  • Battling a water leak into the cab of a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. I have gone over almost every possible area where water can be coming into the cab including having the rear window replaced. in this video I go over the areas where the water can come in.

    The vents on the back of the cab, called “exhausters”, are a common leak source. Replacing them only requires unbolting the rear seat from the floor and removing the soft soundproofing at the back of the cab.

    Yes there is a problem with the 2020 Ram as well. Just got a crack in the seal and shorted my rf hub leaving me stranded for 12 hours. Luckily it was a hot day and everything dried and I was able to start my car again.

    Ours is a 2014 and it has the sunroof and it is the limited mega cab check the front drain holes from the sunroof in the front door jam. Thought it was fixed but lots of water near the rear seat right down next to the foot area, the carpet is always wet in that area. Also, the headliner gets wet in the passenger rear corner. We have not been able to get the drain tubes from the rear of the sunroof yet. Thanks for putting this up and we also posted a video on our channel.

    Stellantis released an extended warranty 150k miles or 8 years to cover repair on the rear glass. Im taking mine in for replacement under the warranty from sept 2023.

      My 2019 Longhorn had water in the storage areas under the back seat. When I took it to the dealer I was told I had to make an appointment on a Tuesday or Thursday, when their chain's itinerant water intrusion specialist could see it, and I'd have to leave it because he had an uncertain schedule. I was told that there would be a $220 charge if he didn't find a leak in the light. OK, you get a letter in the mail warning you that water could be coming in through their light and offering an extended warranty. Normally with a recall you bring the car in, they examine it and do their thing if needed. Well, he did report that the light needed replacing (not resealing), but they would have to order it. I will have to make another Tuesday or Thursday appointment, the light will be replaced and another evaluation will be done, for a potential charge of $220. I fully expect that they will be able to find something to work on that is not covered. I've had other pickups which did not leak, so WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. Toyota/Lexus SUVs leak like a sieve, so Ram is not alone.

    My 2017 is leaking in the upper passenger side rear window area. Thanks for the video. I'm going to seal that weather strip end where it meets the top of the glass.

      Replace that seal with the new stuff and that should stop most leaks.

      @@SteveSRandomStuff I replaced the 3rd brake light gasket too. It was really flattened out. This should stop the leaking!

    Had 2019 Laramie, water leak at front floor board as well rear window. Had rear window replaced. Finally had enough and found Lemon Law attorney - sold truck back to mfg…. Bought a 2020 Rebel, just had third brake light replaced under extended mfg warranty. Now the truck is in the shop again, getting rear glass replaced under extended mfg warranty. If it still leaks, I’ll be taking a close look at the rear vents behind the seats. Love the fifth gen trucks, but might be my last due to last two trucks and the water issues. Stellantis has to do better than this!

      See my wordy response to knot333 above about my 2019 (Laramie) Longhorn's problem. I always park facing uphill and I attribute that practice to preventing water from traveling to the front, and so limiting the damage to just the rear. I detest my panoramic sunroof, not because it leaks, but because it raises the temperature inside the truck so much. I stuffed a sheet of that mylar bubble insulation between the glass and the BLACK sunshade and dropped the temperature from 130 to a balmy 120. I love the features of the 5th gen but wish Ram would test their products.

    Having similar issues with water intrusion in a 2017. I believe there was a class action lawsuit that was thrown out which is wild seeing as to how so many people seem to be faced with leaking in the roof area and rear of the cab interior.

      I believe that you can get a replacement gasket for the 2017 and all 4th Rams. Just not the 5th gens.

    One thing about the 2014, if we are parked downhill, lots of water will leak in on the front door handle passenger side during a large rain when I was sitting in the truck up in Auburn, the bucket filled up 1 gallon of water. If I am pointed uphill at just a slight angle it does not leak from the passenger handle on this truck but it leaks into that back corner and gets the carpet very wet right next to the door sill. The 2006 ram mega cab Laredo it never gets the headliner wet and I do not notice moisture on the rear carpet. If it rains 1 inch we will get 1 gallon of water dripping from the doorhandle. We have checked front green tubes from the sunroof on both trucks with no success yet.

  • @redwood6737
    @redwood6737 Рік тому +1

    We have a 2006 Mavic mega cab Limited 1500 also. It leaks from the two front door handles also mainly on the passenger side and we hang a bucket and that spot. Depending on the angle of the truck it may leak on the passenger side door handle also we tried cleaning the tubes from the sunroof where they come into the door jam but it is still leaking. We cannot open the sunroof on this truck to pour water down as it is broken $1800 to fix it cost us $170 to find that out . back to the issue on the 2014 ram, like your truck my carpet gets wet next to the backseat right at the door sill. We continually put towels there to soak up the water. The headliner gets wet in the back corner passenger side, we appreciate your research and sharing on UA-cam and knowing we are not alone with the leaky ram truck.

    After watching a lot of random truck videos over the last couple years it seems like the f150s have the least amount of problems. Stumble across a lot of ram/tundra and Silverado problems.

    This is for the 5th gen owners only. Yes it's b.s. And yes their is a lawsuit based out of Alabama regarding water intrusion. Mine is going back for the 5th time. I'm on my 3rd slider, 2nd headliner, 2nd 3rd brake light housing. FCA has warrantied the 3rd brake light up to 155,000 miles. Contact them. Good luck. Last FCA product for me.

    It seems like every ram model have this problem i have a 2017 ram black express and water was getting in on the passenger back seat side, i replace the air vent in the back seat and that stop the leak that was going under the seat. Today rain and i notice water on the back of the seat i can see the water standing there so that means the water is coming in from the same spot you put tape on. I check the third brake light and that seal still good. Ram really mess this up.

      Once I replace the third brake light seal, the problem went away. You have to completely remove that old seal, clean the surfaces and install the new weather striping. Check out one of my later videos on this. My problem is gone after that.

  • @redwood6737
    @redwood6737 Рік тому

    We are of course, frustrated by this. Now we are in to sunny weather finally so it is not a problem but all the junk we kept under the backseat and behind the seat needed to be removed and dried out. We are thinking of calling Ram cares .have you tried that for a solution? One UA-cam channel said the spring holes in the track on the sunroof are a problem. We clean the grease off with alcohol in that area and put some silicone but it did not seem to stop any leaks.

      I contacted Ram Cares, but it didn't help. They suggested contacting the dealership to get this repaired. The dealership told me that my truck is out of warranty (2019) so they refused to fix it. RAM should have done a recall on this

      That really sucks. Try replacing the gasket on the 3rd brake light. Hopefully that is the source of the water problem. I recently did a video which summarizes some of the problems. ua-cam.com/video/U6faRTi4CGI/v-deo.html

    My 2020 leaked and went behind seat into the RF Hub module and corroded so bad it wouldn’t work. Which means no key fob at all, yup, nothing. Can’t unlock truck, start it, nothing. Towed to dealer and $1,800. Labor, parts and tax. They wrapped the hub with plastic bag, that’s mopar bag, hilarious. Design flaw 100%. 38,000 miles. Exhaust manifold cracked in half at 28,000 miles, that got fixed under warranty.

    I bought a 2008 dodge ram 2500 and been rebuilding the truck. Honestly the biggest peace of junk. I will never buy a dodge,chevy or ford again. I'll stick with toyota or nissan.
