State media in mainland China has accused Taiwanese President William Lai Ching-te of provoking confrontation and “blatantly promoting Taiwan independence” in his inauguration speech. Communist Party mouthpiece People’s Daily and military outlet PLA Daily each devoted an entire page on May 21, 2024, to responses and criticism from various mainland officials to the speech Lai delivered the previous day.

I’ve talked to a guy who served in the Taiwanese military, and guess what, I had to reteach him how to shoot cuz the military didn’t teach him properly. According to him, most equipments and gears in the Taiwanese military are outdated, badly maintained, and most soldiers are minimally trained.

Taiwan does still operate M60 tanks, so I'm not really surprised most of their gear is outdated. Same with training due to them cutting back training down to I believe four months max with conscription back in 2013, until Dec 2022, where it was changed to a year of conscription

Stop claiming historical mumbo jumbo about how Taiwan used to be part of mainland China because it wasn't. It was never part of the Ming or Qing Dynasty during the early 17th century when the Dutch discovered it in 1624. It was briefly colonized by Japan in 1895 and till the end of WW2, and then the Chinese National Forces of Chiang Kai-shek tried to claim it as their own. The US never recognized that. Even Mao Zedong and Chiang said that they fully supported Taiwan's independence at the time. This narrative changed during the Cairo Conference in 1943 when Chiang said that Taiwan should be returned to China. No. No it shouldn't. Despite a history of interference from both the Japanese forces, the Kuomintang Party, and the CCP, there is zero evidence of China having any historical or ancestral sovereignty over the island. Taiwan is now an entirely independent Democratic nation with its own culture, identity, and history, led by the Democratic Progressive Party.

Only my ancestors, the Ancient Greeks had TRUE democracy. USA has a flavour of Democracy. The People's Republic of China (aka PRC Mainland China) has another flavour of Democracy. The Republic of China (aka ROC Taiwan) has, yet, another flavour of Democracy.
Out of the three countries, Corporate USA has the WORST Democracy because they have a two tier system. The system only allows a choice of TWO potential POTUS's. Tier 1 is the popular vote (the real Democracy) BUT Tier 2 over-rides Tier 1. Tier 2 is the Corporate Electoral College Votes where Corporations in USA determine who will be POTUS. This is why you get many situations in USA where the POTUS did NOT get the majority People's vote.
In PRC China have a Meritocracy. To be President you must have: (1) High level of Eduction; (2) Proven positive successful outcomes at local, state, and National level of politics. Then you get into a pool of SEVEN (not 2 as in USA) potential Presidents. Then the NPC (National People’s Congress) of 2,977 members representing all cities and towns around China, vote for the President of China.

They over-ride the People's Popular vote. That's why Trump lost to Hillary Clinton in 2016 by 8,000 votes, but still become POTUS ... same thing happened to Al Gore in 2000 who won the People's votes but the Corporate Electoral College Votes put in George W. Bush as POTUS (who ended up being the biggest War Criminal in the 21st Century).
PRC never had control over Taiwan, they don't have the right to consider it a rebellious province. The status quo is that of peace, it would be so easy to maintain if the PRC would just give up on its claim. This would not set a precedent for other regions such as Xinjiang or Tibet, because they do belong to the PRC.
