I'm super glad you're not shying away from including the match fixing players in your history videos. History is often ugly, but It would be wrong to try and misrepresent the history and only show the nice bits.
From what i remember was translated on the TL forums back in the day (may not be fully accurate) before this finals, Savior had declared ZvP “solved” and primarily was focused on improving his ZvT. Bisu went on an overseas vacation with his team the week before the finals, leading some posters to speculate that he had already assumed he was going to lose. He may or may not have said that he was already prepared for the finals before leaving.
I was cleaning out the loft above my parents barn a few months ago, and I found one of my old burned CD's, I had written VOD's #3 on it, and it turned out it was a bunch of old SlayerS_'BoxeR' games from 2001-2002 complete with Korean commentary, and I suddenly remember I used to download and watch all these games from a webpage back then, I just remember it being a white background and a long, long list of games to download. I wish I could find VOD's #1 and 2 as well, and maybe more, I don't remember how many CD's I burned, but I do remember being obsessed and watching everything I could find, always with Korean commentary, I did not understand why anyone would want English commentary back then, nor do I know if it was even available, I just thought it was so entertaining listening to the Koreans yell "Plaguga!!!" instead, even though I understood nothing about what was being said, their energy was infectious. Good times.
Please show and review early Nal_rA's fast expo games since he was one of the first ones to come up with the idea and implement it on the Proleague/OSL/MSL level. Loving these so far. Cheers!
I do the same thing for gaming and typing. It's v useful since it sets up your hand in a way you can just slide your thumb left or right to hit alt or space while your pinky is hovering over caps and shift
Thanks for listening to our suggestions tasteless!! For the next suggestion, i dont know if there's a vod for this but the original Soulkey vs H.O.T Forever where terran bio was introduced to be a force to be reckoned with. It was called the SK Terran back then. Like the Bisu Build, this also revolutionized the Terran playstyle forever.
I remember Day9 talking about this in one of his stream highlight videos. Now big bro Tasteless comes in with the actual game plus commentary. It's great to actually see how the game played out and it's honestly just as amazing as when Day9 told it.
This History series is amazing. One of my favorite moments from SC history was Jinro's run in GSL, was waking up at 5 in the morning to watch with a few friends on TeamSpeak.
You can do the review of Draco's legendary WCG 2006 run too. Always loved your Draco (P) vs (T) Midas @ Gaia game cast from that tournament's group stage :D
I remember this savior vs bisu series. Protoss always seemed like the underdog race to me back then. After this series, bisu was my favorite player ever since
As someone that loved SC1 at that time and played avidly, but did not follow the Korean scene, I would love it if you did a long history video (or series) on the match fixing scandals.
I'd love a deep dive on Savior. He was one of my favorite players back in the day and I was surprised to come back to BW after a long absence and learn about all of this
The crazy part was that in game 1 and/or game 2 Bisu had already killed him with the Corsair/DT combo, this game Savior knew what was coming and still couldnt figure anything against it.
The pinky knuckle ctrl key thing is mind blowing to me. I haven't been this dumbfounded by a keyboard hack since I learned about putting your spacebar key upside down to have it tilt a more thumb friendly angle.
I remember watching this series live in college at like 2am in a lecture hall and being totally floored by Bisu's dismantling of everything I thought I knew about PvZ. This was just after sAviOr crushed NaDa in the OSL and I don't think anybody expected Bisu to look so dominant against one of the best players in the world at the time. It's wild to think I was watching history get written in real time back then.
Brings back memories of staying up late during college to watch live games where the resolution was awful. Hard to overstate how much this series changed Starcraft. It wasn't just that Bisu won, he ran over Savior in a truck going 100 mph. It had been 3 years since a Protoss player had won a Starleague. Savior got utterly dismantled in this series, and he was never the same again.
