- I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard Disturbed's powerful cover of "Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel. As soon as the song built up to that iconic bridge, my jaw literally dropped in stunned disbelief. The raw emotion and chilling vocals gave me goosebumps all over. Now my authentic reaction is going viral, thanks to Disturbed's haunting rendition that reinvents this 60's classic into a modern rock epic. The melody and meaning still resonate just as strongly decades later!

Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song at a time when the tv was taking over the home. People no longer talked at the dinner table, they watched tv while they ate and the tv was becoming the electric baby sitter. They were warning us not to ignore each other. Disturbed is the reality we have today. People talking without speaking...they text. Hearing without listening...they read what others write on their phones. No one wants to disturb the sound of silence by actually interacting with another person. And the neon god we made? The Smart phone. A whole generation has lost the art of being social with each other and that is the fulfillment of Simon and Garfunkel's warning and the rage for this loss is Disturb's version.

"Save our Last Goodbye" is THE most underrated Disturbed song.
Someone close to him is dying of cancer and he's dealing with the pain of having to say goodbye.

David Draiman, the lead singer, has a powerful and unique voice. The band has been around for quite a long time, since the 1990"s. Many of their songs are a lot heavier than this, but if you would like another ballad, I would suggest one off of their latest album, "Don't Tell Me" featuring the great Ann Wilson. There is a new music video that was released a short time ago that is lovely.

This band is not a one hit wonder. Disturbed is one of the best bands there is. The messages they tell with their songs are second to only maybe Metallica. There are a few songs I will recommend. All three carry deep meaning with them and one of them is dark as a for warning. Inside the Fire is the one that is dark, but the message is very profound. The light is a song that has saved many lives and I jest you not. Last is Don't tell me with Ann Willson it carries a message that is hard to put into words. I have come to accept that Disturbed is capable of putting messages in all of their songs when it might have otherwise not happened with other artists. Every song of Disturbed's has meant something to everyone that has listened to them. I can't even come close to giving enough praise to them for all they have done.

David Draiman is an amazing man. If you google him you’ll be so surprised about his accomplishments. When I heard this cover, I had to find out who they were. I’ve watched the video so many times it never gets old! I love seeing the reaction on the faces of people that never heard this cover!
Listen to down with the sickness to hear davids true rasp power he is one of only a few that can sing live with out auti tune and his range is powerfull as some one els said simon publicly loved davids cover to get that from simon and garfuncle is high praise indead

There a metal band but this song by Simion & Garfunkel a softer but l love this version from a man from Australia who struggles everyday with PTSD
You have to remember what was going on in the US when Paul released this song , it was vary on point for how people felt. Now with whats going on in The US and the World the harder version was needed. It should be the anthem for Americans to force change in our Government. Really listen to the words and look around you! One of our states just passed a law making it a crime to be homeless where do you think that will take US?

The S&G original was fine enough, but there's just something about David's voice that sort of violently pulls more emotion out of a person. Like, his voice just reaches into your soul and RIPS the emotion out, whether you like it or not. I haven't really kept up with Disturbed in the better part of 15 years now, but they haven't made anything I would personally call bad music. That's just my opinion, but youd probably be interested in listening to their albums in release order to hear the evolution of his vocal sound and the sound of the geouo in general. He's also the singer of Device, who also have some catchy songs. I think Disturbed is better, but Device are no slouches either

Like most reviewers, I’m sure she previewed the song in advance. She basically knew what was coming and paused the video at all the right places. This takes away from the “hearing for the first time” claim. Seen it many times on so many other reaction videos.
