GREAT VIDEO Brett!!! All the details you laid out in this vid have made it super easy to understand and actually go out and get the Walleye's in the weeds in the middle of. Summer or for most of the year as the gentleman you had with you explained he seemed like a really good fisherman and teacher like yourself. I have seen some other videos from different people similar to this in the past but you really put it all together, simplified it, and that tungsten weight trick wow!!! I've been really wanting to know how to do this correctly for a while now & I feel very confident about it now after watching your video. Thanks man! also very enjoyable 👍
Enjoy your channel the best of them all Easy to watch learn and share a few laughs You keep it real and simple Target Walleye is great Vs the other walleye channels…. In D……. They as I call are the Mutual Administration fisherman channel “watch what we reel and catch. And share very little Jus sayin …. Thanks for your great channel
I fish these behind bottom bouncers a lot, but we call it the slow death rig. Notice even in this video how easily the fish come off those hooks. The barbs are quite small (all brands), which probably has something to do with the spin. But the down side is they come out easier than might be used to. Great technique. Just have to be mindful of that.
Great vid and great tips! I have a question for you. What would you recommend for fishing under a dam/spillway where they hang around under that rushing water? Thanks!
Any idea about how deep it is? Usually can’t go wrong with some kind of jig and paddletail. You’re going to lose a bunch of them in the rocks, but they always catch fish. Depending on how deep it roughly is, I also like throwing Husky Jerks or Shad Raps.
@@TargetWalleye Thanks for the info! The depths can be anywhere from 3 feet to 15 feet. It’s down here in Iowa and it’s those typical dams the CCC built during the New Deal in the 30’s on the rivers. Just about every town/city on a river has one and the Walleye love hanging out under there.
Thx Tony! That's made by a company called FIN GEAR. Their Live Scan Pole Mount is SUPER beefy. I've really been liking it so far! www.fingear.com/collections/featured-products/products/fin-gear-live-scan-pole-mount
Yes it's actually suspended in the water column and sliding thru the weeds. I try to get below the little bluegills, but still keep it up of bottom and above the walleye's heads.
Thanks! The bullet weights are designed to slide right thru the weeds, so they work GREAT for running rigs up shallow like this. Can absolutely run the same rig on a bottom-bouncer if it's a rocky/hard bottom, or if you're running this rig on the bottom edge of the weeds where they taper off.
@@ol2533 you got it! Bullet-style weights work great in the weeds, but are more likely to snag up in ricks because they can fall right thru into cracks and crevices. Bottom-bouncers have that long wire that keeps does a better job of keeping the presentation up and out of the snags...but they snag way more weeds and junk. Good luck!
Brett, I've been loving this technique but always end up with my tungsten wrapping around my braid into a mess above the bead and swivel. The spindrift has a swivel so I don't think it's line twist, but I can't understand why it keeps doing it. Any suggestions to remedy?
Oh you’ll snag some weeds, but it comes thru better than you’d think. And the 832 braid mainline cuts ‘em pretty good - if you feel the rod tip start to load up you can usually pop it out. I’m not pulling this through super thick weed mats or clingy junk, but instead big broad leaf cabbage and coontail mixes. You gotta go in and get ‘em where they live!
Our state has a 8 walleye limit per angler, with increased Covid spraying an killing grass is destroying our fishing day ,a pull on the line equals a smile on a child nice vid .average fisherman don’t have every advantage ,but binoculars make all men equal no secrets anymore
It varies a bit, but typically mid-depth thru the weeds. I would do a slight S-troll at 1mph instead of trolling in a straight line...that's the easiest way to figure out if they want it slower and lower in the water column, or slightly faster and higher up.
Really any of the three sizes will work, but the #1 is a good all-around size for a half a crawler. I like buying the hooks separately so I can customize things if I do want to run a spinner.
@@john4314 Nope. I have ten year olds at the local Izaak Walton fishing derby that handle fish better than the guy clamping down on the walleye with both hands. So you get over yourself.
I appreciate the comment, but your delivery was rather aggressive 🙄. I agree that fish was out of the water much longer than it needed to be…was approximately 1 minute total which definitely feels like 27 minutes while watching the video. But it did power off without a hitch. And in Jason’s defense he was planning on keeping a couple smaller ones that day, pretty sure that one included, but I probably caught him off guard when I said I wasn’t keeping any cuz no one lets 14-18” walleyes go around here 😂. Thanks for watching and providing feedback.
Thanks for the feedback! The fish may have been out for a sec to long but she swam off like a champ! Normally I like throwing one or two of those in the box and taking them for a boat ride back to the ramp!
7:18 Lol… thanks for not editing that out. Cool technique will have to try it
Hahahaha I almost, almost, got my mouth rinsed out with soap after that flop 😂
*When it comes to summertime Walters, it's tough to beat simple AND effective* 💪
the best vid for walleye tricks.
great guys
You make some great videos. Great camera personality and knowledgeable.
walleye, bass, striper, it's all good! Thanks for the tips

👊 Thanks Bill and good luck you're next time out!!!
1 mile an hour Kinda crazy how much water you can cover at that speed 😂 yeah like 1 mi,e an hour. Love the vid
Lol right?! 😂👊
lol thats what i said out loud after he said that
A plastic crawler on a double hook harness works well in the weeds too and gives it that spin. Gotta rig it so it has a bend in it to get it to spin.
Thanks!!!! Been throwing a mixed bag on low lately. Cranks, spinners, and can still get bit on the ole jig and minnow.
Such a magical place.
It really is. Last week we had a 70 fish day with at least 15 of them being big slots. Biggest fish was a fat 28.5in
I hook those swivels to worm hooks for bass... I never new that they made them. Lol

Could you in your free time make a video abut how you organize your tackle jigs, cranks etc
👍
We always had a saying when Sauger Fishing Lake City. Need to be at the Lake City …DQ ….at 12 or clock
They always bit then
Good stuff Brett 😎
Awesome content 👍
How deep you figure the baits running with the 1/2 oz weight?
Did you try Erie dearie rig for walleye. It's working. Good luck

Are u letting the bullet weight drag off bottom
Yes it's actually suspended in the water column and sliding thru the weeds. I try to get below the little bluegills, but still keep it up of bottom and above the walleye's heads.
Great video! Any reason not to use a bottom bouncer rig/weight vs just the bullet sinker, bead and barrel swivel that you used?

Thanks What size spindrift hook?
The #1 is a good all-around size for a half of a crawler.
Would this technique work from the shore in like 10 feet of water?
