He still wasn't wrong about psychiatry though. You have men pretending to be women and women pretending to be men. We're slowly going down a toilet bowl. And no I'm not a Scientologist nor would I ever endorse it.
Liam Neeson spoke honestly about a feeling he had that he knew was wrong. He was honest and candid. It's not our thoughts and feelings that make us good or bad people, but the choices we make.
Right, he explained the context that created the generalization in his mind in a moment of hurt, anger and fear. It was honest and people should've used that to have a real constructive conversation. I say I'm all for "cancel culture" when it's deserved, well I think this was not one of those cases.
@@everythingiseverything9920l think you guys maybe are missing the point on this whole Liam situation. In response to his friend CLAIMING she was r@ped by a BLK man, his response wasn't to find the alleged culprit, no. His response was to grab a weapon, go to an area with BLK ppl in it and hope one attacks him so he can have the right to KILL ONE OF THEM. That's not just racist, that's PSYCHOTIC. And I'm sure if he mentioned any other group of ppl OTHER than BLK ppl, you wouldn't be making excuses for him now. Imagine if he said he wanted to hunt down a random jew. You wouldn't even be here right now.
@@KoolKeithProductions (sorry, this is long) Well I'm Black, I don't have more compassion for White people, Jews, or any other. You're missing my point as explicit as it was, and yet you're ready to discuss the matter as I think we, as a society, should have. It's not up to me or you to put a psychiatric diagnosis on Neeson, but we can all relate to desiring revenge. I wish the path to violence were more discussed in the media, and in a comprehensive manner, by professionals such as trained therapists. (That's one thing I think about) I heard recently that, in the US, some "Republicans" were outraged because of a certain program to teach kids to talk about their emotions, claiming it's not the role of teachers; I don't know the details, it sounds quite ridiculous to me to fight against such a program because I do see an interest in having these conversations about how different people cope with negative emotions and rely on various coping mechanisms, or give in to their worst impulses.
The Liam Neeson one was wayyyyy overblown. Dude had a moment of transparency and honesty, for a visceral feeling he had, in the wake of a close friend's tragedy, and ppl attacked him. Unwarranted. This is why people don't open up to others. He gained my complete respect.
@@TheLast-One wtf that got to do with Liam Neeson? Yo ppl just tried to kill yall president TF I’m glad he took accountability for his mental thoughts and didn’t act on them but that doesn’t excuse anything it that was on his conscious for a reason.
Yeah you know, it's just the stupid media wants to seek ratings. And those who attacked him literally have low IQ. Every person without exception has their mistakes, but not everyone would admit, let alone apologize and fix themselves. But Liam immediately knows his mistake, fixes himself, admits his mistake, and apologizes. This is what an honest and mature man does.
I am actually of the opinion that the honesty Liam Neeson portrayed is what we need in the world we live in. he is human and he had a reaction of misplaced hatred to a traumati event. an emotional reaction on which he did not act. I find him brave for talking about it so openly
Wokeism is horrible mental illness that makes people not having empathy and logical thinking. What he said is probably normal. When we are hurt we try to do something about it. He was consumed by rage. Yet woke crowd cannot understand that people have flaws.
I absolutely agree. As a middle-aged white woman, I have received incredible support from the black community when I talk frankly about my journey out of this or that racist mindset. It's white people who give me flak because it makes them uncomfortable to have certain things called into question.
Absolutely agree. We're from certain families and grow up in particular neighborhoods and hopefully evolve. But our past can often follow us and haunt us. The most important thing is to talk about conflicting experiences with an honesty. Unfortunately people are quick to jump on a catch phrase and speculate.
Yeah, I sort of feel like he's really overtly highlighting that he was ignorant, misdirected, traumatized and confused, and I think he was being really clear that the experience of his friend made him want to be a bad person who did bad things. I don't ALWAYS feel that these kinds of comments in interviews are justified or useful, but in Neeson's case I think he highlighted something truthful. And I'm not even his biggest fan.
I can't believe people would not like Liam Neeson for him realizing he was doing something wrong, coming to terms with it, admitting it and apologizing! WTF are people on man
It's human nature when something scares you or gives you intense emotion...things that resemble what gave you that emotion, will give you that emotion....for example....that picture of a guys armpit close up....but it looks like a vag
I'm not sure it's really black and white either way. Setting out to kill a random innocent guy is a little concerning even if you catch yourself in time.
The attacks on Liam Neeson were idiotic and cruel, a deliberate misrepresentation of his honesty. His confession of youthful anger has probably saved at least one life.
To be fair I respect his honesty and to be honest pretty powerful moment for him. I can forgive him. Even tho I say WTF but once I listen to why I said this dude is genuinely sorry and feel horrible for that thinking. And he did change.
His speech was actually one of the best anti-racism speeches. Showing that out of anger he blamed the wrong people. But he got aware he was wrong and corrected his behaviour. That's the best testimony to help people in that same situation understand their own wrong thinking and correcting it. The bad reactions he got are actually a huge setback telling those people that redemption is forbidden for them however sincere their change of mind is.
@@christianbarnay2499 This is why cancel culture is dangerous in general. People lose jobs over shit they said six years ago, even when they haven't said anything remotely similar since. Censoring people who made mistakes is the opposite of how you change things. It's the people who made mistakes and changed their point of view who should be heard the most. They're the ones who can speak to those who are still misled. Silencing them in pursuit of creating an echo chamber doesn't really accomplish anything.
The one who should be careful not to bite the hand that feeds is hollywood itself. We hold the power over them not the other way around. If all of us vote with our wallets they lose everything.
I would bash Germany too xD growing up somewhere makes you actually know the place and being able to look beyond the fancy surface... well as long as you're not ignorant towards it

