That has to be the best gnome video I have ever seen. I absolutely love the idea of using one piece of wood for the body and the hat, and the light burn to make a different color. I also really enjoyed the top hats on some of them. Great job!
i always feel jealous when I see someone use of your comically large bowl/spindle gouge. I should just go buy a 2 inch gouge.... i wonder if they make a 3 inch lol
I echo what Do It Yourself Jim said, "I absolutely love the idea of using one piece of wood for the body and the hat, and the light burn to make a different color. I also really enjoyed the top hats on some of them. " Totally agree. Have watched a lot of videos and love yours bestest! Great job!!
I love how you burn the hats and put a design on them. They are a decent size too. Many just seem to widdle away the blank to nothing and I can't figure out why woodturners waste so much of the wood...making so much more of a mess.
I drill the hole for the nose. Glue on the beard then insert the nose. In most cases the fit is tight enough that no glue is needed to hold on the nose.
To save on time and wood for nose, no tenon and attach with a piece of thick gauged fencing wire..drilled and hammer in.
By far the best gnome instructional video I've seen. Very simple for a beginner to watch and understand.
Thank you.
Well thank you. I’m glad you found value in it. Happy turning!

Very nice,Thank you for sharing your video.

So glad I could be apart of your wood turning journey. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment.

Thank you for this lovely video . They are superb
Good vid! Funny how the ones with a tophat look like a ZZTop gnome! :o)
Where do you get the fur? Nice job!!
Hobby Lobby but most places that sell fabric will have at least one color available.
@@BusyWrenCreations Thank you I checked out Hobby Lobby. They have a nice selection and at a decent price.
They have so much more character than most I’ve seen. I especially love the top hats.
I love your gnomes. Maybe I missed something, but what are you using for the beards? Thanks.
Faux Fur from Hobby Lobby
@@BusyWrenCreations Thanks.
Can you show how to burn the hats. Thanks Al
I LOVE these guys! Nice work, you make it look so easy, but I know you've spent a lot of time perfecting them. Again, Bravo!
Where do you get the fake fur at?
Great job. Do you glue in the nose first or add the fur then drill for the nose?
I drill the hole for the nose. Glue on the beard then insert the nose. In most cases the fit is tight enough that no glue is needed to hold on the nose.
Great job on making these gnomes 👍
Great video.
These look great Chris -- what size was the cherry you were using for the nose?
1-1/2in Cherry Dowels turned to desired shape.
Excellent short video.
Thank you
I've found that there is a lot of gnome collectors out there
Indeed there are. I would haven’t thought it before I started making these guys but now they are a staple of my inventory.
What size pine did you begin with before turning it to cylinder? Did you glue two pieces together to get enough thickness?
3-1/2 by 3-1/2in pine. No glue required. But I have made giant gnomes by glueing together 2x12 pine boards.
Nice work
FYI
Gnomes have eyes
Nisses from Norway do not have eyes
Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Where do you get the fur you use for the beards?
Hobby Lobby
Fantastic looking gnomes made in a simple manner.
Thank you!
look great, what were the dimensions of the blank Please
I think this is the easiest way to make these little dudes that I have seen so far. Fun!
very beautiful. Congratulations
👍
Are all of your one piece? Also love the work
Whats the diameter of most of those?
They are made from 4x4 post so most end up between 3-1/4in and 3-1/2in in diameter.
Thanks.
Where did you get the faux fur from?
what do u charge for these guys? c
happy I found your channel
