  • Join me as I show you how to install a Porsche Tequipment Roof Transport System on your Porsche 996, 997.1 or 997.2 Coupe models. This rack will not fit on a Targa or Convertible. This is a very easy accessory to install by yourself, all you need is the supplied 5m Hex tool in the kit as well as a flat head driver. Installation will take you about 30 minutes to complete, maybe even less.
    I hope this helps you!
    Thank you for watching!

    Thanks for putting all the time and effort into making this very pro looking vid. Very helpful to those of us looking into getting a rack.

    The Porsche branding on the rack looks clean. Nice touch!

    Sweet! I am debating having the factory install a roof rack on my new 911. But I was worried I would ruin the look of the car. It actually looks super nice and not too big a pain to remove if want to drive without the rack. Thanks for making this vid!

    My local Porsche dealer wanted me to leave the car for half a day and charge me 3 hours @$180 ph to install the roof rack. Thanks to your video, I did it in under an hour. Super easy and looks sweet!! Taking my paddle board out on the water this morning. - Thx for sharing the video!!

    Nice video! I’d also mention to thoroughly clean the areas around the attachment points before you start the install. This prevents any dirt or contaminates from getting stuck in there and causing micro-abrasions. I even added a small piece of Suntek clear vinyl to give a little more piece of mind.

      Than you for tuning in Kellin! Great point about keeping the areas super clean and nice touch on the vinyl for protection. I've had the rack on and off a few times already and there is zero evidence that it's there..so that's good. I'll keep an eye on it though. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video. The installation for a 987.2 Cayman is the same (i.e. same rack system as the 997 911).

    Nothing cooler than a rack on a 911 holding a ski rack or a bike. I’ve even seen a kayak on a 911! But with the uninstall being being some work, one has to really want that rack on the top.

      Thanks for watching Jonathan! This rack is amazing, so easy to put on and off. I hope to put a bike on it in the summer. Cheers!

    The factory screws that go into the car’s mounting points are a bear if they’ve never been removed.

    My screw heads look a bit different. Trying to get them off and it’s being soooo difficult. I don’t think they’ve ever been unscrewed before

    Great video! Thanks! Looking at a few 996 options as my Porsche starter kit. Any chance the Targa has rack fittings?

    • @911Percent
      @911Percent  5 років тому +1

      HI Anthony, Targa does not have the hardware to accept the kit. With a targa Seasucker products may be a better solution.

    If you are mounting a rack the first 4 screws that are removed in the video (mounting screws ) are a real pain to remove and all 4 broke / distorted did not come out ! I tried various methods ... high heating a small flat blade screwdriver and melting a slot worked for only one . the other 3 took melting bit by bit out then using a sliced cut bolt (homemade thread chaser ) and heating that several times finally cleared the threads. A tap would not work as the threaded hole bottoms out ). This is on a 2000 C2 . the nylon screw was not going to come out easy. NOTE the thread size is 6mm 1.0 pitch. Hope this helps
