Why should you care about Bundesliga 2? A “hotbed” of young emerging talent, plus some of the biggest teams in Germany, equals the second most popular second tier in Europe (after The Championship).
But will Alex Stewart convince Joe Devine to care?

I cared about the Hanseatic League Alex
Boo
@@jacobmcfarlane3398 😄
I do as well
Me too. It's sad many football fans don't care about things like that. Reminds me of that Orwell quote.
I still do tbh
That shirt/nail polish, talking about the 2. Bundesliga... Alex looking like a caricature of a football hipster here.
EDIT: Oh God he's talking about the Hanseatic League
His nails are Polish?
I'm not ashamed to admit I had to google this shirt, its beyond niche.
@@quacky1874 what is the shirt?
@@27pattywhack2 Its a shirt from "L'equipe Des Etoiles" team from a testimonial game for Ulrich Stielike in 1992.
There should be an episode other way around as in Joe divine explains to alex why he should care about something random
Would be pretty pointless, Alex cares about nothing other than football and raccoons.
@@alerog745 exactly the reason why Tifo should make the video
“Why you should care about the skeleton that lives in my garden”
@@moltresjrcountdowns “why should I care about pogs?”
We all live in fear of the skeleton in Joe's garden. We care deeply.
Joe Devine doing voiceovers: 🧐
Joe Devine IRL: 🤪
Apparently Alex's shirt is from a 1992 testimonial game for a German midfielder and was only ever worn once (see l'equipe des etoiles). If that doesn't scream knowledge of totally arbitrary and pointless football information, then I don't know what does.
Alex you should’ve lied and said the hanseatic league is a Hansi Flick look-a-like competition.
That Hansi Flick once entered and came 2nd
JOE: *He's a Southampton fan*
had me dead.
Also, I did care about the Hanseatic League Alex.
It's really sad that so many people who care about football, also don't care about things like the Hanseatic league. Reminds me of that Orwell quote.
I love that Joe's boring button ate away 15 seconds at the end there.
My Club Hansa Rostock made it to the 2. Bundesliga after ten years in the third, couldn't have wished for a better constellation with all the other exciting clubs, especially local Derbys against St Pauli, Dynamo, HSV, Werder and Kiel.
Thank you for bringing up the Hanse League. 😄
🔵⚪🔴
Yo I had a friend that supports Rostock!
Hansa St Pauli isn't a local derby it's a political derby
Hi boys, the comments are off on the Ronaldo video for understandable reasons but seriously huge props for making the video- it was eerily quiet from a lot of football media when it came out in 2018 and its great to see independent football media like you guys spreading awareness that others keep so quiet, so thanks x
Yeah, I still don’t know what to make of it. Quite a controversial topic.
Which video??
what happened?
Alex paints his nails? what an enigma of a man
He is a stunning icon.
And references the Hanseatic league. Joe's voice may be soothing, but it's the knowledge Alex brings that brings us back.
Me *a history nerd* knowing damn well the hanseatic league fact would go down like a tonne of bricks
I don't know why he even goes down that avenue
it is pretty interesting having 700 year old clubs still playing
@@JJJackson777 the Hanseatic league was a league of city’s not football clubs
@@timothyhurkmans7251 fucks sake hahaha, i thought it was a medieval football league
@@JJJackson777 Football wasnt invented till 1848 and the league system came much later lol
This is a hot take but i personally feel that if i were to present the Bundesliga and the Bundesliga2 to a random non-German individual and giv him a choice to watch one, there is a higher chance that they would prefer the latter because of the competitiveness at the top of the league. Not disrespecting any of the Bundesliga clubs in any way,i just feel that this could be the outcome
As a non-German the thing with Bundesliga if there is a new exiting player that destroys the league at the back of my mind that player will play for Bayen Munich in next season or the season after that. It's a Bayern feeder clubs league.
you're giving the general football fan too much credit, as you've assumed that they'd apply logic and value competitiveness. We know this isn't the case as the premier league is the most popular league worldwide despite its crushing anti-competitiveness. It's farcical that teams like Burnley exist in the same league as an Arab State (City). The viewers just accept that the Burnleys simply exist in this league to survive and have no chance of ever actually winning it. The championship league below the premier league is far more competitive, anybody can win it and the fight for the play of spot puts a dozen or so teams in the running. Yet ask the general fan what they'd prefer to watch and they'll pick the premier league. So to return to the question of the German leagues, the average fan would always opt for 1. Bundesliga as they find it more entertaining to watch Lewandowski score 4 goals in about ten minutes, than watch a contested game in the division below in which either team can win it.
I don't know what the average German would prefer. But I do know that the ticket prices are very fan-friendly, so the stadiums are usually pretty full. Teenagers aren't priced out of the stadiums so you see many young people too, which is vital for long-term, obviously.
When I visited my friend in Solingen, I bought a ticket for the Köln-Ingolstadt match. I think it was 20 euros for a seat, 10 for a standing place where the ultas are. Even though it was an early Saturday match, 13:30 kickoff, no derby, no history between them, it was still full house, 50 thousand with a beer in hand.
