Jimmy Page was a master at using alternate tunings on the guitar. This song was in the key of G and Jimmy’s guitar was tuned to DGCGCD . Beautiful tuning.

I agree. I grew up in this era. Led Zeppelin is my #1 group. My next is Chicago (70s music only) same amazing talent. Individual singers writers of their music also. The brass is my favorite part. Terry kath ( guitar/ singer) rip to him. And Peter Ceteras mostly lead vocals .you must listen to them soon...you will love them.
Our wedding song too! And, unfortunately, made a beautiful song for my husband’s funeral as well. To have a song be perfect for both experiences really speaks to the quality of the song.

Tremendous! George Harrison of the Beatles said to John Bonham, "the problem with you guys is you never do ballads", a pissed of Page than wrote this in response.
Heard Jimmy say this many times, yet never heard him say that he was "Pissed". Do know Page respected George quite a bit and pays homage to Harrison by starting tthe Rain Song with the same chord GH used on "Something". Always thought that was classy and very cool.
@@dlewtweentorla1210 perhaps Jimmy wasn't angry, but he did consider it a challenge, telling Brad Tolinski during an interview "George [Harrison] was talking to Bonzo one evening and said, 'The problem with you guys is that you never do ballads.' I said, 'I'll give him a ballad,' and I wrote 'Rain Song,' which appears on Houses of the Holy. In fact, you'll notice I even quote 'Something' in the song's first two chords." The song had a working title of "slush" due to its softer, more orchestral sound.
@@henriettaskolnick4445 know the exact quote you speak of. Do think Jimmy did his best work when challenged and motivated. When he brought Achilles to the band (riff and concept), Jones' commented it would be impossible to do Live! To this day Page still says he's very proud of that song and is his favorite to play live ! Cheers
This is beautiful. Now go listen to LED Zeppelin at the MSG 1973 version done by 4 guys. It’s equally beautiful in its own way. The story I heard about this song, is that Bonzo and Jimmy Page were talking with George Harrison of the Beatles, and he said that Zeppelin never does ballads. Jimmy wrote this. This was an especially wonderful reaction. Thank you.