Why isn’t Jussie Smollett on this list for faking an assault by white men that were supposedly wearing MAGA hats and putting a rope around his neck??? The African men he paid to do this later admitted to it.
Katherine Heigl seems like a very just person, who speaks up on anything she does not deem right, in this case mostly sexism. I don't know why it is painted as if she is this obnoxious person when she just seems strict with herself and others because of her good principles. Good for her for not allowing others to walk all over her.
Before Shannen Doherty passed away, she had Katherine Heigl on her podcast, Let's Be Clear. They bonded over how people in the industry just didn't like how they wouldn't any BS. They stood up for themselves and others and were then labeled as "difficult' to work with. People just hate to hear how wrong they are. Katherine Heigl and Shannen Doherty have been my favorites since Charmed and Roswell. There's just a certain episode of Charmed that I can't watch again though.

No 17-yo. has the luxury of being a child, even if still innocent, because in the two-to-three year period prior to that age we all made decisions (yea or nay) about our sexual personas. Good lord, in most countries sexuality is recognized at a much earlier stage than in the U.S. - which, incidentally, has the longest childhood in the world! Where else, for instance, are 20-somethings, even young 30-somethings, referred to as 'kids'? Infuriating doesn't begin to describe what I feel about someone faking cancer!! I lost my mother, my father and 27 friends and family to cancer! I am a cancer survivor of 19 years. The last year I have been taking care of my stepdad as a 24/7 caregiver who has 2nd bout of lung cancer and was told he won't make it until Xmas. I haven't left my home in a year taking care of him and it's getting harder and harder. I’m glad things turned around for him but yeah, I would hope most people agree with that level of honesty no matter who you are. Really weird to say that women who spoke out against sexism and got black listed by men who run Hollywood are somehow to blame for their own careers being tanked, and not the sexist men who intentionally tanked these women's careers
Networking has a cost, especially in hollywood. Not supporting it in anyway (hell we already have enough division in this world), but the cinema business existed for a little over 100 years, and it was male-dominated for a good portion of it. I expect that to change in the coming generations
I think the criticism of Catherine Heigl was that she bit the hand that fed her. If she was appalled at the sexism in a film she starred in, why not bring her concerns to the producers of the film rather than running to the press to complain?
Ikr!? They kept claiming these people did/said things in these interviews that got them "cancelled" only to show a short clip that could've been taken out of context
I don't believe Liam Neeson belongs on this list: He admitted to his wrong ways of thinking (we were all idiots once, at least I know I was), explained the background (The Troubles and all) and explained it was an emotional twang upon which he thankfully never acted.
It still hurt his career and that's why he's on the list. I'm glad most people seem sympathetic to him though. And glad he came to his senses before he really injured someone.
Tbh I think it was the right sentiment but the wrong forum / audience. Most people will just hear what they want to hear regardless of the full context. I think Liam is genuine but a little naive to have shared his story and not be prepared for the backlash.
I agree with some of these for sure... but not all of them. Katherine Heigl interview, yes that hurt her. Prince Andrew, yes that was a big backfire. Megan Fox, I would say moderate damage. The Tom Cruise thing wasn't really that damaging. The Liam Neeson interview did virtually no damage. Joaquin Phoenix, that wasn't really all that bad as he was plugging his weird documentary... The Lance Armstrong thing, he was already "cancelled" before that interview. This particular Charlie Sheen interview didn't cause any real damage.

