Can we please have the history video of the Artosis Pylon
That's sc2 history tbf
I would also like this too lol
the incontrol pylon!!! 😂
Starcraft 2, artosis played P and his one pylon powered multiple buildings however incontrol did this more... But it doesn't matter. Artosis did it in a tournament.
@@Raithed I’ve only ever heard it referred to as the “Artosis Pylon”
The really hard part about it is that Pokju immediately stopped playing after this loss, really hit him hard.
is that actually true :( man it was a new strategy. probably most good players would have lost
@@gratler Yes, it's true. He retired shortly after this game.
It's such a shame, but it happens sometimes in top sports. A high calibre player loses badly to someone, or loses to a newbie, then soon they retire. Then many years later, that newbie has become one of the goats. Proves how emotions can cloud judgement.
One of the great exceptions was Federer, he kept pushing and pushing and pushing until it REALLY made no sense anymore.
@@n1te its true. I am a big Federer fan so i can confirm what you say is true. not many would have continued after the kind of career he had. it takes real love of the sport to continue not winning slams after having dominated like nobody else before. imagine what it must feel like. when he won 3 more slams in 17-18 i almost cried a couple times so happy i was for him. biggest legend of the game. anyway sorry for turning this starcraft discussion into a Tennis discussion :)
@@gratler ~Djokovic is much better
It's crazy how intense BW became execution wise, it's almost like watching one of those ridiculous any% speedruns with a ton of frame perfect inputs, but then add another person trying to screw you over the whole time.
Bisu pioneered the forge fast expansion against Zerg. He also was a beast at making Corsair Reaver/Corsair DTs against Zerg.
Dude single-handedly pioneered PvZ matchup.
Overhyping a strategy that wasn't a mainstay, just more of a surprise that wound up being easily managed and since has been forgotten. Forge FE for sure give him a ton of credit. But the sair reaver/dt combos are equal to the guardian hydra rush zergs were doing a while back. A fad until it was solved and at best a shocking surprise play.
Sair reaver is still used successfully at the highest levels of the game.
No it isn't still used lmfao please link a me 5 ASL matches over the past 7 years even where it was used. You might be able to find one, because I do recall someone trying it and getting stomped a few years back, but outside of that nobody uses it anymore because it was solved and easily defeated. @@liamgabrielhoskins1434
Hmm.. pioneered isn't the right word. FFE was a thing before the Bisu build. What he did was introduce "principles" that made fast expand vs zerg the standard build vs zerg.
Such principles include the scout timings, cannon timings, sim city, how to delay zerg through harassment efficiently. The original Bisu build was figured out quickly. It required too much multitasking to be effective. Tons of FFE builds became viable with few adjustments after he showcased the original Bisu build.
The Neo Bisu Build, however, that is the shit! That thing stayed forever until ASL came and gave a new platform to evolve the strategies post Kespa. I dont think Zerg figured it out for years and just bashed heads with it using 3 hatch spire to 5 hatch hydra.
I absolutely LOVE this idea of covering historic plays! Hoping you will continue this!
Been really enjoying the history and techniques of Brood War like these
the puffy-jacket bleached-hair Bisu was like a living god , but i don't see many clips of it surviving anymore. the old show format was hype and it was the first esports i ever saw streamed.
Your history content is my favorite stuff you produce
Sc history is exactly what i always wanted to see
Really loving these history videos!
Love the oldies. I feel like if you pull your probes and kill Bisu's probe a little after he puts down the first gateway the games over. All of a sudden Bisu would have zero buildings just as your gate is halfway done.
god i used to love cholera and rise's casts.
These newer videos deep diving the history of starcraft are awesome. I hope to see your youtube channel start growing faster
History of great games is always cool to see!
This was insanely clever. What a game
I remeber Getting into the scene around this time.
My buddy and me would watch choleraSC and moletrap and diggity.
My buddy was a Bisu fan boy and played protoss. I rooted for stork.
Bisu has more style and flair. And creative aggression. But I will still maintain that stork rivaled, if not surpassed bisu by the launch of sc2.
But I'm very biased 😂.
Keep the SC history coming! It's been fun rewatching games from my youth that I still remember watching live and not understanding a work of korean.
Really cool, first time seeing anything about this specifically. Nice one Tasteless!
Love how you break down the evolution of the meta
'In your face' rush. It's really counterintuitive how much threat it poses despite the amount of mining time lost by Bisu.
Love revisiting these old games. Also I dont enjoy being that guy, but unless you had to repeat like 5 years you were not in "early highschool" in 2007
4:58 manner pylon like “bad manner” as in doing this is bad manners. Makes sense
Artosis: Why is there space behind by mineral line? WHY
Oh man, CholeraSC
You know, these games will become hard to find pretty soon, especially for people who can't read Korean. I'm sure Cholera wasn't Tasteless's first choice (even though I love him), so he was probably the best-quality video he could find of this game. The replays themselves were long considered property of KeSPA, so they might be tough to find these days. I hope classic games aren't lost and our best evidence of the prehistoric era is Tasteless recording over Cholera recording over an unknown Korea commentator over the game itself.
