What made this format work (for me) was this dude's fantastic attitude and sense of humor. 50 tips in a row from someone being dead serious would have felt like homework. Kudos for a fun format - I'd fish all day with a guy like that - seems like a ton of fun! Thank you for the tips.
Great video. Heading back to leech lake next weekend to try out some of these tips!
"Do you want ranch or ceasar?" 🤣 I'm definitely using that one!! Haha

Awsm man. Love helpfully happy videos.
Bro, This was a GREAT cast on jigging raps, i learned a few great tips and plan on using them when i get on Winnie in October, thanks for the tips on do and not to dos.
Learned a lot from your video (at least one of those Raps matched your shirt! #31 at 8:27) I've never jigged a Rapala from a boat as I am a new boat owner. Fishing a big, fast river confluence I see a lot of folks using them. I've got plenty in the gear box for ice fishing but may be to small for that application.
Thank you for a great informative lesson here, and a few LOL's I am subbed!
LOVED the video really helpful
Reel nice video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
That was a crazy good video!
Great video thanks!
Would love to see a video on rippin rap with 50 points👍

Great information!! Thanks 🐟
GREAT VIDEO BRETT, ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE AND WELL PRESENTED JIGGING RAP EXPLANATIONS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HAVE LEARNED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF INFORMATION FROM THIS VIDEO THAT YOU MADE, I GIVE IT A 10 OUT OF 10. I'M GOING TO FEEL A LOT BETTER NEXT TIME I GO OUT TO DO THIS TYPE OF FISHING AFTER WATCHING AND LEARNING WHAT YOU'VE HAVE SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO. THANK YOU !!!
Why are you yelling, Bill?
New to walleye fishing an this is the most complete guide to tips an technique ,thanks for your help an expertise.😊😊😊😊😊please be responsible an kill only what we need, fresh is best !
Love the jigging rap vids!
Thx dude!
I enjoyed the tips. Thanks.
The fishing dragon wraps for 7 years and it is my go-to bait I have it on at least 4 rods tied up at once! Colors do make a difference some days and definitely pitch away from the boat when you are in a clear lake or shallow when I'm talking shallow I mean less than 20 ft
Awesome video!!
Great video!
Awesome Video!! Out of all these tips The one big tip I would say you missed is the bottom hook! Change it out! I like the Mustad KVD, VMC and Gamakastu's anything with a slight inward bend and NOT to big so it doesn't wrap on its self. Now I want to go fishing.
Great video man I got a bunch of these lures NEVER had any luck really with them. My luck about to change.
Awesome video thanks brother
I gotta give that Thunder Rolls jiggin' stroke a try!
Bow bow bow! ⚡️
Nice job, keep up the great work. Tight lines
Thanks much! 👍
That face in the net bit had me rollin!
🤣
Love that man. I broke a few rods jig and rap. love your bobb
did I miss one of the most important tips?, watch out for flying missile jigging raps, eye protection is key, they can do some damage coming at you at high velocity
Oh my gosh! I've been singing where did you go for years but no one's known what I've been talking about! Thank you for that.
😂😂😂👊
Awesome Video, Thank you. I suppose I knew nothing about these babies till now, Pike like em too I've learned "picky Pike only".
You are the MAN
Wow. Great info 👌
This is perfect!
Might be one of the most money open water walleye videos out there. thanks man. curious on what you use to mount your livescope in the summer.
Great info, thanks
Thanks for checking it out, Jonny!
Ontario lake, deep with lake trout along with Walleyes, Smallies, Pike and Musky. I see fish on bottom in 45’ of water, surface temps at 80 F, I’m going back out with my jigging raps to see if I can snap one up, whatever it is!
Great video. Season opens May in NY
Thank you, Larry! Can't come soon enough.
I really enjoy your videos. Just an upbeat guy seems like your truly enjoying being out
Thank YOU!
EXCELLANT !!!
Thank you!!!
Great tips. Love you energy and personality! Let me know if you get to pool 8 on the Mississippi!
Good tips, but I do tip ice fishing with a tiny centre cute minnow piece…. Walleyes, perch, brook trout, crappie, lake trout, all smoke them. But I like small sizes in winter, w2, w3, and w5.
So I bought my first jigging rap yesterday, a 5/8th Pearl White to use on the Ohio River. Not sure if white bass/sauger/hybrid bass will eat these but they do like blade baits. I am fairly confident I will lose my $7 bait in the first 15 minutes on all the junk at the bottom of the river, I am planning on cutting the front hook off the bait to see if that helps. It's sorta odd that walleye are one of my favorite fish besides smallmouth considering we don't have many around here. I think I am going to drag my boat to Minnesota next year. Thank you for the tips..will be subscribing in 3..2...1....now
Can't wait to get effective with the j rap. Big on pulling spinners. Gotta practice I guess
For sure just takes that one confidence-boosting day!
great vid for me ( newbie) have alot to learn here in arkansas very clear DEEP water
Thx!
Great video man, I dont have a lot of luck with jigging raps. I know its a technique thing. Makes me want to get on the water.
Thx Casey! Defintiely takes some time on the water to get the hang of it all, but when it "clicks" it's an addicting bite. 👊
Dude I enjoyed that
Glad to hear it! 👊
Great vid.!!!!!!!!!!
Pumped you liked it! 👊
These tips are money.
Livescope and jigging rap video..... yes..... make it happen
Solid
Very informative video. I have a hand full of jigging raps. Still working on getting them out but that's besides the point. I've never had much confidence in them due to lack of experience. My question is should I start vertically or cast and retrieve to gain confidence. Thanks
Not a bad idea to play around with it vertical first to get a better feel for the jigging cadence and timing of when the bait hits the bottom and when to snap again. Then start doing short 20-30' pitches away from the boat.
