Thank you for this video! My dads 2015 ram has been fine until about a few months ago. He couldn’t figure out how water was coming in until him and my husband took out the seats. Cannot even believe this isn’t a recall. My dad ordered the new vents and we just installed them & did our own water test. It works!!! Can’t thank you enough for the walkthrough

Your welcome. It definitely should be a recall between these and the third brake light. God bless.

Recalls only happen if the problem is a safety issue where serious injury or death may occur.....I've dealt with NHTSA on a motorcycle issue starting in '06 that many felt should have been a recall as it could lead to a death but no injuries or deaths were ever recorded so it was never addressed.

I had a similar issue. I first resealed the brake light, then replaced the cabin vents, but I still had a massive leak. Turns out it was the drain holes for the sliding window were completely clogged. You have to remove the cables from the track to see and gain access to the drain holes. I actually drilled them to a larger size. Leak fixed.

That’s crazy. I don’t have a sliding window and I guess it’s a good thing I don’t. I’ve also had to reseal my third brake light. It’s crazy how bad these trucks leak.

@@SouthAlabamaPiper31 Agreed! The bad thing is you can’t see the drain holes. You MUST remove the cables on the left and right side of the window to see them. And to make matters worse, the drain hole is not in the bottom of the track, it’s on the side, so the track has to fill up with water before it drains. How crazy is that?!?!

Thank you for this. Mine has the new type of vents, but same old problem on my 2010 Ram. Replacing mine. Drying out the underseat carpet and pad as we speak. Blessings!

Thanks, I've got a 2017 Ram Express and have the passenger floorboard full of water thinking it was the sliding window. I've heard lots of issues with the cabin vents but haven't seen how to replace them. Good job!

Thanks. Yeah I figured I would show how to do it since I couldn’t find any either

Thanks for the great video having to do the same thing.
resealed whole back window , third brake light and the black navigation thing on the roof.
still kept getting water inside the cab.
Here in florida the rain does not seem to stop.
I pray that this will work .
very disappointed on the quality of these vents and the thin thin rubber they used.
i thinking if this does not work i am just going to seal off the two vents.
    some sheet metal and silicone.

My new ones seem to still be working well. I’m in Alabama so I definitely understand the rain lol

@@SouthAlabamaPiper31 thanks again got it all done in 45 minutes and I did the fold down trick to the back seat.
What took the longest was trying to dry it out.
Thanks again for the great vedio.

Yeah that’s crazy. It’s definitely an easy and inexpensive fix once I figured it out.

Just called about mine because I bought extended warranty. Guy says “Warranty won’t cover this. We have a guy that will come water test it for $280 then parts and labor from there”. Tf I don’t need a water test. The puddle in the back of my truck is water tested enough. Machanics are bullshit and so is ram for this shitty design that’s been failing for years.

Andrew, my stealership told me the same thing. What a blessing this video is though. Seems pretty easy to DIY. Thanks a ton Lance. God bless ya! 😊

do not try to caulk/seal the edges. it still leaks and you have a mess getting the sealant off

    • @SouthAlabamaPiper31
      @SouthAlabamaPiper31  Рік тому

Good to know. I haven’t had any issue with leaks since I installed these and I didn’t use any kind of sealant so hopefully they hold up longer than the originals.

Anybody just delete the vent and when closing doors just crack a window?
