I just want to say man, I remember watching you cast the gomtv averatec-intel classic seasons 1 through 3 way, way back in the day, and it's almost incredible how impactful those vods were on my entire childhood, i must have watched the grand finals of season 1 like a hundred times when you first popped up on my youtube feed it was such a huge wave of nostalgia, i hadn't thought about broodwar for over a decade and if not for the algorithm i might have gone the rest of my life without ever thinking about it again i am so glad that didn't happen. instead i've spent the past few days watching competitive broodwar casted by fucking nick tasteless plott like it's the mid 2000s, and i am loving it thank you so much for all the joy you've brought into my life
This is really interesting! Would love to see more StarCraft history content. As someone who know next to nothing of what happened pre-sc2, it would be great to have a chronological history.
Theres something about brood war that makes me so nostalgic and happy. Doesnt happen when I look at remastered. Just the big fuzzy pixels of brood war.
Romaninan here, i remember watching this games with korean commentary, understanding almost nothing of the game or what they were saying, but it was soooo much fun. love this series!
overlay is obscuring the mini map for these videos which isnt the end of the world. Sometimes during the stream the TTS blocks the map while you are playing too
JulyZerg was one of my favorite players. His victory against Best in the 2008 Ever finals was so entertaining. I mean, it was a 3-0, but all three games were entertaining - well maybe not so much for Best fans.
Love vids like this man! I remember being a kid and watching videos like this because there wasn't many ways to watch pro SC. I also miss the old player intro's with the epic music that just set the mood, lights were on point, etc. Thanks for doing these! Nostalgia is great, and its cool to know all of this info.
the overlord pathing was actually completely standard. on LT, knowing if they are the short rush distance is pretty necessary. also, getting the 2nd overlord to their natural is kind of free due to the corner island setup not being reachable by early marines.
So interesting. This is what makes me love SC1 the most. The mindgames. It's funny how the developers say the game came to be as it is today by chance. They "threw stuff to the wall and saw what stuck"
Yes 2 raks was definitely the standard, the name "Fast expansion" exist because expanding like we do nowadays was considered "fast" and somewhat risky or maybe even cheesy, otherwise they would have called it "Standard Expansion" or standard game or no name at all
Tasteless this is pure gold. I've been groving up on OGN and MBC events :) Check Darkelf vs iloveoov, where 20+ factories vs 3 or 4 lost a game. Monty Hall i guess
I really love those Historic reviews of games. I am fascinated with the history of starcraft and how deep this game was and is. its similar to Poker: the game was so much different 20 years ago
As a newer player/spectator I would love a video where you revisit these older maps and talk about the history of BW map design. What made the base maps so bad, what early customs tried to do and how knowledge of design grew to what it was today. Hell even just you simply loading up these old base/early customs and riffing on how unplayable they'd be today would be awesome!
Did Flash have a defining TV-moment? When did people begin to realize that he was quite the gamer at the starcraft? A video on that topic would be awesome
Yes actually 2 games both flash vs Bisu. The more notable one is April 8 2012, this was pretty much the final game before all players would move over to sc2. It is game 5 ace match played on neo chain. One of the crazy games and the timing couldn't be more perfect. Won't spoil. The 2nd game, was around june 29 2007 OSL the map is Duam. flash does an interesting cheese on a no rush map that's blocked off by mineral patches. The problem was there's 2 mineral lines, so you have to mine out both to attack the opponent. Flash jumps a few scvs over his mineral line then builds a gas refinery, mines bisus mineral wall, drops the minerals with a gas swap trick to make a hole and attack
@@andronis6452 for game 1, youtube search this "flash vs Bisu April 8 2012" I recommend watching the eng sub one. should be first result for 2nd game search "Flash v. Bisu Duam OSL June 29" game is only 4:27, but the smartest cheese ive seen.
That was the best fakeout i've ever seen. So bold, and perfectly capitalizing on a really quite niche set of circumstances. Do we know if this was planned? It looked adhoc
Hey tasteless this was a cool idea for a video , neat moments like this and having the insight you do to explain why they are special is awesome , thanks
What the actual heck?? I was _literally_ thinking about this game last night (though I couldn't remember the players involved), and here it is. Cue Twilight Zone music...
What this would look like in today’s meta would be a barracks place on the position where the cc should be, that has happened a few times in asl, sometimes worked sometimes didnt
more of this Nick! Its amazing watching these stuff. I was able to watch the matches from way back when from a porn cable channel of all places but never understood what was happening
Hey Tasteless - when you do these casts, is there any chance you could mmove your banner with social media to the top? you covered up a lot of the minimap of the game, unfortunately
I love seeing these pivotal starcraft moments broken down play by play. Please do more.
Fun Fact: Casy is also one of the only Terrans to have at one point have a 5-0 record against Jaedong.
Not to brag, but i think i could do 0-5 against JD 😎
@@CompletelyRandomNickI believe you completely. Jaedong washed as hell ngl.
@@AnimeFan-wd5pq chill!!

Yes, more of this, please. Thank you Tastie.
These are great -- would love an episode on Boxer vs the blind player 🙂

Top tier blissful nostalgia and fuckin absolutely lit storylines
the one two punch of hurting the overlord and faking th scvs was so sweet

Now we're up to decent quality vods for that era.
Love these classic highlights, keep them coming :)
JulyZerg was a Killer in his days!! But this faking of natural base was smart on another level...
Love this. More reviews of kespa era matches!
Can’t believe that was already 10 years into sc1
This was fantastic Nick, great way for folks that loved the sc2 era to connect with the rich history of SC1BW
Looking forward to more history highlights!

that was SUPER clever. Mind games get outdated but damn that was such a smart play.
Lack of Korean audio really didn’t do this justice although tasteless explains it well. One of the best mind games of all time!
Thanks for sharing this awesome game and awesome piece of Starcraft history!
I remeber doing stuff like this to kids and they were so mad. So much rage lol
would love discussion videos on your favorite moments in pro SC, big brain moves
I thought the intro was very skateboard style then dudes on a skateboard lmao
Please continue with the old gems commentary!
Looking forward to Bisu build vs Savior
Could you put that banner on the right side so we see the minimap?
This is the kinda series I definitely needed
Tasteless, watching an old dated game: "This is an old dated build 🤔"
Damn this is a cool segment you should definitely lean into this historian thing
literally the Fog of War win
story time with the worlds sexiest caster
are their still TV channels dedicated entirely to SC in S. Korea today?
Hey Tasteless! I voted for/nominated you for the streamer awards! Thanks for the content
Man, I wish the name/links weren't blocking the minimap.
I really wish your social plugs wouldnt be covering the map.. quite frustrating not being able to see half of it
6:25 this the real Artosis Pylon 💎🤣🍑
Really like these videos, hate the overlay over the minimap
starcraft history is an amazing video idea/format
Crazy deception, I would easily see Flash doing a move like this
Yes, amazing video, more :)
just by looking at the title, i knew what was coming :)
legendary fakeout
What was the date of this match?
He was probably thinking, this MF is cheating until he saw the replay and was like, ohhhhhhh
Love these Starcraft history videos! Cool game
are these videos here on youtube?
You gonna cast any of Sean's old games?
Casey’s immortal game
Boxer didnt a similar thing but lost against NCYellow. He flooted his main cc to his natural and rax i middle i think.
JulyZerg is a cool name to go by.

I was hoping this was Bisu v [NC]YellOw
I love this kind of content!

cool game and great analysis, thanks!
