This is awesome dEk. I don't know what to say other than thank you 👍 No doubt I will have a lot to say the next time I get smashed and listen to your channel 🤣 However, for now. I absolutely love the way you've set a tone and mood with the pads when they come in. The doubling up and extra octaves in the first chorus is just awesome. I really do like that type of pad ensemble and the mood and weight it can bring to a track. It's really easy to overpower and screw up the bottom end of a mix with low pads but this works perfectly and the bass line and kick don't go missing. I'm also impressed with the sound for that ascending melody thing, it works really well 👍 Cheers, Dave.

Great track, and one of my favourites by Devo.
They are now on their final tour, I believe. This track also appeared on possibly the best compilation album of the early 1980's - 'Methods Of Dance', a great collection of electronic music: BEF-Groove Thang; DAF-Der Mussolini; Devo-Going Under, etc. The cassette version had a load more tracks than the album, and some (at the time) rare 12" versions. There was a 'Methods Of Dance' volume 2, but other than a track by The Human League (aka. The Men), it was nowhere near as good.

Yes, I saw they were on their final tour. Do you think it will be similar to the Soft Cell ‘final’ tour? Or the Cher ‘farewell tour’ which lasted more than 2 years? 🤣 I do rememember that Methods of Dance’ album. A bit of an oddity. Also contained Simple Minds ‘Love Song’ as I recall. There were some great compilations in the 80”s. Both Some Bizarre compilations contained some great tracks. I also had a compilation called Small Hits and Near Misses featuring I’m Falling by Dead or Alive and Freedom Fighters by Dalek I Love You 😎

I think that this is definitely a final tour - Drummer Alan Myers died, as did Bob 2, a bit more recently. A large retrospective box set has been released, but I have the feeling that's it, sadly.
There was a brilliant interview with Devo in 'Electronic Sound' Magazine #103 (#notspon).

One of the best comps ever. I sh1t myself the first time I heard they way Fascist Groove Thang ended and was edited into Going Under, then there was Der Mussolini, which I think was produced by Conny Plank. Although side one has most of the heavy hitters, for my taste. Love Song on side two is one of those tracks from that really special time for Simple Minds. They don't make songs or comps like that anymore. Cheers, Dave.

@@DavidHarry - And, of course, it contained one of Martin Rushent's astonishing Human League remixes, some time before their 'Love And Dancing' remix album. 'Do Or Die', if I remember rightly.

Yes, I think you’re right. It was the first time any of Martin’s remixes appeared on anything before Unlimited Orchestra. It’s a shame what League 2 did to him, especially as he gave them so much. It was actually quite prophetic. League 2 were languishing in nowhere land after the attempt with John Leckie and Martin “picked them out and turned them into something new”. While Dare is a fantastic album with some amazing songs on it, I’m personally a League 1 fan. Along with the likes of OMD, League 1 were a very important band that unfortunately didn’t get the success they deserved. Very important for the UK electronic scene and a huge influence to many synth, electronica genres that followed. Only to be bettered by DEVO 😂 Cheers, Dave.
