As someone who has lived with a debilitating stammer for many years, this song cuts so deep to people who struggle to communicate like myself.
One of the most beautiful songs of all time.

Psychologists would have a field day observing and examining the body language of you three and a few utterances that were made. The left. Arms folded throughout, only one or two instances of emotions while watching but did feel open to saying that she felt good about the song and singer. Middle. Stayed stoic at first and then leaned in far and lowered his brow when the singer unleashed the raspy heavy lyrics. Right. looked calm and then looked at ease and then almost erotically excited with the deeper tones of the singer. All in all, I would say the singer and the musicians did their jobs well.

Disturbed is a very heavy metal band that’s been around for a while now. We took our 16yr. Old Daughter to see them live in Memphis. My husband has always been a die hard country music fan but we were right in front. We were all blown away! It was so powerful, we are all tremendous fans! They are also very spiritual and that’s a big plus to me.♥️

The band was there. The man on the large drums behind him was the band's drummer, the piano player was the lead guitarist, the other guitarist was playing guitar. Then they had the orchestra surrounding them of course.

David Dramian was trained to be a Cantor when he was a child. He has an incredible vocal range as demonstrated by this song. Very intelligent and well read person. This Conan video and the original video release have been viewed over a billion times. After this performance, Paul Simon messaged him and told him he approved of this version.

@@jamiemacdonald436 he doesn't look like he has terrible flu at all he would have crapped his pants and you'd see it on his face. There's nothing odd in his singing, like smelly cat. @Bellas1717 Рік тому +1

@@jamiemacdonald436 I was once abused for making the comment about his eyes looking as if he was feverish. The reply was that he was stoned. The explanation they gave was that this style of singing was unusual for him (true, he’s said in interviews that he was unsure about returning to this style of singing after many years of heavy rock/metal), and he was nervous about performing that style live, his voice exposed, nowhere to hide a mistake in front of millions of people (again something he has said.) He uses marijuana (he has said he doesn’t attempt to create without it). So that is a possibility and the other a myth that's grown up. Or an illness could be the truth.

@@msdarby515“Hello darkness, my old friend…” Everybody knows the iconic Simon & Garfunkel song, but do you know the amazing story behind the first line of The Sounds of Silence?
It began 62 years ago, when Arthur “Art” Garfunkel, a Jewish kid from Queens, enrolled in Columbia University. During freshman orientation, Art met a student from Buffalo named Sandy Greenberg, and they immediately bonded over their shared passion for literature and music. Art and Sandy became roommates and best friends. With the idealism of youth, they promised to be there for each other no matter what.
Soon after starting college, Sandy was struck by tragedy. His vision became blurry and although doctors diagnosed it as temporary conjunctivitis, the problem grew worse. Finally after seeing a specialist, Sandy received the devastating news that severe glaucoma was destroying his optic nerves. The young man with such a bright future would soon be completely blind.
Sandy was devastated and fell into a deep depression. He gave up his dream of becoming a lawyer and moved back to Buffalo, where he worried about being a burden to his financially-struggling family. Consumed with shame and fear, Sandy cut off contact with his old friends, refusing to answer letters or return phone calls.
Then suddenly, to Sandy’s shock, his buddy Art showed up at the front door. He was not going to allow his best friend to give up on life, so he bought a ticket and flew up to Buffalo unannounced. Art convinced Sandy to give college another go, and promised that he would be right by his side to make sure he didn’t fall - literally or figuratively.
Art kept his promise, faithfully escorting Sandy around campus and effectively serving as his eyes. It was important to Art that even though Sandy had been plunged into a world of darkness, he should never feel alone. Art actually started calling himself “Darkness” to demonstrate his empathy with his friend. He’d say things like, “Darkness is going to read to you now.” Art organized his life around helping Sandy.
One day, Art was guiding Sandy through crowded Grand Central Station when he suddenly said he had to go and left his friend alone and petrified. Sandy stumbled, bumped into people, and fell, cutting a gash in his shin. After a couple of hellish hours, Sandy finally got on the right subway train. After exiting the station at 116th street, Sandy bumped into someone who quickly apologized - and Sandy immediately recognized Art’s voice! Turned out his trusty friend had followed him the whole way home, making sure he was safe and giving him the priceless gift of independence. Sandy later said, “That moment was the spark that caused me to live a completely different life, without fear, without doubt. For that I am tremendously grateful to my friend.”
Sandy graduated from Columbia and then earned graduate degrees at Harvard and Oxford. He married his high school sweetheart and became an extremely successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.
While at Oxford, Sandy got a call from Art. This time Art was the one who needed help. He’d formed a folk rock duo with his high school pal Paul Simon, and they desperately needed $400 to record their first album. Sandy and his wife Sue had literally $404 in their bank account, but without hesitation Sandy gave his old friend what he needed.
Art and Paul's first album was not a success, but one of the songs, The Sounds of Silence, became a #1 hit a year later. The opening line echoed the way Sandy always greeted Art. Simon & Garfunkel went on to become one of the most beloved musical acts in history.
The two Columbia graduates, each of whom has added so much to the world in his own way, are still best friends. Art Garfunkel said that when he became friends with Sandy, “my real life emerged. I became a better guy in my own eyes, and began to see who I was - somebody who gives to a friend.” Sandy describes himself as “the luckiest man in the world.”
Adapted from Sandy Greenberg’s memoir: “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: How Daring Dreams and Unyielding Friendship Turned One Man’s Blindness into an Extraordinary Vision for Life."

Disturbed is a heavy metal band. Though some other bands are a lot more popular. They decided to record this song and thought it would be cool to do it with an orchestra accompaniment. That was in 2015. It was originally written by Simon and Garfunkel in 1965. When interviewed about the song, they explained that the song is about people’s inability to communicate with each other in a meaningful way. Paul Simon would go into his bathroom to write his music because he likes the acoustics in there and would turn off the lights so he could focus. That was part of the inspiration for the opening line of the song “hello darkness, my old friend…” Always enjoy your videos. Greetings from Indiana

Simon and Garfunkle did folk-type music. Some of their songs were very lightly rock-ish, like Bridge Over Troubled Water, sorta, but Scarborough Fair is pure folk, frex. Disturbed is a *very* heavy rock band -- check out Down With the Sickness for something that's more their usual thing -- and their harder, rougher, and by the end angrier version of Sound of Silence is completely awesome. David is a classically trained vocalist, and his voice is amazing.

As you can see he has been musician for quite long time, I have long list of similar bands that are under the same type of genre of music which despite their band name, they can be found under categories of rock and/or christian rock.

David Draiman, the lead singer of Disturbed, said in an interview that he wanted to cover this song to give his family members a piece of music they could listen to. Apparently the classically trained vocalist's family isn't too keen on heavy rock.

Simon and Garfunkle sang this as a warning of things to come, this is talking about the reality and results of our inattention to that warning. He trained as a cantor, so he has so much mastery over that wonderful voice.

He's covering Simon & Garfunkel's original, which I grew up on in the 70s. David Draiman, although a heavy metal singer, has a background as a trained opera singer, thus his gifted vocals.

Apparently David was feeling under the weather for this performance and he wasn't 100% on his singing (according to him).
He was running a bit of a temperature and slight congestion but still pulled off a great performance.

So funny because my mother introduced me to this song but I've been a big fan of Disturbed and they're hard rock versions of music but my mother called me and said you had to hear this... One of my favorite songs absolutely without a doubt. I love how the mom is introducing the kids to disturb❤❤❤
