So as a quick followup : A few things to consider before buying that have become clear now that I've beaten all the current content : There are bugs on this early access that won't show up til like 3-4 hours in. Also the content is roughly 5 hours long in the current early access build. This is one of those cases where I think 30 minutes wasn't enough for me to get you guys fully informed, but those two things I think ended up being important enough for consideration that I added this pinned message. So bear those two things in mind before you decide whether or not the early access is for you.
Everyone, especially the Devs, should definitely go watch your Twitch stream of this game from today to see what needs work. That constant undermining of the gameplay by the in-game Event nerfs was painful to watch, as was the long, long run-up to upgrading the forge stall.
I was watching the vod on twitch and was 2 hours into the 3.5 hour VOD and it says it's been deleted or removed? I closed twitch and reopened your channel and it's gone?
Hi! Thank you so much for your support and attention to the game. It means a lot to us. We already released the hotfix last night and currently working on a new one. We are grateful to the community that supports us. Thank you, guys.
Great additional information there, Splat! I agree this brings new considerations, however personally I know these projects are both costly and time consuming. I'm happy to buy now and support their forward movement for a Smith Sim with an actual story. Been wanting!
Bought it the minute it dropped, largely due to your demo coverage. A project I don't mind supporting at all. Excellent title! Thanks, Splat! Hope you're doing well!
I won't be watching because I don't want any spoilers, but I'll leave a comment and a like. I found the game because I saw your other video about it and have been waiting for it to release in early access so thank you for what you do :3
You find some real gems. I don't look for many games, myself, so am very glad to watch you showcase software I'd never see otherwise. Thanks. I bet the developers are happy for the exposure too.
I somehow landed on the Potion Permit video and then on this. They both tickle my fancy very, very much. The lovely sprite work and the crafting. I'll snatch them as soon as they go full release. Thank you!
I've been following this game since the last time you covered it and even played the demo over the weekend. The only thing I noticed that really sucked is the negatives from having low rep. I had such low rep with both England and France that I was kind of hosed when it came to progressing forward. Lost Prestige everyday and the cost to upgrade or build rooms was increased by 70%. I do like the random traits you can get. Both of my characters got some type of religious trait that made it so they would randomly just stop and pray for a little bit. At least they didn't stop when in the middle of doing a task, just between them.
It looks like the negatives are designed to outweigh the possessives, forcing you to choose a side England vs France, Religious vs evil; So that you dont just end up with 0 rep with everyone.
Makes sense and the demo ended before I got a chance to course correct one direction or the other. I didn't bother playing through again. I'm definitely interested to see what the positives will be for having a high rep with someone.
I kinda feel like they should add animations for all the smelting/forging/crucible stuff, the loading bar instead of animation is kinda lame when you consider it's a game about smithing, so I hope that's just temporary
This is one of those moments when I realize I'm "old". Because my first thought is "yer fancy pretty pictures RUINED video gaming!" Bahahaha (obviously as in, graphics being more important to younger people than content) This is mostly a joke at myself, because I grew up with games that wouldn't even be remembered if something like this was released back then haha. Just my 2 cents, the progress bar is fine; game doesn't need resources spent on special animations when crafting.
“I just do crazy stuff and life keeps rewarding me..” I have never been more envious. Never. I try to do everything right and still get dicked all up and down.
Someone else a while ago pointed out that a proper blacksmith does NOT "...grip the hammer tight...". I noticed that they have not changed this in the opening.
I'm confused, in this time period wouldn't the social status of a skilled tradesman be at least lateral to that of a prosperous merchant's daughter? Thry were both third estate. I would think the apprentice a good match up for her, if a bit premature.
@@rembrandt972ify the estates were a social class system used in the middle age Francd til the french revolution. I am not sure when the game is meant to take place but it's probably not after the revolution. It doesnt sound like the merchant is gentry, but they're probably bourgoisie. Some places split up the third into another, with the bourg above the fourth but that trends towards Russia and Scandinavia. So maybe that's thr problem- he's fourth and she, aa a burgher, is third? And at minimum the merchant would use his daughter to gain favour with the other burghers at worst and nobles at best?
@@Avenus112 The game is set during the Hundred Years War, 1337-1453. Both merchants and craftsmen were third estate, at least in France. Just looking at wiki shows me the 3 estates began around the 11th century. An affluent craftsperson could be sought after by a tradesperson as everyone loves money. I guess you were right in your original post and I was wrong.
@@rembrandt972ify thankyou for your expanding on my thoughts. I could be overstating the tradesman's status here though, especially at the start. Maybe the idea is to grow into the sort of burgher that would gain the social status to appeal to an already prosperous one? If so that would be consistent.
The the game appears to be arguing that the merchant as well as the jackass smith are both moneyed skilled trademen, while the smith you play is a poor skilled trademan. It is not arguing that authur is of a different class than the merchants daughter, just that he needs a bigger purse if he is to have a chance. I do not know much French history, but I would be rather surprised if any country did not consider resources as well as social status in any marriage proposal.
Hey, Splatter, thanks for the video! Could you have a play of Ballads of Hongye, which is a city building game with a very strong Asian cultural style. The art and architecture of this game is the most beautiful I have ever seen, although the developer introduced it as a city-building game, but I feel more like a survival game and the opposite of Frostpunk!
