- The BEST Modification To a Porsche EVER!?THE BEST MODIFICATION TO A PORSCHE EVER!? Often you look at what people do and agree, think its cool, think its a great idea! but as often you may disagree and think its ridiculous! in this video we show you guys our first modification to our new Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, I have seen a few modifications similar across other car UA-cam channels in Seen Through Glass, Daily Driven Exotics and also Jon Olsen vlogs, adding a roof box to a sports car is something which so many people won't want mw to do... but thats cool. I big message on this channel is to do what YOU want to do and don't let other peoples opinion bother you. what is the best Porsche? the Porsche 911? the Porsche 718? Porsche Panamera? Porsche Macan or Porsche Cayenne? for me... its ours!

It’s practical !!and you can use a Porsche every day 👍👍many moons ago when I used to cycle a lot I fixed my golf trolly to the back of my bike and cycled to my golf club .have Fun James
I've got to be honest and say I don't think it looks cool at all. What I love about it and what I think is cool, is that you have got a 'car of your dreams' type of car that is completely impractical for taking out your mates and golf clubs, and made it practical. You now have the best of both worlds - love that!
This shouldn’t work but it bloody does!! Love how you’ve made a 2 seater sports car into ultimately daily driver! It definitely stands out form the crowd.... get it ceramic coated now... no stone chop heart attacks then 🤣🤣

Very interesting. Plus, easy to remove when not needed. Trimming the length of the support poles that stick out on each side may make it look sleeker but not sure if that is possible. Anyway, enjoy the future adventures.
It will be very interesting to keep up to date with the roof rack fixings.
No way those suction cups are legal..I would be so stressed to drive around with that liability on my roof. I hope I’m wrong James..

Car looks fab with the roof box on. Word of warning,I have seen a roof box explode on the the roof of an X5 on the Peage in France. Geezer was doing about 110mph like. 👍🤣

That roof box looks fabulous. Many years ago I drove across Canada in a mint 1968 Camaro SS with the most horrendous looking roof box you can imagine. Ugly as it was, it was so practical I was glad to have it. The pictures remind me of what a great trip that was.
Love the car and love the idea! The slimline one would have looked mint! Why not drive such an awesome car and be able to drive around playing golf with your mate or to go away with Laura. Beats driving around in a wagon or something. I’m all for it! Enjoy and can’t wait to see the new series.

I don't see too many sports cars where I live with roof boxes. In fact not too many in the states. Have seen them used on different you tube channels but all over seas. Too be honest I didn't know how it would be, but seeing it it does look cool.

I think you get the best of both worlds. A great sports car that you can still take on a trip. and get utility use out of it. The black and blue combination looks good, and the shape of the box is the same as the roof of the Porsche. As long as it doesn't damage the roof, I think it's awesome.
Can you fully open the boot ?

Looks great! Just need to add some stickers on the box now of all the places you visit. Mine is covered with all kinds of different stickers.
That looks way better than I thought it would, are you getting a ball hitch & trailer next.
2 Tips for you, double check that the topbox is locked, in dry weather and hot sun check the suction cups. Been a user for 20 yrs

At the end of the day it is your choice mate, you and Laura are the ones who matter in deciding whether you like it or not, I like it it is very practical and it looks OK, so go for it.
Well I suppose I can no longer say “I’ve never seen a Cayman with a roof box”.
Just make sure both the roof and the suckers are impeccably clean before fitting. A scratch roof wouldn’t be cool
Well James, was the looking stupid part ever in question? All jokes of course. I think it's admirable to find a way to accomplish your dreams. I like being different and standing out, and I think if you are pushing towards a dream, anyone who doesn't support you can only motivate you.
Laura looked like a bond villan as the garage door opened, I was expecting her to say "ah Mr bond I've been expecting you" 😂. I was a bit dubious of the roof box on a porche but it did look good. I worked for a well known car accessory retailer and thule are a good brand although it is pronounced "to lay" I do remember that lol

It looks like it has a Mohawk which strangely suits the car and matches the wheels, to be honest i wouldn’t do this if I had a Porsche and a BMW as I would use the BMW. The bars from behind look a little odd and spoil the look of a very beautiful car but all that matters is if you and Laura are happy with it. You do need to get some paint protection film or a wrap on your roof to ensure you don’t get any marks on your roof. I have a sporty roof box and you will get sick of taking it off all the time and putting it in the garage 👍🏻
Not for me James on a Porsche gets some Paint Protection Film on the roof to protect your Paintwork
Your car, your choices, but I would get the box wrapped or painted in the same body colour or just do some panels blue to help it blend in, just like DDEs

I think the roof rack looks fine. The honest issue with it and the look is the bars that stick out from the sides of the box....
Do something about those extra length bars so it is all flush. It would look even better.
But for what you need it for I think it makes 1000% sense.

Good on you James! At least it gets everyone talking and any publicity is good publicity eh right? Do what YOU want to do and don't worry what anyone else says or thinks - life's too short to worry. FYI I think it looks fine obviously the car looks best without the box but it's serving a purpose and allows you to still enjoy a great car. One quick question, from a security point of view, how do stop anyone else from removing the box off the car when parked? Great video keep up the good work. Take care both of you.

It doesn't look too bad actually, wasn't sure it was a great idea at 1st, but I'm warming to it, keep thinking positive and ignore the haters, it's yours to do what you want with.

I've often wondered why car manufactures don't make matching mini trailers (similiar to motorcycle trailers) for their smaller sporty cars.

If it works and it allows you to take a couple of sets of clubs to a course then nothing wrong with it. Wonder if you can get stand-off legs for the back and push the roof box further back like the Huracan on that DDE channel. It'd look better for sure!

We used to use similar to carry glass. Brilliant until a bit of contamination got under the cup and they started to slide.

Looks fantastic. I like the concept, but have one reservation. What about anti-theft? Maybe you've already covered it, but there are desperate types outthere that would rip the whole thing off the roof while you aren't in the car.

Can It be stolen? Might be a silly question but was just thinking even if its empty can someone just undo the suction cups and lift it off.
No it comes with a lock mate to stop it being stolen.

I got my car knowing I’d have to put back seats down to get clubs in the car. At the end of the day that roof box is there for a purpose and as long as it does what it’s supposed to that’s all that matters.

Designed to attach equipment to the side/bottom of boats, adapted for road vehicles... take care if you open the rear boot..🤷🏼♂️

James, it's your bloody car you can do what you want with it. Put Zebra stripes on it if you want. As long as you and Laura are happy, that's all that matter. As for others opinions, they can buy a similar car and do what they want to theirs, even if it is nothing.
My only question is can you get two sets of clubs in there for when you and Laura head to the course?

Hi James I think its a great idea now you can drive a nice car and still have room for your stuff I hope you don think I'm being cheeky but how much did the setup cost as this would be really handy when we go camping we always struggle for space thanks in advance