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere well that is actually a good point tbh
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere in the last ten years, the prem has had 5 different winners.
The budesliga has had two winners over the past ten years with Bayern winning the last 9 in a row.
La Liga has had 3 different winners the past ten years, Barca, Real and Atletico
Serie A has had 2 winners the past ten years, Juventus winning 9 in a row.
Ligue 1 has had 4 different winners in the past 10 years.
Btw, don't diss Burnley because what Shaun Dyche has done with them is great, and they have one of the best goalkeepers in the league.
All the clubs from cities that used to be in the Hanseatic League (from Sweden, Germany, Poland, Holland etc) should establish a football tournament.
that'd be cool.
Der Hanseatic League 2.0
Henseatic League League
Today I failed to secure a big internship and was feeling low but Joe and Alex and this right here is what made me smile after a long day, cheers
Unlucky bro keep pushing on. There is something around the corner for you 👍🏻
The look of Alex's face when Joe asked if Ralph Hassenhuttl lost 9-0 in the BuLi 2 was priceless 😂😂😂
Alex Stewart is the final boss you have to defeat before becoming the ultimate football hipster.
This channel gives goofy football nerds a home and I love y'all for it
These are my favourite videos, would be good to see JJ talking Scottish football to you
I love this series, and I think that adding the extra minute to the timer makes it feel SO much better than 7. Great content as always
I rub watching fc St pauli on tv growing up and they were such a unique and likeable club. They were in the bundesliga once and were losing games 3-0 on average but their entire stadium was always packed and the fans were cheering all 90 mins regardless. They would score a goal and the entire stadium would erupt as if they just won the world cup, truly a special club.
It's interesting how Joe "I don't know what I care about" Devine is both a terrible choice for this format and by far the best choice for it, too.
It was cool to hear New Zealand international Sarpeet Singh's name dropped 😀
I confirmed my sense of humor is still childish when I started laughing at 7:44 at Alex saying "massive balls"
I think there should be a "Why shouldn't I worry about?" Where Joe has to explain to Alex why he doesn't need to worry about something. Stuff like VAR, diving, international breaks, Kroenkes, Glazers, player discipline, money in football etc.
The Fan culture is also some of the best in Europe, the ticket prices are affordable unlike in England
This is Oscar talking to Michael Scott in The Office
Joe trying to constantly derail Alex is the best thing
This dynamic is weird. Alex who looks like he doesn't care for anything convincing Joe who full of life.... Lol
More Hanseatic league content please
I like your nails. Also, I'm interested in the Bundesliga 2 now
you deffo should give it a go if you got free time. Its probably best and atleast 2nd division with most big and traditional clubs of all. Literally all fans are mad and every game got insane atmosphere, better than almost all 1st division game atmospheres anywhere. I mean look at who is there-HSV,Bremen,Schalke,Nurnberg,Hansa Rostock and Dynamo Dresden now too,all big traditional teams with insane atmosphere. And football there of course is usually great teams attack and games are interesting af, which is why if you see promoted team getting points from big teams in BL wont surprise you. For example Arminia Bielefeld going to Munich and scoring 3 goals and taking 3-3 draw(wouldve even maybe won if not for "offside" which was given against their favour), or Paderborn 3-3 away vs BVB and stuff like that-you get my point
Alex:
Loved the nail polish!
A small note, though -- maybe try matte next time. Cheers!
I never imagined the hanseatic league would be mentioned in a football video. It’s actually a very interesting piece of history
That shirt and nail combo is excellent, and talking about the Hanseatic league always has me hooked on a football video
It's okay Alex, you may be boring Joe with it but I find the links of modern football clubs to centuries-old history FASCINATING.
This channel just continues to grow so organically its amazing to see
🔥
Totally up for a Tifo video on the Hanseatic League.
I am really, really enjoying this series! Well done, lads, keep it going!!
Great series, i love it, keep it coming
As a Darmstadt fan I never in million years expected Darmstadt to be mentioned in a Tifo video
This is my favourite series on UA-cam at the moment! Love it guys.
I love the concept of these videos and the topics you've chosen so far. I would enjoy these videos more if Alex had more unbroken time to tell me about the thing he's trying to convince us to care about. Joe's interruptions are funny, but I think my personal care-o-meter is a little less likely to drop than his. I would watch 10mins straight of Alex telling me all about the Bundesliga 2
My boy sarpreet singh tearing up Bundesliga 2.
Surely Alex needs Extra Time add-ons for interruptions and deviations, determined by a referee ofcourse
I've been screaming about this haha
So glad to see the buzzers make a triumphant return 👍
When football returned to Germany before England I decided to support Koln.... Mostly because I like goats and their mascot is a sweet goat called Hennes.
I have really enjoyed having a second team.. Especially a team with such a fine specimen as Hennes.. I think he plays in a sort of Makelele type DM role..
