    Well explained. On float rigging is very important to have braid as main line, because is floats. Mono will sink slowly, hard to get a hookset.

    Spinner rigs work great to get a bite but I rarely get bigger fish. I tend to get the bigger bites on jigs and jiggin raps so I will switch to those when I find them. I have gotten some bigger ones on cranks as well.

    Great vid! I fish on Lake of the Woods (near Kenora, Ont). Mid summer I primarily use 3/8 jig with hand tied single hook trailer with nightcrawler and jigging raps. I have also been switching it up with a drop shot/crawler at times.

      @@NickLindnerdo a beard and whole face if you do. I thought the ones with just a mustache looked odd, like something out of a movie where Bruce Willis glues on a mustache and he’s a hit man! I thought it was out of place but a beard with it would probably be more natural, but, hey, just how it strikes me.
      Great tips on the set ups.
      I’m just getting back into fishing the last 9 weekends after 10-12 years, and I’ve had the most results on my Mitchell rod and spinning-reel; using 20 lb braided with 10lb fluorocarbon lead about 18” long and a 10 gram slip bobber with a 1/16oz bullet weight with a bead below the weight to protect my knot and one above the bobber, but I found the larger beads work better and tend to get stuck less than the small ones that typically come with the bobber stop kits!
      I tried live night crawlers on a 1/0 circle hook, and has worked well at catch big bass cat fish and Sunfish. It even works well if you’re trying to catch Blue Gills for fishing catfish!
      I started using the Snell knot, and it has done well for strength and how the bait is presented, especially live Minnows! If you’re fishing bottom, and leave the 18” leader, the minnows can swim about; I keep the same set up minus the slip bobber and let the minnow drag the small bullet weight around!

    • @NickLindner
      @NickLindner  3 роки тому

      I like to use ball bearing swivels whenever I can. In that case, I'll go with the smallest size I can get my hands on, usually either size 0 or size 1. Otherwise, a size 8 in a normal swivel is my go-to. I've been using the SPRO Power Swivels lately.

    Is it common for someone to rip blade baits? I got hooked(no pun intended) on walleye fishing when I went to Minnesota a month or so ago. Do you rip baits vertically when you fish? There doesn't seem to be much walleye here in Oklahoma but I still gotta give it a shot.

    • @NickLindner
      @NickLindner  3 роки тому

      It's not super common to fish blade baits, but that not because they don't work. It's an oldie-but-goodie that never should have went out of style in my opinion!

    • @NickLindner

    • @NickLindner
      @NickLindner  3 місяці тому

      It would be fishing the same type of areas. Early in the year like this, it's fishing flats like the one in the video, making a lot more casts, covering water. Later in the year, it's fishing specific structure (points, inside corners, sharp breaks) or just fishing cover (deep rock piles or weed lines). The cool thing is you can still learn from watching videos with guys using high-end technology. Understanding how fish layout on certain types of spots, etc

      Could be walleye. Maybe they are cisco or whitefish. I'd try casting a slow sinking jerkbait to them simply because jerkbaits are one of my favorite ways (not always the most productive but can be) to catch walleye and when they want it they will try rip the rod right out of your hand.
