Here in Serbia there are few stories about 1991 UCL final and how Marseille tried to bribe Red Star players and staff into losing the game. Goalkeeper Stojanovic basically got approached by some shady men with a bag full of money and advice to "sell the game or else", while Savicevic who would later play for AC Milan said few other players were offered 500.000 deutsche mark each to sell the game. While these accounts still aren't 100% confirmed as truth, considering Marseille would get busted for match fixing just two years later and the fact that stories came directly from the mouths of players and staff who were in the club at that time, not some fan forum or tabloid gossip, there's a decent chance I would say of them being accurate.

Sunday of Miracles: it is quite important to set the scene of matches. Coaches and mangers of both teams were on the phone constantly. When Łodź scored Legia very soon scored too and every goal in one match resulted in goal just a minute later in the other game. When Polish Federation poorly investigated this situation one of investigators said one of the most famous words in polish football. "Whole Poland saw, yet you [federation] are bilnd." This ended his career.
So from I gather it seems like only match that was fixed was Legia vs Wisla, the other team was just hammering a relegated side and kept scoring more and more to win the league, while Wisla just allowed Legia to keep scoring on them to keep the Goal difference the same. If that's the case then Lodz really got screwed over

10:12 Fact about Henry Kissinger, he actually won Nobel Prize for Peace in 1973 for negotiating peace between Vietnam (my country) and USA, the prize was shared by him and Vietnamese politician Le Duc Tho, but Mr. Le declined the prize beacause he felt peace wasn't anywhere visible in Vietnam in 1973, also mostly because he and Henry were always on bad terms, especially after their negotiation in late 1972 the USA bombed North Vietnam harder, which was quite near my home. I don't know if Henry had any influence on Argentina at that time but from Vietnamese perspective he is not a peacemaker at all. #myopiniontbf
Henry Kissinger is notorious for overthrowing democratically elected governments, and installing right-wing dictators in their place, especially in South America
Greetings from Argentina. Kissinger was the mastermind of something called "Operation Condor" that was pretty far from being positive for anyone at South America, as it affected most countries from the region. At first, it was thought to be only to topple the Chilean goverment of the time, as a leftist won elections there, but then it expanded towards the whole region as most South American nations became US-backed dictatorships who applied state terrorism against the kind of people described in this video. There's some interesting videos about all of that shit that will explain things better than I could ever do, so just look for "Operation Condor" and enjoy.
Alfie, how about making a video about how much time Premier League teams gave last season to playing players who'd come up through their youth ranks or from the ages of 17/18 upwards? Then we'd see who really values their young players, or teams with an excellent youth system.
I think your latter query is certainly split into 2 different points. Some teams can have excellent youth systems, but for whatever reasons, they don't make it to the first team, or you can have those that don't have special youth teams, but have integrated a decent amount of youth players into the first team. A great example, of course, is Chelsea's youth system from the mid-late 00's until 2017 ish, when they kept producing player after player and won a multitude of trophies at youth level, but the players never really made the grade in the first team, though they still went on to achieve solid or even great things elsewhere. Compare that to the recent setup, which is still decent but not winning any trophies, yet the first team has been filled with youth players being integral parts to various trophy wins.
@@giantjellyfish2886 Where in the original comment does it say anything about them only being teenagers? It makes mention of young players, players who came up from the youth teams, and/or 17/18 _and upwards_ (upwards being the key word you've conveniently ignored there). That would mean Mason Mount, Reece James, Andreas Christensen, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who all played significant parts during the season, as well as Harvey Vale, Xavier Simons, and Lewis Hall all playing games (all teenagers), albeit in cup competitions. I also set out a specific time frame for the criteria, with 2017 or 2018 being the cut off of the previous youth era, and everything from then to now being the current setup, which then allows me to include Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Billy Gilmour, and Ethan Ampadu, not to mention CHO made his debut in 2017 as a 17 year-old, and made his league debut in early 2018 (still 17).
Literally every day we’re seeing fixed matches and all kinds of scandals... it’s crazier than ever. I even saw Kevin Lorsen, the casino streamer, talking about buying real fixed matches online.
I followed that guy too, and I got banned with 2.4k left in my betting account, and didn’t even get a refund... Can sportsbooks recognize fixed matches?
Following yesterdays result, there have only ever been 7 results worse than England 0-4 Hungary in Englands entire history, would be cool to see a video on that
Well, there's (at least) no evidence of rigging, but more of poor refereeing performance. Still, after Ovrebo's "confession" some sort of investigation should've been done given that, unlike Anderlecht in this video, the won the Champions League.
Hoyzer fixing the "Paderborn - Hamburger SV" first round DFB Cup match in 2004 should be on this list... He awarded to questionable penalties for the lower league team, which advanced 4:2. Hoyzer manipulated more games, but that was the only one including a Bundesliga team. It also had quite big implications, since the coach Klaus Topmöller never really recovered from this loss and got sacked a couple of months later... just to never ever get another job in Germany... which is quite insane, considering that he led Bayer Leverkusen into the Champions League final in 2002...
It's weird how stupid that was. Trying to fix a lopsided matchup is not only potentially a losing cause (there's only so much you can fix without giving it up completely), but if you do manage to fix it there will be more red flags and if you do it in order to have people win with bets there will be fewer suspicious people. If I wanted to fix matches, I'd go for games that were already favoured to go a certain way. Betting when you have 90% odds vs. having virtually 100% odds in that same game makes a huge difference - and most of the time you either don't need any fixing at all or can swing it with just 1-2 decisions. And if your accomplices place large enough bets, the gain will be the same.
@@DrZaius3141 Well... they started with minor league games and got greedy. You will probably make more money fixing one Cup Upset, then by fixing 10 90 % odds games.

