Decapi's and the Flayers (with a feather in his cap) seem kind of Cthuluesque and may be fitting with a quest revolving around the Abominations. Love the Halfling Warlock, have Mythic, but may have to expand on it, or she could be a Halfing Wizard. Of course the campfire may be for the goblin night watch, or the heroes come across an unattended (?) fire while they are about.
For the empty/mystic portals, I can see leaving an empty one in the middle of a room, and when activated, dropping the mystic version, and waiting for the heroes to enter before dropping the next one. Could be another room, or maybe another board, enter if you dare brave adventurers. And yes, already shopping.
Use plasticard for the base of the book pedestal, you could build it in layers to add texture and detail.
I'm so glad you shared this. I just ordered fifty miniatures from them based on this video and my order arrived four days after the order was placed. I had to do some snipping of the excess plastic on some of the minis, but my god, what a value they were! I got fifty minis for just about $70 with free shipping. Amazing!
Good to see this company getting it's moment. I backed the first KS and was really excited to see how they'd turn out, and then was a little disappointed with the scale, which is much closer to "True Scale" as opposed to "Heroic". Some of the minis are okay at the smaller profile, but most don't pair too well (in my very subjective opinion) with HQ21+. The details are pretty decent overall, so I do appreciate the artistry.
That said, for the 2nd KS Next Level acknowledged the concerns of first campaign backers, and came up with a slightly larger scaling option and offered 1st Campaigners a discount to re-purchase the enhanced scale. I Didn't want to purchase them all again myself, but I thought it was a solid gesture on the part of Next Level.
As an aside, the rather diminutive Goblins "Could" be used as Snotlings, for those with an old-school point of reference, and this was sort of my approach with the D&D Adventure Board Game Goblins. Neither here nor there, but to say that even the smaller scale can be "Worked with" if one has the will and imagination.
Regardless, nice coverage, Ash, and I look forward to seeing your Speed Painting efforts in the future.

Yo Ash, thank you for bringing these minis to my attention. Had some holes in my collection and this site filled all but one. I was able to get about 18 minis for less than 30 dollars with free shipping. Keep up the good work brave hero.
Ooh, just had a thought... Maybe you can reach out to them, and team up with them on your Skavinish Quest Book that you've been working on to come up with their next campaign/page of minis that just happen to coincide with your Ratling needs. They get more ratfolk, and you get your compliment of Skavin. That way you know that they'll HeroQuest. ;)
I think it's a butterfly, not a snail. I recognize that pose a lot. I believe I had some artwork earlier for my Druid which that mini might have been modeled from. Will look for it later...
Makes me wonder how many "proxy" minis are out there for the other Heroes in HeroQuest. It could be cool for if the party ever fights a rival group of Heroes, so that they're similar but visually distinct enough to not cause confusion at the table in case there's a Warlock in both parties.
I backed one of their kickstarters, Dragon Hoard All-In Pledge. When I received them I was severely disappointed, as was probably 90% of the backers according to the comments and Updates they sent after people started receiving the products. They were advertised as 28mm, but what was shipped was noticeably smaller. After they realized they "miscommunicated" the scale they used in the kickstarter, they did offer a special price on a re-sizing order. So I guess kudos there? Anyway, I was not backing their future kickstarters.
All that said, the detail on their minis is awesome. Which is probably why I was as upset about the scale as I was. Very good quality and detail, but I just had no use for minis that size.
I believe their latest kickstarters have fixed the size issue.
I have .stls of some of these from MyMinifactory. I much prefer 3d printing because you can alter scale and material (clear resin is my default). If you want 20 of one thing easy peasey. I have made enough HQ sized portal doors to use them in "The Castle of Mystery" quest. Congrats on 1000 subs too.

Why does everyone hate on venim so much? I think it's an awesome mini. Sure, it has a base that is way too small and is prone to tipping but compared to the rest of the mythic minis it's the best one.

I like how you're using different miniatures for HQ. I do the same. I use a bunch of snake-men-looking creatures from the Folklore: The Affliction board game for my HQ game. And I've begun painting some minis red using the Citadel paint that's exactly the red as the heroes minis in HQ. I painted one of the goblins from the standard HQ game that same red, last night. That goblin is the Goblin Apprentice from the AxianQuest Dungeon Events deck. Now I can have a red goblin to represent a hero's apprentice.
So glad to see they adjusted the sizes. I backed their original kickstarter and even though they said they were 28mm they were no where close. Bought them for HQ but completely unusable unfortunately.