4:40 this is the main reason i fell out of playing broodwar. i used to doing control group with pinky but have grown to dislike it as i need to look at my keyboard to do so that method isnt competitive method for me. have tried to using the handle but not comfortable with that either. luckily i fell out of hard gaming in general so i dont need to put the effort into learning that stuff anyways
I remember back days OSL finals Stork vs terran. BO5 and it was 5th game. Camera showed Stork and sweat drop was on his nose. Would be interesting to know about tension during finals of different leagues and about health care in pro gaming. Practice houses of teams and wrist injuries of pros. And big thanks to Tasteless for his great job.
I respect you having the guts to talk about players other won't. It was an event in history and pretending it didn't happen doesn't actually make it go away
Hey Mate, really enjoying these Starcraft History videos. If you do decide to make one about the match fixing that has happened in Starcraft 1 and 2 that would be good. To not only hear your thoughts but also get a better understanding. Loving the content, keep up the awesome work.
Savior was sooooOooOoOooooo good. He was basically as dominant, or even more, than Flash. The problem is it was very short lived. His big secret was that he practiced Terran to learn what Zerg did that was annoying.
History of maps if able please. How and when did the reverse ramp happen? Island maps ever? What specifically about the old maps made them imbalanced or not feasible?
Thank you Tasteless for analyzing the game that shocked the world (although a toss player like you myself, i just thought that there was no way a relatively no-name player (at the time, of course) would beat savior in a BO5, let alone PvZ, the saddest matchup there was for protoss), savior would 3-0 this dude. Man, were we in for a ride!
Love these type of videos! Keep it up! I still believe you should cover some of saviors old matched because he is still part of bw history and was extremely dominant at one point in time. What a shame what happened though…
Match fixing = you throw a game, but you have bet on yourself losing? Great piece of history! Bisu and Stork seemed so impressive to me at the time to me. Could never understand how they manage to survive and get the Nexus in..
Please please please do a video about matchfixing in SC1 and SC2. Double points if you talk about the issue with progamers taking Ritalin for performance.
Amazing these videos exist at all, even if in 144p lol. Nostalgic. You can hear nerdy girls screaming their heart out, like if the biggest band was playing. SC1 was something else!
I'd super appreciate a video about match fixing because i dont even know what that is 😅 Is it like when smash players cheat with the tournament seeding?
I tend to disagree with Tasteless when it comes 'canceling' match fixers like Savior and Life and not mentioning them. You need to keep talking about them so that we keep reminding ourselves how bad match fixing is and learn from their mistakes. We haven't stopped talking about the horrible deeds the Nazis did in the past or the gulags in the soviet union. I'm not trying to call savior or Life nazis, my point is that if we don't talk about history that we're doomed to repeat it. Don't risk your career by match fixing. It isn't worth it.
Please talk about match fixing and how it affected the game. I literally had no idea this ever happened am just annoyed with you and censor focused individuals for being silent on this now 😂
Love the history replays. Who cares about showing cheaters. Savior was a great player. So he cheated and got banned, rightly so, but he had real games before that. No reason to ever delete anything from history.
It sucks that people act like Savior can never be forgiven. I think 10+ years is enough. A permanent ban and stigma insinuates that people cannot grow or fix their mistakes. I personally think he should be allowed back into the scene. He did the crime, he's paid the time, and money, it's time to move on
Bleaching history to remove persons or things that are distasteful... That's so counter to a core premise of history, learning from the past to avoid repeating mistakes. Very Stalin-esque to dissappear people and the meaning of their lives.
I'm super glad you're not shying away from including the match fixing players in your history videos. History is often ugly, but It would be wrong to try and misrepresent the history and only show the nice bits.
Love these history of sc type videos

