Just give them those tiny islands and call it a day. They are very clearly in DPRK's water not ROK's. It has to be an absolute waste of resources to constantly keep them defended anyway.
Why is nobody concerned with a combined action by China and NK? Meaning that North Korea could start a limited strike on South Korea to keep the US busy, while shortly thereafter, China goes after Taiwan. From a Chinese perspective, this might be the most promising strategy, as a war between North Korea and the US/South Korea would not directly mean war with China and none of the western allies would be willing to fully invade North Korea. They would simply be busy trying to re-establish the old border.
"What if China starts WWIII" - I fail to see how this would work well especially when the US' supply/training centers around being able to fight two large scale wars at the same time. The biggest issue is how would China stop a US-China war from going nuclear and ending it a mass exchange of nuclear bombs.
@@David-kd4qr You fail to see that because you are unaware of the fact that China is the world supply chain now. Their industrial prowess dwarfs combined Western world + Russia several hundred times and their population outnumbers the West 1:3 ratio. USA knows that a direct full scale war against China will always end up in defeat of the West, that's why it is longing for regional allies to take the blunt of the war in place of Western world directly. It is also true that once taking heavy losses the USA will go nuclear to save itself. In such a scenario, China will either try to shoot down as much nukes it can and retaliate heavily with its hypersonic nuclear arsenal to end the USA quickly and hope to survive a portion of their civilization or choose to halt the war immediately and calls for a ceasefire at the current war position, defining the new borders. China will most likely choose the latter rather than a nuclear exchange.

I promise you that DPRK does NOT want a conflict, just like the People's Republic does NOT want a conflict in the Yellow Sea. It's literally a divide & conquer tactic to divide the same ethnicities, and convince that their nationalities is an ethnicity, when it's not (there's no such thing as an "Ethnic Taiwanese", that's a nationality), same in Ukraine, the people were together for hundreds of years, except for a minority of Eastern Poland that became W. Ukraine in 1939, and they committed the Galicia / Volyn Purge of 100k+ Poles & 10k+ Gypsies. Now that minority group took over the office of power and their Rada.
Looking at the border line of those islands and doesn't look fair at all...That might be the reason why he is angry...
I’m actually surprised no one body else seem to have noticed this…
indeed its not fair, but that's waht you get from wars..winner takes it all.
Well finally someone who noticed.
His anger seems justified (in this case)
You've got to wonder what all his generals medals are for, given that they haven't been in a hot war for 70 years

They are allowed to wear family medals going back to the Korean War

Nice dramatic music.

Um.....hey there DW, the NLL was drawn "later" as in 1953. The 'Kim dynasty" has ALWAYS claimed that South Korea is their principal enemy -- thus the 10,000 artillery pieces pointed at it since before you were born. Why did you select Bob Carlin and Jenny Town as spokespersons to reinforce this message? Of the 6000 North Korea experts you could have called, why did you pick those two? Care to tell your viewers what the Stimson Center is? And more importantly, when your editor asked you "what's new in this story" all you had to say was "nothing, we're just going to bash North Korea and get some clicks." Right? That's how it went, right? So the Tumangong rail station, built between 2008 and finished in 2012 has more rail cars on it now? Who could POSSIBLY have seen that coming? Thank GOD we have the Center for International Studies to tell us these things. Care to tell us who those tw*ts are? There is LITERALLY zero news in this segment, but your Florence Pugh chainsmoking voice will continue to serve you well kid.
Have been chatting on AI apps all weekend, hoping for any sign of inteIIigence, then read your post just now and spewed coffee out my nose on 'Florence Pugh'. Thank G-d! Now I have a new fetish besides Tony Blinken, faded rock guitarist.
That analysis leaves out that NK would be toasted in any nuclear exchange and most of their weapons are horribly obsolete, have questionable functionality, and a high failure rate. Grandstanding is how he stays in power, war is how he dies.
Yea, let's risk an exchange of nukes, even though you really have nothing to back those claims up. Western intelligence to this day really doesn't have a lot of information about the DPRK at all.
Are you suddenly an expert on North Korean nuclear weapons? Interesting, you should work for the CIA ;)
4:20 they forgot to say how US wiped out northern penninsula with its bombs...
Ok, what's wrong with that?
True
With the backing of the UN...which means that it wasn't just the US, duh.
They skipped over a lot for brevity. I find it interesting that you would object to them omitting a mention of the US bombing of North Korea during the war but you are perfectly fine with them not mentioning the many horrific ways that the North Korean regime has abused and killed its own people in the decades since.
i find it interesting how your terrific periodic knowledge makes you describe a whole event between NK and SK, sealed in distorted and childish assumptions about West, North and South.

Yes. They are dictators.
You stopped all the root of trade.
All of their resources spends on developing weapon. They are prepared for war from long ago.
WTF are you saying? Unintelligible. "Prepared for war from long ago" so like what, 1847 or something? What does "all root of trade" even mean? Like root of a tree? Route as in ways or mechanisms to trade? Use Google translate.

oh yes North Korea is a dystopian radical Communist state because they are sanctioned.. just say "US bad". westerners cannot understand the illiberal mind.
It's almost as if he feels left out, because his buddy Putin is at war with Ukraine and the Gaza/Israel conflict is still hot in the news!
Does Kim ever stop to think that he might actually have relatives living in South Korea???
Really? He doesn't care about his relatives. He killed his own brother just to be the top dog of NK.
What kind of map (13:00) gives Crimea to Russia (which no one recognizes), and cuts the eastern most part of Siberia from Russia (which everyone recognizes as part of Russia)?
I'd say its more defensive posture, they don't have food to feed their army and require humanitarian aid to avoid starvation. China and Russia won't save them from that.
NATO should go after them. If they send troops in. Go with allies in their own peninsula. Rid him of war abilities

This is exactly why China has kept North Korea around.
It has its uses in the long run.
"What if China starts WWIII" - I fail to see how this would work well especially when the US' supply/training centers around being able to fight two large scale wars at the same time. The biggest issue is how would China stop a US-China war from going nuclear and ending it a mass exchange of nuclear bombs.
@@David-kd4qr
You fail to see that because you are unaware of the fact that China is the world supply chain now.
Nice one 👍 ❤❤❤
When I was on active duty 11 years ago nothing will change
I have seen a big bad habit of western countries they always use wrong map of India and whenever Indians protest it they say it is real but they don't show real picture while making map of Ukraine.

Perhaps the leaders but almost all the people just want to peacefully live their lives.
For anyone to continue to spend time and resources on nuclear weapons is foolish as they no longer have any meaning relevance.
Bye bye little Rocketman.

@@snuffeldjuret the nation is strange only when considering how peace time nations are in comparison, while ignoring that the DPRK is a nation that is fully militarized.