The World cuo Quarter Final of South Korea v Spain was fixed. I've never met a person who isn't Korean who thinks it wasn't fixed. I was watching that match on a bus in Thailand. I was the only nnon Thai on the bus. Everyone thought it was fixed. Spain scored 2 perfectly good goals that were ruled out for Offside.
I don't think it was fixed, but I do feel like Spain was treated badly. What it seemed like to me was that the ref wasn't pleased with the consistent whining by the Spanish team (it was absolutely ridiculous) and consequently ruled in favor of South Korea pretty much all game whenever a situation was somewhat doubtful. As the Koreans generally played pretty cleanly the Spanish looked like absolute bastards. What doesn't help is that this match is often coupled with the Italy match where the ref was poor. As Italy played with a lot of frustration (as they were absolute dogshit that match) there are some tough tackles and iffy situations on show. Compilations usually don't show how scummy Italy was, only focusing on retaliatory actions by the Koreans, who in the end also played like scum. Much like the legendary NL - Portugal slaughterhouse, it wasn't really NL or Portugal who started, the ref was just bad. What should happen, and this isn't done enough even today, is referees taking a harsher approach when teams start whining and just generally being badly behaved. You whine to the ref about everything you get a yellow card. You go on, you get a red.
In 2002 Corea - Italy and Corea - Spain were fixed because Fifa wanted to have an Asian team in the semifinals to boost the popularity of football in Asia. Who won the next 2 WCs? Italy in 2006 and Spain in 2010.

I wondered if you'd mention the 1973 European Cup winners cup final - I guess whilst referee Christos Michas was later banned for match fixing, this game wasn't referenced by UEFA. I know Leeds fans feel the game was thrown in Milan's favour by the ref.
Some months later, Milan was humiliated in the European Supercup by Ajax Amsterdam and in 1974 European Cup Winners Cup final, Milan lost against FC Magdeburg (being the only time that a Democratic Germany club won a international championship).
1975 European Cup Final- The ref denyef Leeds two penalty appeals as Franz Beckenbauer first handled the ball in the box and then brought down Allan Clarke in a tackle and a goal by Peter Lorimer was also disallowed. Leeds were by far the better team on the day, yet the referee clearly was in favour of Bayern Munich. The official was rated incredibly poorly by FIFA officials observing the game but was not formally investigated.
Well as brian clough once said to the leeds team you can throw all your medals in the bin as you've not won anything without cheating karma is a bitch😂😂😂😂😂
It's worth mentioning that the World Cup with 48 teams will make fixing the result of the last match a thing again since it's rumored to feature 3-team groups.