Good times.
Upload them for posterity 😊
Plaguuuuuuu
RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH RIBUH !!!
Upload reps!
the still up nevake youtube channel has lots of old VODs, bascially everything from the broodwar liquipedia links there.
It’s really cool to watch the actually matches after watching Day9’s highlight about the meta shifting for PvZ
Please show and review early Nal_rA's fast expo games since he was one of the first ones to come up with the idea and implement it on the Proleague/OSL/MSL level. Loving these so far. Cheers!
Watching this live when there is school the next day was certainly wild. Glad I witnessed history.
For me, probably the most memorable game of SC. So many games I will never forget. Movie's Carrier swap vs. Flash is another great one.
I do the same thing for gaming and typing. It's v useful since it sets up your hand in a way you can just slide your thumb left or right to hit alt or space while your pinky is hovering over caps and shift

Bisu was a genius and I am a fan of Bisu. Thank you for these replays. Pure gold again!!!!
I had so much fun playing this map with friends. Great times

I remember this savior vs bisu series. Protoss always seemed like the underdog race to me back then. After this series, bisu was my favorite player ever since
Damn time flies. I remember the discussions about this in 2017 (10 years on, just before remastered). How is it already another 7 years???
As someone that loved SC1 at that time and played avidly, but did not follow the Korean scene, I would love it if you did a long history video (or series) on the match fixing scandals.

The pinky knuckle ctrl key thing is mind blowing to me. I haven't been this dumbfounded by a keyboard hack since I learned about putting your spacebar key upside down to have it tilt a more thumb friendly angle.
I use the hand-edge for ctrl, and I didn't remove my windows key. I think it depends on the keyboard.
I remember watching this series live in college at like 2am in a lecture hall and being totally floored by Bisu's dismantling of everything I thought I knew about PvZ. I remember this like it was yesterday. I love it so much. Thank you for revisiting this
4:40 this is the main reason i fell out of playing broodwar. i used to doing control group with pinky but have grown to dislike it as i need to look at my keyboard to do so that method isnt competitive method for me. have tried to using the handle but not comfortable with that either. luckily i fell out of hard gaming in general so i dont need to put the effort into learning that stuff anyways
I love these starcraft history videos. Thanks for making them!
History videos would really benefit from mentioning when they were played. Appreciate them though!
I remember back days OSL finals Stork vs terran. BO5 and it was 5th game. Camera showed Stork and sweat drop was on his nose.

