In this video I go over the proper way to jig for walleyes. Jigging is probably the most common way to catch a walleye and in this video I will go over some of the finer points of both casting and vertically fishing for walleyes. You can use a jig to fish for walleyes any time of year with nearly any live bait options. Much of the walleye fishing I do is done with a jig and in this video I talk about the common mistakes in which I see.

As a beginner so late in life (50) and researching how to fish to help my son fall in love with a sport not available to me at his age is exhausting. Your advice in one video has been terrifically simple to understand. Understanding what is happening under the water by properly working your jig was eye opening. Definitely won over a subscriber who wants to pass on the experience to my son.

Nice video Tom. Now here is my tip to you and everyone else. It always seems like some one in the Boat will have the hot rod when Jig fishing and out catching other people in the boat. If this is happening to me it's time for a Beer or Coffee and watch the person who is catching the most fish see what color they are using and how they are rigging there bait and how they are working there Rod this is very important. I have seen where dragging a jig where it will out catch a jig hopping it, but this is usually when the water is cold I'm talking 33-38F they just will not chase a bait very far. But every day is unto itself, and remember sometimes watching someone can teach you a lot. TC

Huge fan of the Piscifun reels.
Got my first CarbonX 1000 a year ago and , picked up two more soon after.
The 1000 is the smallest size, works great for jigging walleye and is also a fantastic panfish reel.
will also be picking up a couple size 2000 to replace a couple rigging/trolling reels (pfluegers), ( or likely just buy more rods for new reels, don't tell my wife, can never have too many combos )
    Tight Lines.
    Huge Piscifun Endorsement.
They are exactly as you describe.
The Carbon X compares to the Diawa Tatula, or the Okuma Helios only just over a 1/4 the price.
I honestly believe the Piscifun reels are better.

Great video, I'm from wyoming and live 50 miles away from 4 different lakes all have walleye. I'm new to walleye fishing. I've always been a trout guy but I'm trying to catch some new species. Very helpful info for boat fishing. I also just got a new to me boat so this is some great info. I'm really interested in the real I hope to be the lucky one that wins it. I've never won anything. It'd be awesome. Seminoe reservoir is my favorite lake to fish here in the windy state. State record walleye I'm told. Thanks once again and happy fishing.

Tom"s tips and tactics are always sound advice, i'm confident any recommended real would be of the highest quality and would love to try one out before hardwater seasom.

I actually have a piscifun flame 2000. I bought their baitcaster last year and really liked it so i decided to try a spinning reel. I think they're a great affordable reel. I definitely don't feel like i'm losing out an any quality with paying less than I would for some of the more popular brands. I'd love to give XT a shot! Keep up the awesome vids, thanks!

Pre spawn, around here, the drag method works. I was shore fishing, with guys all around me, and they were whipping the jig up like you, not catching a damn thing. I dragged mine and had my limit in 2 hours. I wouldn't totally eliminate the drag method. When the walleye are about to spawn or post spawn, they ain't chasing much but will strike a slower presentation.

Just throws the walleye back in without even care in the world. I've lived in Minnesota for 20 years and have yet to catch a dang walleye or even be with someone who has ;/. At this point, I'm hoping I can get a walleye before the Vikings win a superbowl.

Bought a Piscifun Carbon X200 reel this summer, and it is worth every penny and more. Caught a tank of a bass with it and the drag was silky smooth.

Subscribed to Piscifun. I’m subscribed to you but my wife just said she thinks you’re hot...might have to rethink that. haha. Put me in for the giveaway