Ironically to the whole situation and his place as a scientologist and all the pseudo science that goes along with it he is correct haha. Psychology is largely a field of pseudoscience as represented by the fact virtually any study in the field replicated can never give identical results. Furthermore medication to treat depression is largely pseudoscience. We've known for awhile the SSRI's are a joke and akin to bloodletting. So he was right there and is right about psychology. As hilariously ironic that is. Keep in mind neuroscience which is far newer than psychology is in it's infancy. We have no clue what the mind even is still. Even the field of biology itself you realize it's 2023 and we literally don't even know how biology itself knows "how to function". Consider those words specifically. DNA/RNA are like blueprints but it doesn't run biology. Think of DNA/RNA as software, we've never found the operating system yet. That is how stone age our grasp of biology still is. An easy real world example of this is we don't know how a zygote knows how to differentiate into an organism. It's like workers building a house, the blueprint is RNA/DNA, but how do the workers know how to do everything to execute those blueprints. We don't know how biology knows how to work. Let that sink in lol. It's as profound as it is absurd how infinitesimal our knowledge is despite how it's presented.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep What you wrote is utterly wrong. Just read books in neuroscience and neuropsychology and don't get your informations only from internet. P.s. If you think "We don't know how biology knows how to work" then don't ever go to doctors.
For me, the biggest shock in my life was when Nobel peace prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi refused to condemn the genocide of Myanmar's Rohingya minority. She had been a hero and inspiration to me all my life, and with a single interview became, in my eyes, one of the most despicable and inhumane racists in the world. It was like a stone crushing my heart and dreams for humanity.
I fully agree and I felt the same. Although one must consider that she is under the military's control, so they might have restricted what she could say.
I appreciate Liam Neeson's honesty, he was mourning his friends trauma and had a very human response to try and find the guy. It's similar to road rage, an inert response to having your emotions overly stimulated. He wasn't hunting the guy because of his skin color but because of his actions. I'd feel the same way if I was in his shoes.
I hope Liam Neeson knows that some of us who watch his movies have been in her shoes.. I'm glad he isn't angry at anyone who remotely reminds him of the guys who did it anymore, but his outrage about what was done to someone he cares about is heartening. This is also a good example of how prejudice can sneak into a person's worldview, even if they didn't use to be bigoted, and that it takes awareness to let go of that. I'm sorry it apparently hit his career so hard, but I admire him for the warmth of his heart and the ability to change his mind when he starts painting people with too wide a brush.. ❤️
Natalie Portman; when she supported Roman Polanski and felt he deserved an Oscar, even though he had fled the country to avoid prosecution for sexually abusing a 13 year old.
It was more than just Natalie Portman. A lot of hollyweird supported him and thought that he shouldn't have had to flee. Meryl Streep was on of them too.
An oldie that wasn’t on here that got me was Sean Connery admitting he has and would again hit a woman not shutting up after being told to do so. That one floored me when I saw it, especially since it was over a decade later. The industry knew how much money Sean Connery made them for every movie, so very few people ever saw it at the time. Keep in mind it was the early 90’s I think, maybe even the 80’s. A time without social media, streaming services, and the internet was in it’s infancy.
I think it was all in the delivery in the interview, mixed with the time period, where any slip up at all didn't end your entire career. Everyone saw it. It was a Barbara Walters special, and all of her specials were well watched. They didn't hide it. Connery was teflon, because he was 100% straight forward, and honest about how he feels about Men and Woman in relationships, and the boundries he is very clear with when it comes to his partner. He didn't say he believes all women should agree with him, or that's the way things should be on a societal level. He was saying that's what HE believes and delivered it with honesty and conviction. If you watch that interview, Walters didn't dislike him at all. I think she was somewhat charmed by his blunt honesty, while treating her with the utmost respect. He was a total gentleman in that interview and went right at her tough questions without any hesitation. People just respect that quality in someone, and I think that's why he continued to be liked. You would never not know where you stood with him.

