Greatest cover ever. Votings over, everybody go home.
Agreed!!!!
Thanks for caving to the Disturbed crowd. You would have been torched if you didn't say that you liked the cover better. Guess it's better to go along to get along.
@@sam-zm5zw Uh what now? First am not really a Disturbed fan nor am I interested in catering to them, and second where did I say I thought this was better than the original? S&G's original is a timeless classic that will be forever etched in my soul, but Draiman did an outstanding job in reinterpreting it, and there's no questioning the power of his voice. Both are memorable recordings, period. Maybe read a comment next without the knee-jerk urge to tear it up. You will be so much more at peace.
@@sam-zm5zwI guess reading comprehension was never your strong suit. @RicoCosta317 NEVER said anything about this cover being better than the original.
Hearts cover of Stairway To Heavennis right there
I love the fact that you listened to the entire song without stopping in the middle of the video to make comments about it. I wish more people doing reactions would do that.
Nobody keeps that up because they get copyright claimed.
I like that too, just watch it with reactions, and then watch it again breaking it down.
@@Unacknowledged86 yup, plus some people complain about it.
The original was a gentle warning. This one is an epic Jeremiad, calling down doom due to our failure to heed the earlier warning.
Jeremiad Awesome. Had to look it up. I got a new word today. Thanks
Amen. Thank you for that.
If you understand that Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song at a time when the tv was taking over the home. People no longer talked at the dinner table, they watched tv while they ate and the tv was becoming the electric baby sitter. They were warning us not to ignore each other. Disturbed is the reality we have today. People talking without speaking...they text. Hearing without listening...they read what others write on their phones. No one wants to disturb the sound of silence by actually interacting with another person. And the neon god we made? The Smart phone. A whole generation has lost the art of being social with each other and that is the fulfillment of Simon and Garfunkel's warning and the rage for this loss is Disturb's version.
I am 68 yrs old and this is the absolute Best version of this song I have ever heard!
Check out the version of them singing this song on Conan O'Brian. Even better in my opinion.
Right there with you 😊
I'm 67, and I agree.
David Draiman, the singer, was vocally trained to be a cantor in the Jewish faith. I have been waiting for you to get to this one and I'm so glad you chose the official video. The imagery adds so much to their interpretation of this classic song.
Kudos for not having a preview, for not stopping the video and for not talking over the video while it was playing. That's the way to do a reaction video. I was already familiar with Disturbed's version (and of course, Simon and Garfunkel's version) but I really enjoyed going on the journey of discovery with you.
I'm glad that you heard the Simon & Garfunkel version first and then Disturbed's. Disturbed is conveying the frustration almost 60 years later that we have not listened to what Simon & Garfunkel said originally. That's why the power, the anger and the video is so appropriate and so good. I get chills when I hear both versions.
Also the lead singer was a Marine. He's also putting in his emotions of what he has experienced. 🫡
Best version ever! He was trained as cantor. He has perfect pitch!
Disturbed puts the heart and soul into it. Gives me chills every time !
Loveeee this from Disturbed. The song has so much more impact imo. The voice is unbelievable crisp scream. ❤❤❤
David is so much more than just metal. Epic voice.
This amazing ballad from a heavy metal band!❤
By far the best screamo voice ever ❤
If not already mentioned, check out Disturbed’s cover of Sound of Silence live on Conan. Equally powerful yet a stand alone performance. Incredible!!
🙏🏽❤️🙏🏼Best cover song EVER!
Thank you so much for not interrupting the video. You the man. Peace ☮ ❤
I love this version of this song, so meaningful 😢
Thank you! Playing the entire video before the critique is appreciated.
It is intense! Man has a great voice!
You have the best smile ever! Keep using it.
Such a stunning cover of an amazing classic, best one yet, in my opinion. David's vocals always impresses. Thanx so much, Peace
This cover is epic and David's voice touches me and the song is so in tuned to what is happening in our world today
Well Said Brother 👍
This was the best cover, as you stated. This has broke ground as it does give a different message with the same lyrics. Well done.
