- In this week’s project Harry and I will have to start decorating for Christmas by turning some rustic Christmas Gnomes. The wood used is a bit of Ash for the body and the hats are maple and walnut. All the noses and balls for the hats are made from a bit of scrap red oak. Really any wood can work so it’s a great way to get rid of some scraps!

Lots of work in the small details. The end result is fantastic though. HAHA Love those little guys!
Thanks! I realized midway that's there's a much easier way to go about making them if you don't care about reducing weight. You can just leave a little dowel on the body and drill a hole that allows hat to fit on rather than basically making a box like I did. Oh well!

The bodies are both ash. The dyed has was silver maple. The other hat was walnut. Both the hat balls and noses were red oak.
