    These are so much better than mine! I really wish I'd found your channel before I started my own journey. Simply fantastic!

    I am enjoying these quite a lot. The Heroquest stuff is pure nostalgia for me, I had this boardgame growing up and I am enjoying watching you paint it and teaching me how to do it should I ever decide to get the boardgame once more

    These tables are so cool!!!! You’re going to have a Borrower come into your house and read those pages and be making wee spells now though 🤣

    Amazing series on HQ. I just started painting my own base game and bought a couple of expansions, so this series is coming in clutch.

    Taking a deep breath as these are my next paints (minus the tables).
    Your Heroquest vidoes put me a mindset that I can do this
    And if I make mistake... thats ok :]

    I am completing a collection of the classic release and expansions as well as the new release and expansions. Currently playing with the cardboard furniture until i paint up all of the plastic pieces from the remake. I did get a ton of extra skulls with my classic expansions so I am going to use them on the new furniture after seeing how great yours look.

    Never really thought about using snakebite leather as wood. Normally i use cygor brown, but i really like the more lighter wood color snakebite gives. Will try that next time. :)

      Thanks! It's definitely my go to ;p Yeah I've often seen darker contrast/speedpaint used for brown wood, often with a warm grey drybrush.

    what kind of priming for this Alchemy desk? i see you have so much more detail in the area where you use nuln oil. i dont have any cracks there. im using can spray grey prime. do i spray too much, or is the product im using to "thick" / bad quality?

      I was just using some random can of black Rustoleum that time, nothing special. To get my zenithal though, I did a drybrush of white craft paint in several layers to build up highlight and detail. This could be one reason why mine has much more stark contrast and deep details, though you are right and poor mold casting and/or a thick prime could weaken details.
      If you're feeling like you're missing details, remember, you can always paint them in :) try a dark grey and stippling little dots to make rough stone, or draw thin lines for cracks. If it's not there, try and make it there, you might be surprised with how it looks.

      @notyourmothershobbies thanks for replying 😊 yes I have done that with figures but it takes some time!😅 so I skipped for speed. I also have a very bad drybrush so will make a new one. I'm new to this. But half way through the starter kit

    Did i get it wrong? you sprayed the minis with a matt varnish and then added Ardcoat on the gems and glass, right? Did you also varnish the tables?

    • @notyourmothershobbies
      @notyourmothershobbies  Рік тому +1

      You got it correct, don't you worry. I varnished everything. Whatever I paint, I finish off with a coat of matte clear varnish to seal the work and protect from damage. In the case of the gems, afterward I did indeed apply a brush on gloss varnish after to make them shine. It doesn't have to be gems, you could do this with anything you want to give an extra shiny shine to (like a magic orb or some ice or whatever have you).

      @@notyourmothershobbiesI’m a noob to this hobby too and following along with this series. For the matte varnish, do you wait to do metallics until after you’ve varnished, or varnish over the metallics and then hit them with ardcoat? I tried varnishing over the Vallejo chrome and it just kills it.

    • @notyourmothershobbies
      @notyourmothershobbies  6 місяців тому

      @@DaCheat100 I varnish when I'm finished painting, so after the metallics yes. Matte varnish can kill/dull them yes, especially if you over spray. It's a tough balancing act and sometimes it can come down to the brand of product you're using having differing effects. Some people's solution to this is a satin varnish or to apply the metallics after varnish like you suggested, but I'm not a fan of either. You could always double back and brush on gloss varnish directly to your metallic areas (thinned or straight) to hype up the shine. Hope this clears some things up.

    why are your wall items different?

    • @notyourmothershobbies
      @notyourmothershobbies  Місяць тому

      What do you mean? Why do they have decorations and stuff? If that's the question then here's the answer :) I added extra details using little bits like mini skulls, bottles, weapons, etc as well as small stones (for gems) and some sand (for loose gold).
      If that doesn't answer things, please feel free to clarify further. Hope that helps!

      @@habekeinennamen No worries! There was nothing wrong with your english haha, I only worried about specifics to give you the best answer!
      If you have other terrain, or any of the new expansion, you can always try adding to those ones! There's always a next time hah
