  • Originally, the only real stars of "MythBusters" were hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, but as the show went on, viewers were introduced to the Build Team: Kari Byron, Tori Belleci, and Grant Imahara. While Imahara may not have had the over-the-top personality of his co-stars, he probably had the most experience in both robotics and in the entertainment industry. Imahara helped operate two of the most iconic characters in the "Star Wars" franchise -- and he even helped Craig Ferguson get a sidekick on his late-night talk show. Let’s take a look at the untold truth of Grant Imahara from "MythBusters."

@@spookytimescaryvideos4395 what’s wrong with you? I am Asian American and grew up with a decided dearth of people who looked like me on television who weren’t depicted as losers and nerds, or if lucky, as a lifetime martial artist who existed for the white lead to eventually defeat after practicing martial arts for a few weeks via montage. Seeing someone like Grant, a competent, fun loving part of a team was something I would have loved to see as a kid, and I hope his presence in tv helped inspire a whole generation of future Asian American actors and actresses and people in the media as he helped pave the way for them.

One of the coolest people ever! I was stuck on a project, reached out to Grant at what I am sure was a busy time in his life and actually got a reply. I totally appreciate his sincerity and the valuable information he has given. 😊👍🏻

Just got the news of his untimely passing, very bizarre and sad. The late late show was the only talk show I always wanted to watch and I remember being pleasantly surprised to find out my fellow yellow mythbuster rep Grant created Geoff. It always made me feel good growing up seeing a smart, engineering type dude getting mainstream media attention and being entertaining to boot.
RIP Grant Imahara, your creations and influence shall live on.

I remember one time he was making some sort of decapitation weapon based on an old kung fu movie. He built hidden blades in it that would swing out when he pulled the string back. He tested it on a table and had it WAY TOO CLOSE. I don't exactly remember how close it was but it could have easily gutted him. Glad you're still with us Grant lol. Keep making awesome/badass stuff but please be careful haha

Rip Grant. Im usually not affected by celebrity deaths, because they're just a face on a screen. Grant was different. You could tell he was a genuinely good man. Sensitive, brilliant and all around great role model. Condolences to his family and friends. This is truly a sad day. At least his love and passion is visible forever for everyone to witness through his many tv projects . RIP Grant.
