Marianne was originally recorded and released by The Human League as part of their Holiday '80 E.P. The E.P was released in April 1980, one month before the release of their second album Travelogue and reached no.56 on the UK singles chart.

Lovely stuff! I was listening to some of your older covers, and wondering where you had gone. I often have breaks from the internet - I read a lot, and a pile of books needed to be checked out.
Sounds are spot on, yet again, even that odd little percussive 'synthetic castanets' sound, which I always liked. The League Mk.1 are my favourite iteration of the band. Not as poppy, but tons, and tons of ideas. I mean, what other band would put out a Flexi disc with a record (The Dignity Of Labour 1-4), in lieu of sleevenotes? And then use most of the space to have an argument, and read small ads from the local paper? Genius. Phil says a couple of lines pertinent to the record, near the end. And that's it. - it's included as an extra track on the CD of 'Reproduction', if I remember correctly. I play that, instead of the actual disc.

Thank you. I think I kind of overlooked this song when it cam out originally. I was far more taken with Being Boiled. However, I recently started listening to this again and thought I'd give it a go
