- APPLE HOT CROSS BUNS
INGREDIENTS:
CARAMELISED APPLES
* 1 tbsp of butter
* 2 Eating Apples peeled and diced to 1 cm pieces
* 50g of Light soft brown sugar
* 1 pinch of Cinnamon
BUN DOUGH
* 180g of whole milk
* 75g of butter (unsalted or salted)
* 12/14g packet Yeast (usually two packets)
* 50g of warm water
* 450g Strong Bread Flour
* 100g of light brown sugar
* 1/2 tsp Salt
* 1 pinch of mixed spice
* 1 large pinch of Ground Cinnamon
* 1 Large Egg
CROSSES
* 100g of White flour
* 50g of water

They were a bit of a sticky challenge but please give them a try and don’t worry about the white cross bit because they make great apple spiced buns for any time of year.

Ooh a version of a hot cross bun my daughter might like. (She doesn’t like dried fruit) I’ll give it a whirl though I’ve never been very successful with bread 😂
It seems tricky because the dough is so very sticky and wet but don’t panic and you will be very surprised.