Goose bumps every time!
And you didn't interrupt it once. Bravo.
Disturbed is not even close to being a cover band. They usually do 1 cover per album. They have 20 years of original music.
28 years, 1996.
they have done one cover song every album since their first .✌✌
The Simon & Garfunkle one is nice and folksy, look at the times they were in. Now look at the times WE'RE in. They're the same words, but Disturbed put urgency into it, the plea and warning expressed much stronger...idk how a person could listen to this and not get the message.
This is such a powerful song, thank you for not interrupting the video to make a comment.
Have heard this version 20 times or more. I still get goosebumps
Thank you for listening to the whole song then commenting
It’s hard not to like this better than the original. From a 64 year old
I just took my 10 year old nephew to see them in Biloxi MS 2/24/24! He has been a fan since he was 3 and Sound of Silence his FAVORITE SONG EVER! Watching his reaction to seeing it live was a priceless memory!!❤❤❤ they are INCREDIBLE
I grew up hearing the Simon and Garfunkel version -- one of my favorite songs ever -- but Disturbed took this song to a new -- and BETTER -- level! David Craiman's vocals (hope I spelled that right) gave a gravitas and darkness to the song's lyrics that S&G's version lacked. Could listen/watch this Disturbed's video over and over again (and I have!!)!
This song never fails to give me chills 🥺
Disturbed the main guy did a interview and talked about how this song was so difficult to do a cover of and how much time they put in to it and that it was just insane the amounts of work just to give the song the justices it deserved .......and no disturbed is a huge well known band in smash rock or punk or head banger stuff or what ever they call it today ....and have many fantastic songs all there own and this cover was kind of a one off and really connected the bad to allot of people that well generally do not listened to there kind of everyday music ..but in there world they are one of the top $ bringers
Literally the best cover ever, prolly better than the original version Id say, and thats something.
Your reaction and analysis at the end was spot on! Great song, great lyrics, both the original and the cover
Newest video DISTURBED'S
DON'T TELL ME with Ann Wilson of HEART
This song goes down in your very soul.
You looked liked you enjoyed it. Love disturbed. You are adorable btw😮
Try “Down with the Sickness” by Disturbed. It will blow your mind.
You did the best review yet, thank you!!! Just subscribed!
G'day 😊another great strong singer is Dan Vass, WOW💜
Disturbed likes to mix a cover or two into most of their albums. Lead singer David Draiman has a fantastic voice in general, but especially for metal. This is one is the best covers I’ve heard, but they have some other kick ass ones.
Great reaction. No interruptions. Good insight.
Disturbed is awesome. I’m down with the sickness!!!!!!! Love them love this rendition. It shows how good he really is
I think the first reaction video where the song wasn't interrupted. I enjoyed your reaction. Cheers
So the song itself is almost prophetic. Today we are attached to our "neon gods" aka phones. We communicate without speaking or listening.
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😎thank you for being real!
Anytime a cover is better than the original it's an achievement, and if there's one better than this, I can't think of it. I once heard someone say that the original was a gentle warning of things to come and this is the rage that the warning wasn't heeded.
This cover and Johnny Cash's cover of nine inch nails song "hurt" are my absolute favorite covers. ❤
paul simon said that this is now a disturbed song. no higher praise. and the singer for disturbed has been a cantor in his synagogue.. so yeah, chops.
The best version, his voice is amazing❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Love your reaction! Best cover ever. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
Disturbed is not a cover band at all. They are a hard rock band for the most part; and amazing at that. This was a complete departure from their normal fare but also a showcase for David Dramon's voice and the band's versatitlity. I love seeing reactions to this song in particular because it's an old 70s song and noone expects a hard rock band like Disturbed to tackle it. Moreover, they don't expect this cover to be better than the original (which IMHO) it is; or maybe I should say updated or more relevant. The lyrics and sentiment certainly transcend the decades since the original song was written and still apply today.