I throw them on 15# floro on casting gear. My bass squarebill setup. Nothing more fun than livescoping them with j raps.
REALLY GREAT VIDEO!!! I may have missed it but are you always letting it return to bottom?
Yes I would say 97% of the time in openwater I'm letting it hit bottom. Only exception for me is if there's junk weed that's constantly fouling the bait. But then I usually get frustrated and switch spots to something cleaner lol.
Would like to see the Live Scope for Walleyes. Thanks Mike
There will be a lot of that this spring!
Awesome video!!
When you change out the treble hook for a bladed one, if you can’t match the size do you go 1 size up or down??
I try to keep it as close to the stock size as possible. If I have to adjust it I will bump up just slightly. I know some guys sweat by going with a bigger treble but the problem I have is the bait will foul more often then.
the way they snag on rocky reefs you need hundreds of them
Enjoy the videos, I have been looking for local anglers here in MN sharing techniques and videos. New to walleye fishing they are often an incidental catch for me. Avid Catfish, Crappie and Smallmouth fisherman. I own a few jigging wraps and plan to buy more and apply what I have learned ice fishing. I will also will try drop-shot fishing for Walleyes too. Any thoughts on that technique would be appreciated. Wonderful work, thanks for your dedication, sharing of the sport. Cheers.
Awesome and thank you, man!
Dropshots work amazing for walleyes! In the fall we love running small sucker minnows on them. And all summer long a dropshot with a nightcrawler catches walleyes when nothing else will.
I did a really quick video on that and I’ll drop the link below in case:
ua-cam.com/video/xmFnQnzZZ2Y/v-deo.html
@@TargetWalleye thanks I’ll watch the vid. I will get into Jigging Raps and perhaps “wrap” my mind around other awesome things beyond typos. Cheers. 👍🏻😁
You need a beer sponsor
if most fish you're hooking are snagged outside the mouth or in the belly on a particular day, switch to a jigging spoon of similar weight and jig it the same way as the balance jig. you will hook every fish in the mouth with the spoon.
Great video! Do you always cut off the front hook for these when Ice Fishing? Also, when adding the VMC bladed hook do you add it to the back hook or only the front hook??
I really don't nip it off all that often. Usually when I do, it's if there's a ton of ice because it's harder to play the angle to get fish turned up. I always add the VMC Bladed Hybrid Treble to the front or middle of cranks - put it where you want the fish to target and hit. Noticed if I'm running it on the far back is when I'll get short strikers as they are nipping at the blade. Jigging Raps I put it right on the treble in the middle.
Please do make a livescope jigging rap video, please
How about floating raps with a sinker?
Especially for ice fishing but what micro swivel do you use so you avoid line twist? Thanks!
I use the smallest 2 sizes in the VMC RS Rolling Swivel thru the ice. They aren't as free spinning as the ball-bearing swivels, but they tangle up less. And I love that they are basically microscopic thru the ice.
It’s been working since June! Need to wear eye protection! Fish come unpinned all the time at the surface!
Have only caught 1 one eye on Whitefish chain with a JR. Not sure why, but I think that I scare the fish away with it.
On the right day, they love it on the Whitefish Chain! Edges of humps in 24-30'. Just make sure you're getting the Jigging Rap out away from the boat a bit.
So do you cut the nose hook off or not
the best tips are intuitive to the day, I’ll try some tidbits of attraction the fishing pressure on walleye here is just unbelievable with a 8 fish 12” to 22” slot .please let’s have a lower limit to start.an stop the net surveys reducing the number of mature spawner from here.change the thinking that every walleye should hit the table as a bass tournament angler most my life don’t let them use the fish for personal gain show priority for a new level of support and action for sustaining is not good enough only better is acceptable for the future of fishing no matter what fish 🐠
Best all around rod for jigging raps?
Rod type what kind?
Do you have any video catching largemouth bass in January, February & early March pre spawn??
Our bass season closes in Feburuary and we can't target them again until the middle of May. But we do catch them (on purpose) thru the ice here for the next month or so on little rattlebaits, Jigging Raps and small tungsten. It's a fun way to switch things up from walleyes and panfish.
is it worth it to buy a jigging rap a rippin rap and a slab rap or just one if so what one
You stated Helsinki Shad color for winter eyes, is that in a #5 or a #7?
Both. I'd say I probably use #5s the majority of the time thru the ice, but the #7s work great early-ice while oxygen levels are at their highest.
Do you fish them the same way in an upland reservoir that don't have much cover
Overall I fish them the same way, it's just a slightly different approach.... We have a few lakes and areas around here that don't have a ton of cover/structure and the fish are relating to forage versus being on a "spot on the spot." That's when it's especially important to spend more time scanning with your electronics than actually fishing. Don't fish until you're graphing fish whether that's on Side Imaging, traditional 2D or DI, or even Live sonar. If I make a handful of casts on the fish with no bites, I'll will spin around to scan again and reposition on them and try again. If still a no-go, it's time to keep moving and looking for more active fish. I remember the moment when that all clicked for me...where you mark a fish, cast right at it, and BOOM it's on. The confidence boost is insane an gives you that push to run a bunch of spots and make things happen when they maybe wouldn't have squatting on a spot/area/fish that weren't "the deal" that day. Thx much for watching!
Definitely a nugget.
If you add a blade or feathers to middle treble hook, does it interfere with fish biting?
No, there are some days you'll even get more bites doing it, but I haven't really noticed a day where you get less yet. 👊 Sneaky.
