Bauhaus Staircase is taken from OMD's forthcoming album of the same name scheduled to be released 27 October 2023. The album was largely written during lockdown.
Andy McCluskey is quoted as saying “The song is a metaphor for strength and artist passion in the face of criticism and adversity. When times are hard, there is a tendency for Governments to look at cutting funding for creativity, just at the moment when the arts are most needed to nourish our souls."

Ha! Ha!... You are on the ball. I posted this just minutes ago! I really love the single and thought I'd attempt something 'modern' Seems a shame they are saying this will be the last album, they seem to have a lot of creativity left. Can't wait to hear the album :)
@@dek1014 I'm really looking forward to the album too. Paul said the songs will be more "political", which is a bit worrying to be honest. I can understand that, everyone is worried right now. I hope there won't be any extremes, but that's not their style either
Knew this was a great cover, even before I had heard the original. It sounds great & I know from past experience you set your standards high. Heard the original on the radio for the first time today, recognised it straight away. Shows they still have an ear for a great melody, as do you. Keep us guessing with the eclectic choices. Love it.