In the build-up to the Argentina and The Netherlands final in 1978 the host decided to move a concert/festival into the square in front the hotel where the Dutch squad was staying and have the band playing throughout the night underneath the players windows. The Argentine worldcup hosts used every dirty trick to make sure the Dutch squad would get no sleep ahead of the final.

There have been a few tales, 3 I can think of, as to why Cruyff was not there in 78. 1. He did not agree with the junta rule and declined to go. 2. The alleged threats. 3. Because Mrs Cruyff banned him from going after the Holland 74 team shared a jacuzzi with some scantily clad ladies.

The Disgrace of Gijon drew some REALLY strong reactions from fans and commentators. Fans in the stands waved paper money at the players and chanted "Let them kiss! Let them kiss!" German and Austrian fans jeered, while one West German was so upset he burned the West German flag in protest. The TV commentator for West Germany at one point said, "This is a farce. That is all I will say." And sure enough, he kept silent the rest of the game. The TV commentator for Austria outright said, "Viewers, please watch something else. Anything else deserves your attention more than this." Even the local newspaper in Gijon had a strong reaction: The match report was printed in the paper's crime section.
Alfie! What about some "unnoficial" uses of technology (specially stadiums giant screens) to aid refereeing decisions before the VAR was implemented. I remember Elizondo (the referee of the World Cup 2006 final) said he saw the Zidane headbutt on the stadium screens, but I'm not sure if it was the only evidence he had, I think a lineman saw it too.
Our goalkeeper (Filliol) had the number 4 on his back because the military insisted on having the numbers of the players given based on alphabetical order...they were some of the most square minded people that ever existed.
Plenty of hanky panky going on involving Argentina, I watched a video of all their world cup exits from 1990 until 2018 last night and I noticed quite a few penalties given to them that were very questionable, just after watching the six that were awarded to them the past world cup
No, not at all. But the ref lost it quite badly in the end. Øvrebø made some highly disputable calls and pretty much sealed his international career after that match.
I understand why it’s not on the list because as far as I know, it’s never been proven but Derby County’s 1973 European Cup semi final against Juventus deserves a mention. The first leg in Turin was marked by decidedly terrible decision being given against Derby which ultimately cost them a spot in what would have been their first and only Champions League final. Brian Clough believe until his dying breath that the game had been fixed. Assistant manager Peter Taylor was informed that Juventus player Helmut Haller had been seen entering the referee’s dressing room before the game and when he saw it again at half time he tried to gain entry, an attempt that was greeted with an elbow in the ribs by Haller. This is to say nothing of the game with Juventus continually kicking Derby out of the game with no response from the referee. Furthermore Derby’s Archie Gemmil and Roy McFarland we’re both in yellow cards from prebiotics rounds meaning a booking in this game would mean they missed the return leg, by some strange coincidence, both players just happened to receive bookings, with McFarlands being particularly egregious. This match is often not talked about when it comes to fixed games but in my own opinion this is the 1970s version of the 2009 semi final between Chelsea and Barcelona. Finally it should also be said that the possibility of a fix becomes ever more likely when considering Juve’s track record with match fixing. All this contributed to preventing perhaps and earlier run of success and another footballing miracle for the great Brian Clough.
Wasn't Derby County also involved in an equally "miraculous" comeback for Real Madrid cutting down a 4 goals difference? Just how unlucky can a club be.
@@ciudadano1995 no we beat Real Madrid 4-1 at the Baseball Ground and then we lost 5-1 away in the second leg so still very unlucky. Derby are a very unlucky club though.
I watched this video just to see if this game was included. Not surprised that it didn’t feature, though, as it hasn’t yet been proven, even if it was bloody obvious.
well if you call the gijon game fixed, then you could say the same about the 0-0 between denmark and france at the 2018 world cup. it was the result that guaranteed both teams would qualify from their group, no matter how the other game in the group (peru vs australia) ended. I don't see why gijon is seen as a scandal while the 2018 situation was similar and tbh it is an understandable thing to do. I remember during the world cup qualifiers in 2018 colombia and peru were drawing 1-1 when news broke in halftime that both would qualify for the world cup at chlie's expense if they drew the game. and of course nothing happened in the 2nd half. these things aren't scandalous
Are you r*tarded ebough to suggest that not going for a win because you don't need a win as a team's match strategy and deciding beforehand between the two teams who is gonna win and by how much is the same thing?
What about the European cup game between Dundee utd.and Roma (or Barcelona I can't remember) were Dundee utd won 2-0 in the first leg. Meaning Roma had to score 3 goals or more without conceding a goal .and They did exactly that. The game was clearly fixed and the president of Roma admitted he had fixed the match when he was about to die.
