the points cost on those Wraiths. Hopefully we'll see a challenge from a list that can take down the Necrons soon.
when 2 characters enter a challenge, I do not think that they stop until one dies, so the attack of these lychguard that killed financial was not allowed (but don't quote me on that)
Hey! I'm pretty new to War Hammer 40k . I've been doing alot of research the past few months and currently can't decide what faction I wan't to start collecting first. The Necron's and Tau (Maybe Space Wolves) are the ones I'm stuck on. What would be your decision on which one you would choose and why?
ThePastyPrince it really depends on you and what you like most. But all things even, I think the Necrons are the best army for beginners. They have very streamlined armies, which means less choices, which I think is a good thing for beginners. Decurion for beginners will help erase the bad mistakes you will make in-game. They have no access to psychic, which adds to their "ease". And they are the easiest army to paint.
the pasty prince what tabe8 8 said ^ ill add my 2 cents by saying pick an army that is definitive in what it does i play tau and space wolves and can say they both are good learning armies as ive taught a few people from scratch. Space wolves are solely close combat and thats fun to play and tau are a pure shooty army and also fun to play (except if they play against the raven wing then its a fish man blood bath). In short dont pick an army that douse a bit of everything like orks, tyranids or eldar as it can get frustrating against experienced players who know exactly what units they can kill first turn which ones they can ignore and which ones they can tank the damage from. Ps if you know someone who plays already ask them to set aside a few hours for you to play a few proxy games at a low points value so you can try out a couple of armys and see what you like.
Necrons are the most forgiving, but all three of those armies are pretty dang good. To keep it simple, Tau are shooty, necrons are resilient, and SW are fast and strong in melee (my favourite). As a beginner I'd choose necrons because they are pretty straight forward to play and are easy to paint. The painting thing is actually a big deal as playing with a painted army feels SO much better.
+Fenix Reborn I know right. I would make room for the points. I would drop an immortal, tomb blade, and/or some other war gear to get the coils on wraiths. If the points line up funny, I will leave a whipless wraith out front of a unit to catch the first bullets.
Uff uff uff What an Epic clash ❗️ (Spoiler) That Necrones have counter-attack the storm of firepower of the Tau Those Spiders reanimating themselves and Wraiths and even killing XV-889 Impresive Firepower from Tau but even impresive movility and agility to get closer as fast as they can and take advange from their close cuarters. The strategy of Tau would work with any other enemy but with coulden't had take dawn that unstopable famous of the army of Ta'men Ra. Very well played both of you Tristan and Luke In the Turn 2 of Tau I thougth that Necrons were in serious trouble and the may get the game really fast but Luke has react with the tenaci of a Necron Warrior. Epic epic Battle Luke you have your victory and show to C.Titanfall her place on the chanel really on the high top but unable to stop the vertiginous climbing of the Necrons of ranking. I really enjoy it I love battles like that Keep doing that style of videos Luke ,just too cool. 🤘🏻👏🏼 I hope more videos like that, it being becomes some type of drug for me ... Just kidding je je Tristan, Luke is an advanced player but your young army is really powerfull don't doub it. It has the power to put Luke on his limits. Not even an army full of C'Tan would do it better. Exelent strategy 👍🏻 Salutations from Barcelona,Spain Good gamming guys I like even more when you enojoy those hard battles too. 😊 See you in the next Battle Reaport :3
If my wife let's me when we eventually visit the UK I would love to show you an army that effectively would have done the same thing. It's my "Iron rain" Clan Raukaan Powerful but fluffy list. 7 Drop pods filled with Ironclads Dreadnaughts, Assault centurions, and my now famous/infamous Honor Guard squad. Don't yell at me that they installed a single squad that gets power swords and artificer armor for 25 points a model, Plus assuming the banner holder is alive 5 attacks on the charge...
Pardon my language but in my local gaming club we have a saying... "Ooooooo look. Forge World bull sh*t" Stunning model tho. Shame I know the designer. I keep trying to get him to make some Dark Eldar stuff but he won't have any of it. 😡 dam him. Lol.
That's just silly. Pretty much all of the most powerful units are Games Workshop, not Forge World. That's always been the case, but some people still have this daft aversion to Forge World stuff.
What did you do to build up your ruins terrain? I'm looking into building up a table for my friends and I starting with some city ruins. I didn't think they came with all of the rubble and the ground floor tiles and they look really nice!
How did the lord disembark when he came on? You can't get out of a vehicle if it moves more than 6 inches, and with where the suits where there is no way he could have moved on 6 if it has a hover mode.