He didn't mention psychology. He mentioned psychiatry. The first is a science because it has a methodology, the second is a pseudo-science because it does not. They are completely different disciplines. Though the fact that he was accurate about psychiatry doesn't stop him from seeming like a bit of a space cadet.
@@Manuka_888 You may be right. I saw a psychiatrist once, when I was low and needed help, in darker days of mental hospitals. Before I went on to get a degree in psychology. He reinforced his reputation as a cunt. Few months later the apparent mind solver killed himself. Few of his colleagues attended his funeral. My best mate, who had serious mental problems found the same hospital oppressive and woefully unhelpful when he needed help. I mean, they REALLY let a hurting kid down. Psychiatry has a pretty poor reputation. (One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest etc) historically. Zapping women for their nymphomania, zapping gays for their gayness. Zapping males for not slapping their women. The fascism of it all really ought to raise a red flag with anyone who gives a shit.

I have had 2 or 3 panic attacks every week since i was about 5 years old, I have seen many psychatrists about it and my "experienced" opinion is thus: Most people in the psychiatry field think their job is to let you tell them the problem and address that problem BUT most of us dont know what our problem actually is. (i was 30 when I discovered they were panic attacks) It is their job to investigate and figure out what that problem is and that is where most of them fail, they think of their profession as a surgeon who finds and fixes problems rather than a diagnostician who investigates...
Turns out, My problem requires medication ( took about 30 different drugs over 3 years to find one that worked) so at least the drugs themselves can work...I know it works for some people but it didnt work for me and i think i know why, so i will summarize my findings...
1. IF you are an introspective person (like me) and you have not found a way to cope, you will need medication to correct the problem. 2. IF you are not, then a psychiatrist can help you find a way to cope... 3.IF you try medication remember to be aware of the placebo effect and take precautions, tell yourself the medication will probably not work and be keenly aware of how you feel on it,(if it feels like its not working at all move on to something else instead of increasing dosage) that way when you find something that actually works it will support you even at your lowest... 4. Remember some doctors get kickbacks for prescribing certain medications so when they have an choice they will start with that, it don't mean it won't work but if it don't feel like it's trying to work at first they will often try uping the dosage instead of moving on to something else, which is a waste of your money and more importantly your time...

Absolutely. She was painted as difficult to work with after that interview, when she was totally justified in what she said about Bay. Fwiw, I think she's a very underrated comic actress. She was amazing on SNL, hope she gets more opportunities in the future.
@@hihowareyouthenYes, she was just telling the truth. She’s been vilified and dismissed just because of the way she looks. She’s very funny, but people would spin her words around. She was absolutely hilarious on SNL, and when they had one of their most talented casts. I think that’s why she was hired to be in the movie I think called “Friends With Kids” that starred mainly SNL cast and also written and produced by SNL members. She was great in Jennifer’s Body. It’s a shame she doesn’t get more parts. I think many men in Hollywood can’t handle a beautiful woman who speaks her mind and reveals truths.
Belle Gibson didn't ruin her career with that interview -- she didn't HAVE a career. That interview happened AFTER she had been caught in a web of extraordinary lies. All that interview did was confirm what everyone already knew.

Wokeism is horrible mental illness that makes people not having empathy and logical thinking. What he said is probably normal. When we are hurt we try to do something about it. He was consumed by rage. Yet woke crowd cannot understand that people have flaws.

She had been a hero and inspiration to me all my life, and with a single interview became, in my eyes, one of the most despicable and inhumane racists in the world. It was like a stone crushing my heart and dreams for humanity.
I don't think that's how being racist works
@@OneMwataK How does being a racist works?
I fully agree and I felt the same. Although one must consider that she is under the military's control, so they might have restricted what she could say.