Liverpool 0-2 Man Utd in 1915 Seven players were banned when the fix was exposed...the fix also directly led to Arsenal's corrupt promotion in 1919, as Chelsea were relegated in 1915 as a result of Man Utd winning, so the first division was expanded by 2 clubs after WW1, in order to right the wrong of Chelsea's relegation. Henry Norris's blackmailing and scheming got Arsenal the other spot in the first division.
Aged like fine wine The WC was so dodgy Refs helped Argentina win so people can hype up Messi and forget about the atrocities that happened to those workers building the grounds
Wasn't every single WC location fixed? I mean Qatar was an absolute disgrace of course, but wc hosts were always determined by money (even when the host nation was poor like South Africa 2010 or Argentina 78)
It may be controversial, but in my opinion tournaments hosted by authoritarian dictatorships that were "conveniently" won by the home teams that had never been favourites up to that point, should be far more contested and doubted than they actually are. For example Mussolini's Italy hosting and winning the world cup in 1934, Argentina doing so in 1978, or Franco's Spain winning the Euros in 1964. I believe that, in acts of honesty, we should probably revise those competitions to (probably) find they were completely rigged or at least heavily altered. Leaving exacerbated nationalism aside, those countries should for the sake of democracy and sport consider tose trophies as illegitimate. I should clarify that I am Spaniard, but would have no problem recognizing 1964 Euros were fixed by the fascist government of my country if it were the case. I have no evidence, but honestly, I would be amazed if Franco's regime didn't at least try to heavily influence that competition.
I have similar concerns if the US wins WC 2026 even if Biden wins reelection given that a large contingent of the US population has strongly fascistic tendencies and probably would be win at all costs at home. Palenogenic nationalism is particularly strong in the GOP. The other issue is the gerontocracy which dominates leadership structures in politics and controls the ability of the USSF to be tax exempt without bending to the nationalistic will of Congress or a President. As to why the gerontocracy is so nationalistic has a lot to do with the Cold War and the US pumping money into everything. If there was a place the US could manipulate a WC, it'd be on their home ground with a decent enough roster that it wouldn't be suspicious to Americans and the USMNT roster whether for 22 or 26 given the ages is exactly that.
I always love when I start watching a video and already know that my home country of Austria will be mentioned. Let me just pass the ball back to my keeper before I can continue watching.
yeah in the first leg where drogba and ballack didn’t get sent off and barca were denied of 3 clear penalties and multiple wrong offside calls 🤣 but no one talks about that
I'd add two of Barca semi finals to the list (one vs Chelsea, other vs Arsenal) - no one will convince me these games weren't rigged; although I understand you only talk about games that were proven to be rigged
Barcelona v Chelsea was probably the most blatantly obvious case of match fixing! Chelsea got robbed about seven times in that game alone on calls that were so obvious even the Barcelona faithfuls were totally in awe of what they were witnessing!
I am a Chelsea fan and that loss really hit me so bad, but there was nothing match fixing about the match. The match was just a case of bad refereeing. The referee loss control of the match after he booked Abidal, Chelsea played 11 against 10 over 1 hour of the match but failed to capitalize, loss their discipline and started feeling like the referee was against them even though if there was VAR at the time, Abidal red card would have been ruled out and yes Chelsea deserved a couple of penalties and the ref did a bad job. But its not match fixing. A referee cannot fix a match as big as a semi final between two European giants.
@@chukwudidaniel7412Not only that, at the start of the play that saw Abidal getting a red card because Anelka fell down 3 meters away from him, Drogba and Pique jump to try to head a ball and Drogba takes this chance to kick Pique in the stomach. Me being from Switzerland, I'm always happy when they make it into the tournament, since up to USA 1994 they didn't qualify for anything for 30 years. Roy Hodgson from England was the coach back then, our whole nation is still thankful for him, since then the team has made all the Euro's and the last 5 World Cups. But with all the international players we have now, they could start performing up to potential once, we may need another British coach to teach us some more football.
You forgot AS Roma V Dundee Utd in the European Cup Semi-Final (1983-84) season (2nd Leg). That was pretty major. Dundee Utd won the first leg 2-0 and lost the 2nd leg 0-3. The referee was later convicted of having been bribed by Roma. Dundee Utd would have played Liverpool in the final. Given the dizzy heights of Scottish football at the time (Bayern Munich 2 V Aberdeen 3, Cup Winner's Cup Semi-Final and Real Madrid 1 V Aberdeen 2 (Cup Winners Cup final), Dundee Utd may well have defeated Liverpool.
Why put a pic of drog on the thumbnail if you didn't include this match....literally the only reason I clicked on this video. I wish youtubers would stop using click bait