thank you for that small part at the intro, you worded it very well and it really put a blemish on SC scene. Enjoyed the vid!
i really enjoy starcraft in this pixel quality, nice vid dude
In a few more years games like this will become myths and legends. 🤣 hopefully StarCraft sticks around for the next 20 years to come.
11:50 -- *INSANE* Overlord detection range... !! :O
This series was such a hype. Bisus corsair reaver was superb also. He earned his name there.
Hey Mate, really enjoying these Starcraft History videos. If you do decide to make one about the match fixing that has happened in Starcraft 1 and 2 that would be good. To not only hear your thoughts but also get a better understanding.
Loving the content, keep up the awesome work.
Its ok to talk about savior and life, they part of sc history and they 2 of the best zerg ever.
The Golden Age arc
Adore these history clips. Thanks for doing this.
Savior was sooooOooOoOooooo good. He was basically as dominant, or even more, than Flash. The problem is it was very short lived. His big secret was that he practiced Terran to learn what Zerg did that was annoying.
also personal interactions with particular players are interesting
So....its really been over 20 years, and there really is people out there who dont know the story. im old bro
Been waiting for this one and it didn’t disappoint
it would be awesome to see a review/breakdown of the firebathero vs Savior game on Python from back in the day.
History of maps if able please. How and when did the reverse ramp happen? Island maps ever? What specifically about the old maps made them imbalanced or not feasible?
Omg, Tasteless I love your timelines.
Savior is the best zerg of all time in SC 1 in my opinion
Love these type of videos! Keep it up!
I still believe you should cover some of saviors old matched because he is still part of bw history and was extremely dominant at one point in time. What a shame what happened though…
Savior was a Bonjwa. No way Tasteless is skipping over him.
more of this tasteless... MOAR!!!!!!!
Every time Tasteless says "So you can see-..." in this video, I think "No I can't."
please do one for julyzerg
Match fixing = you throw a game, but you have bet on yourself losing?
Great piece of history! Bisu and Stork seemed so impressive to me at the time to me. Could never understand how they manage to survive and get the Nexus in..
i love bisu ♥
Can someone explain why no spore colony is built?
He knew he would lose so might as well ended it faster
Please please please do a video about matchfixing in SC1 and SC2. Double points if you talk about the issue with progamers taking Ritalin for performance.
I wonder if savior was realizing in the middle of the game that the ZvP matchup was forever being changed right then.
Random request, but if its possible can we have a history check on how Jaedong became the Tyrant
great videos tasteless - absolutely love your content.
Ah yes papa tassels tucking me in and telling my starcraft stories of old.
Would love to see more of these history videos. BW4EVER!
Been loving these history episodes, would be interested in a video on match fixing
Amazing these videos exist at all, even if in 144p lol. Nostalgic. You can hear nerdy girls screaming their heart out, like if the biggest band was playing. SC1 was something else!
Great video. Yes to all of the match fixing stuff -- bring us the tasseltea!
so we got Flash covered, now Bisu, so 3rd one will be Jaedong?:) and later Stork?
I'm just here to recognize the badass thumbnail.
Love these vids! Do you plan on doing any Starcraft 2 history? I missed everything before LotV
Great vid. Keep it up Tasteless
It's always the Zerg players that are sus
Because its hardest race to play
I just found ur channel and im binging bruh keep going
very interesting. keep these coming!
Didn’t that one guy Day9 make a video about this a while back too? That’s a crazy similarity you guys should totally hang out sometime or somethin lol
These history lessons are great
time to go through Flash 6 finals in a row
I wonder if Blizzard ever thought of patching the game to fix PvZ before Bisu.
They would have certainly done it in SC2.
that feeling when the quality is bellow 88p
Been waiting for this, awesome!
I'd super appreciate a video about match fixing because i dont even know what that is 😅
Is it like when smash players cheat with the tournament seeding?
I was a HUGE Nal_rA fan at the time and Bisu destroyed him. I didn’t like him at first until I saw him vs Savior. What a crazy MSL
P is facing an existential crisis today against Z again, lol
What do you mean? In BW or SC2? I don't play anymore, so I'm not as locked in as I was in my youth.
Is it though?
When I see Snow, Mini, Best and Bisu destroying the best Zergs consistently in KCM, it doesn't feel that way.
@@yyyy-uv3po You probably know more about it than me, but my impression is that in today's meta, Z is in a really, really good place against P.
@@andrewadami3920 BW definitely. I haven't cared for SC2 in a loooong time.
i like these history videos
It’s sad he did match fixing, because he was an amazing talent
Hi Geldart!! Hi Nic_Dizzlle!!
cool beans
Uff that footage quality is rough
Amazing!
I need to find my old vacuum tube monitor to watch this video.
Wow

what was that match fixing scandal about?
neato
Please talk about match fixing and how it affected the game. I literally had no idea this ever happened am just annoyed with you and censor focused individuals for being silent on this now 😂
You should do AI upscaling for these old videos. I think a few hours of self education would pay dividends

A Standart game in 2001 in germaby .... what is this American Talking about
why don't you pay someone on fiver to sharpen and increase the quality of the video with a.i.?
Shouldn't it be possible to AI-scale this video to remaster?
I tune in just to watch the original Archon, reaver, observer kill animations.
possible, yes probably. do we have the tools ready to one-xlick it? no
Bleaching history to remove persons or things that are distasteful...
That's so counter to a core premise of history, learning from the past to avoid repeating mistakes.
Very Stalin-esque to dissappear people and the meaning of their lives.
Trying to watch the gameplay made my eyes hurt
Protoss victory, seen it jus fine
the blue stuff killed the red stuff
Back in the day that's what it was. Video quality and SC remastered has improved it a lot.
Remember there was a time when all we had was the replay files. VODs took so long to download.
Zoomer spotted. I can easily tell everything that's going on. Years of training hehe.