Lance Armstrong was already done, that interview just made everything official
also, unlike most of the other interviews, presumably Lance Armstrong knew the interview would blow things up

@@maggiegarber246 makes me wonder...was it a deal diagnosis or a sympathy ploy?
They say he had A BALL doing that interview…
I'm sorry it apparently hit his career so hard, but I admire him for the warmth of his heart and the ability to change his mind when he starts painting people with too wide a brush..

exactly, he was being honest and was very self-aware of his own bias, but people prefer to judge and destroy a person's career.

I'm guessing she didn't know?
@@BlueVelvetBear I knew and I'm not in Hollywood! What a liar!
Wow I’m shocked she did that
This is why when I imagine I am famous I don’t do interviews without reading the questions
Yes, me too. He seemed like a gentleman, but turned out to be a brute.
I'd be completely fine with "a little slap" from Sean Connery
You would never not know where you stood with him.
i must admit i have never hit a woman but my wife has hit me and i have had restrain but i was thinking it lol i am 6'2/195 ,she is 5; 130 and a real firecracker lol

Almost hilariously Tom Cruise was slamming psychology when really he probably needed a psychologist the most at that time
I think he is doing pretty well too.
mans calling it sudo science while being in scientology
He didn't mention psychology. He mentioned psychiatry. The first is a science because it has a methodology, the second is a pseudo-science because it does not. They are completely different disciplines. Though the fact that he was accurate about psychiatry doesn't stop him from seeming like a bit of a space cadet.
@@True_Heretic Load of bullshit. Psychiatry uses RCTs, the gold standard of scientific methodology.
@@Manuka_888 You may be right. I saw a psychiatrist once, when I was low and needed help, in darker days of mental hospitals. Before I went on to get a degree in psychology. The guy told me to basically fuck off. He was later was on a TV documentary where he stated that he did not care if a specific patient lived or died. Mistake on his part.
Of course, the "industry" has tried to clean up its act by inventing extra bullshit that might validate it. But that's a bit like putting a plaster on a severed arm. Too, too, too iittle and too fucking late.
If you happened across my other comments on psychiatry you would see that I still see the discipline as potentially useful. Which is ironic considering how much of a FACTORY OF DESSTRUCTION it has been for most of its history.
But I do recognise that it attracts some often brilliant minds who might otherwise contribute less if they did so in psychology or other areas.
I'd like response from you. I don't consider this discussion resolved by you or me.

Joaquin Phoenix bounced back thanks to Joker and his subsequent Oscar win.
John Mayer is a jerk. He was popular for awhile because he was handsome and could halfway sing.
It's rather typical that Megan Fox got "blackballed" for calling out Bay's abusive behavior while Bay continued making millions by exploiting more young women. There is very good evidence that he effectively tortured her and committed a variety of acts that would be inappropriate at the very least and possibly considered se*ual As*ault. Have you heard of how Hitchcock treated Tippi Hedron when shooting "the Birds"? Because she didn't return his affections, he used the excuse of shooting scenes as an opportunity to have her injured and se* ually humiliate her. She quit acting after this one movie even though it her first "big break" because she was so traumatized and suffered from PTSD the rest of her life. Look into it - it was a literal horror show (for Tippi). And Bay did similar things to Fox, from all reports, but was too much of a cash cow for the industry for them to do anything about this 42 year old guy using his position to harass a a 21 year old young woman. And it was HER career that got destroyed?

I have had 2 or 3 panic attacks every week since i was about 5 years old, I have seen many psychatrists about it and my "experienced" opinion is thus:
Most people in the psychiatry field think their job is to let you tell them the problem and address that problem
BUT most of us dont know what our problem actually is.
@@emptycradle1304 My panic attacks started when I was seven years old and I never took any medication because I thought it was cognitive and maybe I could conquer it. Well, 45 years later, I never conquered it! I was living my life around fear or should I say hardly living my life, so I finally caved & decided to try medication because my panic attacks were escalating like never before. I was getting them every day several times a day, even when I was in the bed at night! My doctor encouraged me to try Zoloft, and I am so glad I did, it cut the panic attacks out almost entirely! I was thinking how many years I have wasted always having to deal with these panic attacks & trying to hide it from other people so they wouldn’t judge me.