Anything bad on international relations for the past 50, 60 years has to do with Kissinger
Kissinger is one of the biggest war criminals in history.
American here, we all hate Kissinger.
@@metalswifty23 not a single teenager has played a single minute for chelsea in the prem this season mate
Does that include first teams that play academy players from other clubs?

Hoyzer fixing the "Paderborn - Hamburger SV" first round DFB Cup match in 2004 should be on this list... He awarded to questionable penalties for the lower league team, which advanced 4:2. Hoyzer manipulated more games, but that was the only one including a Bundesliga team.
It also had quite big implications, since the coach Klaus Topmöller never really recovered from this loss and got sacked a couple of months later... just to never ever get another job in Germany... which is quite insane, considering that he led Bayer Leverkusen into the Champions League final in 2002...

@@bananajoe4233 booked? More like send off with a red card...

Chelsea v Barca was a definite fix.
Fuck sake I just started watching the video expecting this one to be there

I don't see why gijon is seen as a scandal while the 2018 situation was similar and tbh it is an understandable thing to do.

Bro you're thumbnail is script... I was here to see Barcelona paying the ref in the Chelsea match... Not cool
I was at Luigi Ferraris Stadium the day Genoa won against Venezia...Were the days in wich a young Diego Milito was rising in Italy...
Weren't Leeds the victims of a dodgy ref in the SF or Final of the European Cup in the early 70s?
Yes, against Bayern Munich in the final
5 hour video coming before the next world cup then Alfie 😅
In all seriousness loce the channel, unique subject matter and very informative! ❤
Speaking of match fixing, what about a video on "Golden Whistle" Case in Portugal?
Why show Drogba on the cover if there’s nothing on him?? Embarrassing.
Oh my god, a 23 minutes powerpoint presentation with only images.
New Zealand vs Costa Rica 15/06/2022
yes 😔
Why put a pic of drog on the thumbnail if you didn't include this match....literally the only reason I clicked on this video. I wish youtubers would stop using click bait
Leeds, surely? Beckenbauer admitted that Munich paid the ref in the European cup final
Honorable mentions: PSG vs Barça
Talking about corruption in football, you want to have a read about the 1934 world cup in Italy, and Mussolini influence Italy were one of the worst teams going in that era and Czechoslovakia were one of the best and yet Italy won it
Surely Roma (yes another Italian club) and their disgraceful cheating, slander, and general lack of sportsmanship, against Dundee United in the 1984 European Cup semi deserves a mention.
Finally some 1978 wc critique, Argentina bribed their way to a win
As a dutchman i firmly believe the final was rigged that year.