A truely terrible insertion plan by the Tau commander. You have such long range with the table gaping and you drop where you'll easily be boxed in! He needs to go back to the sims booth and refine his art before he gets another command!!
Feedback - the quotes and hype comments between each turn are really cheesy and for me detract from the video. Would be better with just a single slide informing us who's turn is next
24:50 - Necron flyer was opened topped so should have blown up with the AP 1 of the fusion gun. Honestly, read you codex before you film a game and embarrass yourself
Nope. Read it yourself: only the Arks, Barges and Stalker are open topped. The Flyers, Monolith, and Superheavies are all properly built. Ignore the exposed pilot model, he's just for decoration.

honest mistake on battlescribe, sorry!
I disagree it stays in flight on its first jump and then lands on the next turn
Read it again, keeping in mind the difference between a "Phase" (movement phase in this case) and a "Turn".
31 mins in, giving cover to your immortals from those measely sparse boxes and barrels which a 9ft tall crisis suit would comfortably be shooting over is ridiculous! Lovely table btw, hats off!

write a book, seriously,
Captainofmysoul Hear! Hear!
There is a reason for this question, Fenix. Would you write a 40k novel if the opportunity fell in your lap?
I have never yet attempted anything that ambitious concerning writing. I mean it's one thing writing embellished descriptions of battle report stories, and another thing entirely to invent an original and congruous story in a novel. In truth I'm not sure I'd be up to it. Always love your battle reports. I have them on at work in the corner of my screen. Makes me want to battle as soon as possible!
lol! Glad you enjoy the videos:)
Apparently, that wasn't as one-sided as your Imperial guard and Ork match ups were, but, sadly, when heard lists and dawn of war deployment I already knew who would win

But after all this critique i want to honestly say... "Sir, That report was truly gorgeous! Great narrative and fluffy down to the bones. Keep that quality up!"
i've grown to hate the necrons mostly because of that reanimation roll success in the previous games
hey the necrons are amazing and they are like the terminator they quickly delete their foes eat that necron hater
i love these videos so much. i just wish i had those armies and terrain
Ha! I just opened UA-cam thinking "I wonder when the next Striking Scorpion video- Aha!"

So...what, you're going on an involuntary SS82 vacation? Is that even legal? ;)
Fenix Reborn I am rebel.
It'll be like when I first started watching SS82. A massive binge fest of batreps. A definite pizza and beer night.
Awesome! Sweet bat rep guys.
Angel's Blade review coming soon?
Good thing the 'Crons didn't try to hunker down - although they're very durable, they lack the range to play a bunker-and-trench game against Tau.
Great looking armies, great looking table, nice game. Good work SS82!
thanks:)
when i saw that mishap-less deepstrike on a heavy terrain board followed up by that firepower i thought the necrons were done for.
Great BatRep. That could have gone either way till the end.
Two canoptek harvests is exceedingly harsh
you should do a 5000 point apocalypse match of Dark eldar vs eldar.
would be good:)
you should consider switching to farsighted enclaves; commander titanfall SERIOUSLY lacked close combat killing power, with the farsighted rules, you could have given him fusion blades (str8 AP1 adjournment and blind) it also doubles up as a twin linked fusion blaster. other than that, great batrep guys
Great video! Keep up the awsome work!
thanks:)
Nice work guys.
Nice bat rep, but that Necron army looks very boring and even frustrating to face.
I feel the use of the Retribution Cadre put the Tau at a disadvantage, against that Necron list a fully deployed Tau army could have wiped the first Canoptek Harvest and used Drones and Fire Warriors as road blocks.

Roll a 1 cocked dice roll a 6 kill point
Tristan's big mistake this game was that he started by targeting the wraiths, he could rather easily have picked off the spiders first removing the reanimation protocols from the wraiths.
Epic showdown between mighty enemies of imperium. Sit down battle-brothers and enjoy the show :D

is it FNP? I thought he was using reanimation, which Wraiths don't have.
Yeah, its reanimation granted by the formation, but it functions exactly as FNP.
RHINO_Mk.II Thanks, I thought I was going insane
great table!
when 2 characters enter a challenge, I do not think that they stop until one dies, so the attack of these lychguard that killed financial was not allowed (but don't quote me on that)
Another good video and I think the tau could be victorious 😄
Have i imagined it or does he keep taking reanimation rolls for his Wraiths? Next question, do Wraiths have reanimation now?
Good Stuff
What happened to all those matches in the beginning of the season? UA-cam won't let me watch them.
when will the eldar return? I'd love to see them again!
We do plan a lot more games with them:)