Dan also has his own band called " Fearless". I believe he has one of the BEST Metal scream. Dan got the harmonica from his dad 2 wks before he died, he released this video 3 days after his dad died. R.I.P
Awesome reaction of a great cover. Thanks
Fuqing amazing!!!!!!×
Saw 2 of ur reactions, subscribed with the last one "Who's on First"...like variety...this is my 3rd one, better be good...lol
Excellent reaction!! You have a new subscriber here!
the live tv version will blow you away... the live performance had more power
'Is Disturbed a cover band?' OH GOD, I'M OLD
If you want the crazy song that he normally sings in it Down with the sickness.
Paul Simon said this is his favorite version!!! They generally do 1 cover per album
Get ready for a religious experience! Shakes my very soul! ❤
This song and the Bad Wolves cover of Zombie are by far my 2 favorite covers
Through a once-over of the song, I’ve glad you’ve enjoyed it, mate. I hope in future you can respond and react more in depth to this. Keep up the good work.
You should check out their performance on Conan. He was actual sick in it, but you would never know it.
Pentatonix...cover of Sound of Silence . Is a must hear. 🔥🎵🎶 PEACE ✌️
Great song. U need to listen to dimash kudiabergan he is the best singer in the world. Listen to SOS or Stranger first you will be hooked 😊😊
1967 Simon and Garfunkel original singers of that song. ❤
A respectful reaction, too often I see reaction videos where they interrupt the songs they're reacting too.
Instant #ChickenSkin !! 😳
(Goosebumps)
Another Top Notch Cover is a Cover of the Commodores` "Easy"! The Band Faith No More Covered it and its over the Top. In Fact, There are only 2 people known to have a 6 Octave Vocal Range, one is Mariah Carey and the other is Mike Patton from Faith No More!
You need to go listen to another metal singer Dan Vasc singing, amazing grace
It will blow your mind
There is a you tube video of this done as a tribute to 9/11. The music is the same, but the photos are so heartbreaking. I watch it every year and still cry. Please do a reaction to that or at least watch it for yourself. Thank you!
They are an intense metal band normally.
For another one on their less metal side, try their Hold On To Memories.
i think they do one cover per album
Great cover. Another cover I think is better than the original is the aussie icon John Farnham cover of the Beatles song help. Look for the live version with the Melboune Symphony Orchestra, actually anything he does is great, but live versions are best.
I cant stand covers, but this and metallica actually honored the originals.
The live version on the Conan show is even better & well worth a listen to
But, no, they are not a cover band, but they do covers in their own way. They really pay respect to the originals or do even better.
Please watch the "Conan" live version
Love this cover. I'm l more connected to the original. Both give me very emotional feelings.
❤😊
the Live version on Conan is even better
If you want to see a great Disturbed original check out "Stupify".
When I first heard this cover I was speechless, check out the remix by CYRIL thank me later 🙏

Listen to the same song acapella!!!! It's even better!!!!
Watch this live Conan show
The group "Pentatonix " did a great job with this song!
I BELIEVE I KNOW THE TRUE MEANING OF THIS SONG 🎧 AND WHO WAS IT MENT FOR, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW I WILL TRY TO EXPLAIN 😊
Do DISTURBED'S STUPIFY THE LIGHT... VENGEFUL ONE... PRAYER... SHOUT 2000 LIVE... REASON TO FIGHT... BAD MAN... ARE YOU READY... HEY YOU... LAND OF CONFUSION... HOLD ON TO MEMORIES
Check out the Live version of Disturbed version on the conan show. Its even better than this one. This one is great, the live version is AMAZING! Paul Simon loved it.
My ears are bleeding.
It's crazy how just how a song is sung affects ya.... The original by Simon and Garfunkel is pure, Pentatonix did it and it was emotional.... Disturbed did it and it made me think of God and good vs. evil... people warning us of what is to come if we don't change and then the eventual coming together after the defeat. I LOVE all versions but this one touches me on another level considering our current circumstance #TRUMP2024
I prefer Simon and Garfunkel, but i still love this version