Enjoying the history/context videos!
I would love to hear the casters reactions when we see these things
love this new series you're doing
Really love these history videos! Great stuff!
The map name is "Peaks of Baekdu" for anyone interested.
Insane, peak Bisu play, so frustrating to lose to this on ladder, but imagine if you get cheesed on national TV at pro level..
A warcraft 3 equivalent to this game would be Tod being bloodcastled by Moon.
im lovein these starcraft historys
I remember this game. thanks for taking us down memory lane!
Loving these history of sc videos, keep it up!
Can we please have the history of the spider people?
amazing analysis of a wonderful game, this is like History Channel on Alexander's conquests lol, thanks
Honestly, the haircuts is probably the strongest part of this video. Love it!
History videos always great to watch
Cool game. I remember at the time Bisu was doing well at Starleagues but floundering at team leagues. But this was a nice team league win in the midst of that
That spawn position was perfect for that strategy a double hex manner pylon. Plus gateways behind the minerals blocking 6 patches on the back side. If that map was in ASL we would still see that strategy in my opinion they fixed the maps to make a play like that not as strong and that's why we don't see it anymore not because they are to skilled to fall for it.
Great vid!
Appreciate the explanation of manner
Loving the history vids
Thanks for explaining what manner pylon was , been wondering for long time :)
Actually the way Koreans use the word manner in the case of Manner Pylonn is spot on because manner means also the way one behaves.
Manner can stand for having manners, as in good manners or bad manners.
In this case a Manner Pylon stands for bad manner.
did tasteless appear on the starcraft history channel on YT and just steam the entire idea? xD
pure gold again!!!! I didn't know this strategy. Great video!!!! Like
YESSSS NIRE STARCRAFT HISTORY
Love the sc bw lore would love to see more
Anyone try AI upscaling these old videos?
In hindsight, wouldn't forge be the correct defence here?
Might be an unpopular opinion, but i'd love to see more Savior games. Yes, he did some bad things but when it comes to the actual gameplay i think he was the greatest player of all time.
When is the video on the Bisu build (Corsairs vs Zerg)?
It was Corsair dt but if you can find, watch old school nalra replies where he pvz and you get very similar build to bisu.
@@Raithed Yes, I want to see Tasteless do a video on it!!
8:07 Never pause a Disney Movie 🤣📸
🤣 didn't hear the old term pimpest play for ever. God I miss our youth.
more more more more more we want
Love it!!
This is really cool content; thank you, Tasteless! Although react content is fine; I especially appreciate when the whole thing is your insight, like in this video.
Good stuff :)
watch my mouse WATCH MY MOUSE
I remember this game. My 14 year old comments are still on the original video
Manner game
AI would figure out this and 1000 other unknown starts in a few days of simulation.
love it
So BW did not have custom keybinds back then right? I feel like that point should be emphasized much more
I wonder if it would be possible to get these replays somehow, so you could circumvent the bad quality of the youtube uploads? It'd be more work (searching the replay, being the observer), but it may worth it for the crisp quality.
Why not just build a forge? It builds faster and the cannon can easily deny this rush.
'Manner' pylon because it is bad manners to do it
Man was it really that blurry back then? This has to be a different resolution than original or something
Brisu Lee
They use "service" too to mean freebie in Japanese. Those kinds of words are called "Wasei eigo" which just means "English made in Japan."
Pimpest plays 😂
Manner just means bad manners as i understand it, like not being polite, which is disrespectful. I don't think it's a misused word here, if that's the word they use.
Couldn't "manner" just be a shortened "bad manner"? Basically just calling that pylon BM, which is totally accurate.
Pimpest 😂😂😂😂
Anyone try upscaling these videos via AI?
the holy scripture
Gosu moments
Some ayur 💩
Manner exists in english as well. When talking about dinner etiquette, or overall presentation. Bad manners is when you are being rude or uncanny.
You didn't understand what he was saying.
INFURIATING that you paused so much and made a 5m game take 16m, I just wanted to see it in real time and kept going "STOP FUCKING PAUSING IT MAN WE GET IT!!!" but some people appreciate the slower explanations...
Some feedback: Too much talking while pausing. Let the video run ("breathe") and highlight what's important.
Is tasteless gay?
Honestly. I can't watch this videos. The very idea is great, but Tasteless really screws this up with his constant pausing and explaining obvious things like we are new to the game. Dude, we watch BW content because we played this game for over a decade. So, like, we know what lost mining time is, and we know that you start game with 4 probes. What's next, are you gonna explain to us what is the idea of rush for 10 minutes?
Should have been a 5 min video
Bra, less pausing. Your like the dude that starts telling a story while he's holding the bong.
Nah shaddup