What did you do to build up your ruins terrain? I'm looking into building up a table for my friends and I starting with some city ruins. I didn't think they came with all of the rubble and the ground floor tiles and they look really nice!
Thanks. I plan on making terrain tutorials for city ruins in the future:)
StrikingScorpion82PLUS that would be fantastic! Keep up the good work! I love your videos
ok thanks:)
I don't think spiders have 4 attacks on the charge, I think it's 3
@24:50 the necron flyer was immobilized did you roll to see if you crash and burn?
Resolved at 34:00 mins nevermind :)
Scorpion82 how are remora's I just got some so I'm not sure if there worth there point cost.
How did the lord disembark when he came on? You can't get out of a vehicle if it moves more than 6 inches, and with where the suits where there is no way he could have moved on 6 if it has a hover mode.
Night scythes can zoom and still allow passengers to disembark. They beam in the troops UFO-style.
huh ok then
I love your bat reps keep up the good work however you played the Necrons completely wrong they no longer play like they did in 7th
I would love to know how the guy painted the tau tan armour for his crisis suits? Can someone get him to message me back or if he has painting guide?
Necrons seem OP... Do they have any weak points? And how come they don't cost more if they are so ridiculous?
Magnus Nygaard Necrons not in a decurian formation are beatable, but you'll be dealing with more Crypteks and a couple other tricks.
YEA! YEA! YEA! I haven't seen it yet but i love you ss82 or as i like to call u SS*@!!!!! its the extreme version. It's like when you get perils of the warp but roll a 6 for the result. So you get the power off and you get beefed up. Best time is when your casting iron arm on yourself you end up periling and rolling a 6, your super pumped offensively and defensively now. Plus if you have a force axe your strength 8 ap 2 armourbane 4 attacks on the charge... not to shabby. Get a Warp speed off now its 7 attacks..at I10

cheddar vs red leicester
lol:)
Dude, 3++ save and 4+ reanimation protocol is infuriating to play against. Even the most atomizing weaponry hase only 16% chance of inflicting ONE WOUND.
bloodangel hammernators led by a sanguinary priest have 2+/3++/5+++
hey guys im brand new in wh40k and i want to start with necrons, i only want to buy one box to get started (plus paints and brushes) do u have any suggestion on what box i should pickup furst? thanks
There is a Start Collecting! Necrons box that is great value. Its also a formation in it self so its more or less plugg and play. If you listen to competative players the stalker is not worth it but the model is awsome and good enough for friendly games. GL with you army and there are lots of online forums with helpful ppl.
Yes...the 'Start Collecting Necrons' is a good place to start:)
So I want to start war hammer 40k, but I'm only 14.
whatever happened to the Kroot are they not good at all?
Not as good as they used to be. Although I still really do like the models:)
Dude you have got to learn about that yvara riptide. thats two batreps youve totally got wrong with him. HE DOES NOT FLY. he moves like a flyer. thats it.... one jump, just the one jump. He is NEVER in flight mode. you can ALWAYS charge him. please read his rules properly

especially before you make a video about it.
Anyone else think the wraiths look cute?
the flechet pods on yvara only work on the turn it jumps. and you cant ground it. wow read the rules
honest mistake on battlescribe, sorry!
Aren't lych guard phase swords pseudo rending
you can't assault with a Necrons warriors when they have shooted in the previous shooting phase with supporting fire weapon 😀
It's because he's running them in a Decurion formation. It gives them Relentless.
Ah ok...I'm a new player of this game...i didnt know! Thank you😀
Isn't the flier open topped?
Cron-ssaints are some of the few Necron craft that aren't open topped - apart from Monoliths and Superheavies.
Not...another....Necron....victory. Either your list is too good, your tactics are too good, your opponents are not that good, or Necrons are OP. Will we see some Necron-free, less lopsided battles in the near future?
I do a few games with an army then rotate them around:)
music name at 20:45 pls!!!
Luke always posts what music he used and where to get it in the video credits.
Read the Tau codex or IA not battlescribe.

poor deployment choices from Tau.
necrons are an incredibly unattractive army. Just unkillable tyranids.