I would to know what's inspired the black nail varnish. I'm hoping it's a tribute to Portuguese guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Niche.
i wanted to hear more about the hanseatic league, reminded me of playing eu4
Liked and commenting JUST for how happy Alex was about his Hanseatic League comment
This is actually the Year where second Bundesliga is so interesting, that i follow it even more then the first Bundesliga and the Premier League. Also theres way more tradition in second Bundesliga then in the first one at the moment. And in the Second Bundesliga everything is still possible other then in the first Bundesliga and in the premier League, where everyone already knows who will be further up and who will be rather down.
can confirm Sarpreet Singh is exciting, signed him for St. Pauli on fifa20 & he plays about 10 points better than his OVR suggests, left footed too which is undeniably the superior foot
there should be a gif of joe staring right down the camera while the care meter goes down
They mentioned the Hanseatic League and now I’m thinking of a 2. Bundesliga x Buddenbrooks fanfic in which young Hanno Buddenbrooks leads VfB Lübeck to a 3rd place 2. Bundesliga but tragically lose the playoff.
I love these!
So B2 is exciting, risk taking, and has a bunch of young talent both in players and managers. I guess I’ll watch Hamburg.
@tifoirl make a video on 2021 St. Pauli
Loving the making Joe care about stuff!
Good timing!
I am just fighting my Bundesliga promotion with 1860 Munchen.
Heidenheim are a pain in the ass, they take me 14 points ahead and I don't think I will pass them to win the championship
Probably the best episode till now. Alex is phenomenal.
I keep forgetting to look up where Alex gets his football shirts
Has Alex ever failed to make joe care about any topic that he talks about
I think he failed the Liga MX one
Yeah in the last episode when he talked about Liga MX. I think that’s why they increased the time from 7 to 8 minutes since he ran out of time last episode.
Hmm
Is Joe one of Boris's long lost sons? He's giving off the funny man vibes now but with too much power he might be terrifying!
I love that tifo is politically aware but doesn’t ever over do it just little shots here and there and light fun
I think they should have this extra time thing like how football matches do which would be rapid fire in a way.
That boring soundboard kinda ate quite a lot of time
i watch the bundesliga 2 all the time, dynamo dresden are my favorite team, still upset about the sales of niklas hauptmann and marvin stefaniak hopefully we can hang onto kevin ehlers
What’s the song at the end please lads x
Video Idea : Why should I care about Greek Superleague ?I m dying to see what arguments will be presented 😂
An owner ran onto the pitch with a gun. I think that is the ultimate argument for it
something something dated back to some pre-socratic milesian school
I am HERE for Hanseatic league talk
"Pop in the back of the car - carry it around with me"
"You don't drive...."
"Anyway that's the end now"
Good lord it's hard to put my finger on what makes Tifo so bloody good but it just is. Never change, but do more and different shows if that makes sense.
Look at Alex just being a fucking vibe.
Love keeping track of 2.Bundesliga and 3.Bundesliga also. Usually watching Hamburg doing well then have a collapse mid-season and miss out on promotion again haha
Crazy in 3.Liga is Kaiserslauten are terrible and sliding towards bottom of the league.
Watching the league the last 5 years, goal fests every weekend 🙌🙌
Hanseatic League connection blew my mind. Europe is an old old rock.
ok then off to a vfl osnabruck career mode thanks to you guys
Great place to look for solid and affordable players at the beginning of a career mode with a small club 😁
SV Darmstadt ❤
These videos crack me up...the careometer🤣😂
What kit is it that Alex is wearing?
Gained even more respect for Alex with his knowledge of the Hanseatic league.
fun fact:
the Bundesliga 2. (2nd tier)
The English Championship (2nd tier)
and Ligue 1 (1st tier)
all have one former champions league winning team in them, (Hamburg, Notts Forest and Marseille)
I like Alex’s black nail polish
loving the nails!
You could use a try with Serie B, too! : )
love the nails x
Yep, tifo are absolutely the best football UA-cam channel
The, "You don't drive." line at the end made me actually laugh out loud.
Just watch Schalke’s run and the pitch invasion vs St Pauli 😄
Shoutout to Sapreet Singh.
Seb live in Hamburg! Joe's mood visibly worse.
2.Bundesliga > 1.Bundesliga
1.Bundesliga>PL
aye man like Alex wearing a god-tier watch
I like this format in general but there's just way too many interruptions and none of the points being presented are almost ever completed meaningfully/in entirety. Of course, to each their own, but I'm just not enjoying these videos because even though entertainment value is important, if barely anything meaningful comes out of them, it kinda defeats the purpose of the video. Maybe consider adding 15-25% to the estimated time required to cover the talking points. It will allow time for the banter but also, importantly, the actual content.
talk about the brazilian league, it's a really cool one
I was just listening to this and when I heard 'trading confederation from the 1300s' I had to look at my phone to see Joe's face
please dont interrupt him mid sentence as much. if you have to, let him finish his sentence. he is talking slow enough...
A “boring” button ought never be boring and excessively long. Otherwise fantastic video. Kudos to Alex!
To find out about the rising young managers?
Joe and my three yo niece: I DON'T CAREEEEEEEEEEE
Bundesliga 2 sounds like a sequel
Big!!
