Dozens of residents in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv waited for hours in front of a McDonald's as it reopened on September 20, 2022, for the first time in more than six months. The fast-food chain closed after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The American company reopened three branches in the capital, allowing delivery services. It plans to gradually reopen in parts of the country over the coming weeks and to allow dine-in services.

What a strange day that McDonald's reopening becomes associated with pure happiness and a sense of normalcy.
It can happen with any business
Even a local one
That's how the US brainwashed people
I know right? Oh how terrible, the guy’s been waiting not for the war to end, but for freaking McD’s to reopen. This is today’s youth.
Same thing happened in Soviet Russia, people queued for days at that McDonalds joint
@@dannyzero692 food is food, doesn't matter the country of origin
It's strange. As much as I despise corporations like McDonald's for all the evil that they do, I can totally understand the sentiment of this young man. There is something heartwarming about a McD's meal. What a strange moment captured in time. I hope things improve for Ukrainians (and for people in other war-torn countries)
Fries in McDonald's are basically crackdonald's. 😂
Evil they do? Have you ever lived in the medieval age?
But yes sure McDonald is evil.
Macdonalds in many countries are the last resort for homeless people to spend a night and have some free food.
It's called marketing
“for all the evil that they do” refuses to elaborate
As a Ukrainian, I can explain the sentiment. We already had functioning deliveries and open local food chains/cafes/restaurants. But McDonald's refused to open because of safety concerns. Now that it slowly does open, it feels like things are slowly becoming better.
Also, somehow their cocoa is the best lol
May you get fat and happy from eating McDonald. :)
@@nightslasher9384 is your life so miserable that you felt the need to write something like this?
@@frocwin he's right though that's all mcdonalds does, get you fat
@@Springz55
Yes, food can indeed make you fat. Don't eat 4 Big Macs a day and you'll be fine.
Btw, i was fascinated about the sauce dipped into their chips in that video tho, is that the nugget sauce or ketchup?
Amazing how a restaurant can make peoples lives better and bring others together in a time of devastation
What a strange advertisement strategy 🤣
Ukraine ia a poor country.
Well. Why did they have to close then. They could have brought more happiness if they had stayed open in Ukraine.
I can tell how many delivery drivers were there at McDonald's, the Ukrainians literally missed the fast food restaurant.
There is something comforting about a McDonalds. Happy that a little bit of normalcy is returning to Ukraine.
This is going to be a big boost to the Ukraine people and army
Not really. They are still eating a potato a day raw
Right. Once the army hears about the re-opening of McDonald's they'll fight twice as hard.
lol
bruh 💀💀
@@oogie493 It lifts their spirits up a bit I guess.
A great morale booster for the country.
A suprise indeed.Hope things get much better in the upcoming days.
The Russians were just looking for a working ice cream machine
Макдональдс для нас будет хорошим бонусом к победе, товарищи) как завещал товарищ Сталин - ни шагу назад!
In Russia I have never encountered non-working ice cream machine. Was very confused when i found out that in us its common problem, and even interactive maps with marked restaurants currently serving ice cream exists.
Sign of Happy and Prosperous Ukraine. More investments, more jobs coming to Ukraine.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When McDonald's comes back to my city I will cry. I just want a normal life
Things that you may didnt know, Macdonalds continue to pay their employees even not in operation.
Struggle makes you appreciate the little things in life, war can make McDonalds cheap burgers which are usually guilty pleasure feel gourmet. Hope peace returns to Ukraine soon!
McDonalds is a big sign of things going back to normal or going forward.
Eventho i hate the food and the corporation, I have to admit McDonalds is probably "THE" Corporation that signals tides of change.
The very first corpo that opened after Soviet Collapse was McDonalds and it was a sign of new times where Russia can collaborate with rest of the World.
Now Ukraine & McDonalds show the world that despise Russian Insanity and Cruelty Life will be be going back to Normal, and Ukraine will move forward towards better times!
With all that being That being said McDonalds is not cheap. It stopped being Cheap Food Joint like 5-10 years ago. I wonder how they handle prices in Ukraine given the current situation.
@@fmspjanus Soon, part of the republics of Ukraine will be annexed to Russia according to the results of referendums. Russia will try to say that now this is its territory, and it would be better if you did not attack. If Ukraine refuses this, the war will continue, and on an even larger scale. So yes, there is a chance that the conflict will be settled soon. However, it is very small, because the West will stubbornly stand on its own and under its pressure Ukraine will now attack Russian territories.
@@fmspjanus *Putin insanity. Many Russians are very much against him. Can't own guns, hard to resist.

Exactly, McDonald’s does it for money
As a last year’s Glovo courier myself I am happy for my ex-colleagues who are now back to work. Don’t crowd, people, be nice to each other.

Mcdonald's marketing is clever, they put playground on the store for kids to play while eating their food. Therefore when they're adults they still associate the same happy feeling when they eat at Mcdonald's.
This is really smart bro I never thought of that
mcdonalds patties are so small you can't even tell if you're eating meat or lettuce.

Apart from mcd being reasonably priced and very convenient it's also gives (or returns?) workplaces for staff and couriers. And for majority of people it's also a sign of freedom as first restaurants opened after ussr collapse. Also it's a sign for other international businesses. There are not much things happening in Kyiv now...
I hope they have been paying all their employees while they have been closed
They were because they know this is a very unusual and very unfortunate situation. They also decided that despite pulling out of Russia in protest of the war. That they would give their former Russian employees enough money for a few months so they can stay afloat while looking for a new job. Or just switch over to the Russian knockoff of McDonald's. I think the deal was about 6 months worth of their paycheck from the time they closed all their Russian restaurants.
