  • Making a Giant Gnome on the Lathe!
Sure making the little guys is fun but it was time to turn a giant. Half the fun of being a maker is pushing yourself to try new things and going big is always more fun. Some mistakes were made but in the end it all worked out. I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching.

I've never seen gnomes that big!!! Great looking too!
I use a lot of Titebond wood glue and have never had a glue-up fail on me.
You can't glue 2x6's together without flattening all of the mating surfaces.Clamp them together with several clamps and leave for 24 hours.I guarantee you that the wood will fail before any Titebond wood glue joints do!
Titebond comes in 3 different grades.
Number 1 is for general use and is not water resistant.
    Type 2 is water resistant
Type 3 (is what I use) is waterproof and has the longest work time.I use it on end grain cutting boards and although the cutting boards get washed and abused I have never had a cutting board fail.
    Good luck and have fun!

Try using a big dowel make 4, 5 or more 1 in DOWELLs glue glue glue put cuts across the boards also then maybe epoxy instead of glue or use Gorilla glue that’s what I would do just the inner boards maybe hey it’s covered with fur anyway even if you go all the way thru just don’t do the top board of the hat all the way thru epoxy will hold much better Gorilla Glue is also good

If you used pressure treated wood it may have been to wet. Glue and wet wood won't stay together very long. Use a moisture meter. Looks great 👍.