This makes me so happy to see these young ladies really getting into what is probably my favorite band of all time! Keep digging girls , it just gets better! 🐉🎸🎶🎵🌌💕💖💛🧠
Watching the emotions that you both go through listening to Led Zeppelin brings me to tears.. Thank you for your reaction videos.. keep up the great work, you are both stars 🌟 🤟😎✌
Wow, they nailed that performance. That is good quality sound for a live show also. I noticed the pick being thrown away also. I always stick mine in my mouth when I want to switch to plucking the strings instead of strumming. When you throw the pick there is always the chance that it will stick to your fingers. For real.
Ok girls, since you loved that Video, you need to see a earlier Live stage performance, with them Standing on Stage. You see Jimmy lose himself in the mellowness of the melody. It's almost hypnotic to watch him. And Bonham's drums are epic!
@Less Than Laughing Wow they sure nailed it. I was impressed with the Orchestra too! I'm glad to hear you're not just a Zeppelin fan but also play Guitar too! Your right about the pick sticking to your fingers, I've noticed Jimmy has a pick in his mouth at times. He's also had them slip and fall, and someone runs up to give him one. He had a great crew I'm sure. I'm happy I saw Page and Plant in '98, they sounded great then too. I hope you did too!
@@julesrose7738 Nope...where I grew up (A medium sized city in the south) Led Zeppelin never got near us, unless maybe they were in Memphis or St. Louis, but I was a senior in 1981 and didn't get to St. Louis or Memphis for a visit until Led Zeppelin had already gone KAPUT! The only bands that would come to my town were Rush and Cheap Trick, and they came just about every year so I have seen them plenty of times. Later YES came through so I was able to strike that off of my bucket list. It was the Talk concert tour, and although Yes had been slowly going downhill with their new stuff (just my opinion) the Talk album was simply incredible, as good as 90125 but not getting any radio hits. Are you a Yes fan...you have to check out Talk. As far as pick-in-mouth disease, I have three instrumentals I made up that require plucking at the end, and I am getting pretty good at stuffing the pick between my lips fast enough to not lose the beat. One of those songs is actually called My Pick Tastes Funny.
That little look followed by the nod Robert gives Jimmy at the end chokes me up every time. Jimmy had made it through some rough personal times and performed this song so beautifully. As perfect as it could possibly be without JPJ and JB. MARK
I love it when huge rock groups use classicly-trained musicians, who really get into the music. U2 does a song with a Harlem gospel choir that's awesome too.
UPON US ALL, A LITTLE RAIN MUST FALL! How epic is that? I know people wanted the song from the MSG concert, but I am glad your dad chose this version. A mature Plant & Page from the 90's. This song was not going to have vocals, at first, but Page wanted Plant to sing. Please listen to the original when you can. You will appreciate the song more. This song is also on the DVD you received-The Song Remains The Same! Plant is amazing in concert singing it-full of emotion. Loved your comments and both of you were spot on with them. One of my favorite Zeppelin songs. They were told by another musician (George Harrison from The Beatles) they should do a love song & there you have it. Glad you both felt emotions when listening to the song. I always do. I would love to see you both react to another rain song by Zeppelin-Fool In The Rain! You keep saying Zeppelin brings something new each time, they do in the song I mentioned. You will like it. Hope everyone is staying safe! Blessings & Love! 💖
Excellent! Just one little correction, actually the song that was planned to be an instrumental is The Song Remains the Same, not The Rain Song. Long live the mighty Zeppelin!
@@leonardosmaniotto thank you for clearing that one up. I read some place The Rain Song was to be an instrumental only as the melody was so beautiful but then Page decided the song would be better with Plant singing so he had Plant write the lyrics. I guess you can't rely on articles these days as you never know if it is true or false...lol. I know my Zep history as I am a huge fan but thanks for calling me out on this one. Greatly appreciate it! ✌
Thank you Suzy for liking our reaction! Our dad always tells us that Led Zeppelin are so loved that different people have different choice of concerts! And he went with this one! LOL! I believe that Led Zeppelin can play a baby's rhyme song and Mia and I would be happy to listen o that! LOL! ! Mia and I love them, even though we were missing John Bonham and John Paul Jones, we still loved the way that both Page and Plant played and interpreted the song! : )
@@danasfaith5738 you are welcome. I could not wait for the two of you to react to the song. I like the fact your dad decided to go with the Plant & Page version when they toured together in the 90's. A bit different from the Zeppelin days but it seemed to work & fans went to the concerts. Bonham & Jones were missed...I agree with you on that. As I mentioned, you can always watch the DVD a loyal fan sent with Plant singing The Rain Song from the MSG concert. He nailed it. I laughed about the baby rhyme song comment...lol. So true! As I mentioned in my main comment, down the road, please have your dad review Fool In The Rain for the two of you to react to. Bonham makes the song...trust me. A different sound for the band. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more Zeppelin and other artists! Let's keep the music journey going! Blessings and love! 💖
A great reaction by two of my favorite reactors! You girls are becoming stars! If you think you can stand another one of Led Zeppelin's softer songs I would recommend "Battle of Evermore", an absolute gem!
Hey ladies, I love your reactions! Just want to note this wasn't Led Zeppelin without John Bonham and John Paul Jones. This was a "Page & Plant" gig. Wonderful to hear them with a symphony orchestra!
Jimmy can play any guitar be it acoustic, electric, nuclear, neutron, or Di-lithium crystals he’s a master. Wish JPJ had been there. Great reaction ladies! You had some very good points for such young people!
@@kenduffy5397 I think so but only 60%. From Pages hair it has to be around that time as it grayed in the 2000's. It was bad that JPJ wasn't involved for what ever reason as he was such an integral part of their whole being. They were all such great musicians that taking one out of the equation is not a plus.
@@Cashcrop54 Mark, I couldn't agree with you more. That’s also how noticed it had to be around that timeframe. Because of the ages Plant and Page look. It was very cool that they had a full string ensemble. It was VERY uncool to exclude not only a founding member but probably the most talented Multi-instrumentalist Bassist and arranger of just not Led Zeppelin, but of his era. Be seeing there was a full string section there was no need for John to play the Mellotron. Still no excuse to not have him playing his famous 1962 Jazz Bass! If they wanted to strictly keep it an acoustic set up he was more than capable of holding his own on upright bass. Though knowing John as an A1 classically trained musician. He would have left the Double bass duties to an expert upright bass player. Also, it would have been AWESOME if John was the Conductor! It probably would have sold 3/4 more than it did, had he arranged and conducted the entire string section! John was an expert in string arranging especially full ensembles. He learned these skills first hand growing up as the son of his professional musician and Big Band arranger father. Along with his mother who was a classically trained Pianist & Vocalist. It would have kept Plants & Pages “Led Zeppelin’s” reputation intact. They did not feel the repercussions at first. Though, as time went by? As would be expected. A music writer eventually found & asked John. “Why didn’t you perform with Jimmy and Robert?” His answer was disturbing at best & sad a worst. (I’m paraphrasing) “Well, they never called me and asked if I would like to join them” Writer: “Would you have played with them if they called?” John: “Well, we’ll never know the answer to that, because I was never asked!” “ I’ve known them practically my inter adult life & had they asked me? I’m not sure I could have said no“ “Me and Maureen have had the same phone number for over 30 years now” Writer: “How does that make you feel?” John: “I will admit, I was a bit taken back by it all. I didn’t know about it until everyone else did.” I read somewhere Mark that JPJ read in a news article that the Beatles were so famous that they couldn’t go anywhere without getting mobbed. So from the very beginning, he told himself “I don’t want to live like that!” That was the last thing I wanted for myself. I didn’t want to have the privilege of travelling the world and not being able to go outside and enjoy different towns, people, cultures. I didn’t want to travel across America in a hotel room & a limousine. Especially when in those extremely rare times my wife would travel with me and leave the children home with their grandparents. That’s where it’s believed the animosity started when he (JPJ) would sometimes walk out a different door with a hat & sunglasses on. So as not to be recognized by fans. Whereas Robert and Jimmy loved the attention & would walk out the main door & get mobbed by fans, especially very attractive female fans. John didn’t want any part of it. Now with that said. Lol, JPJ partied, fornicated & lived the life of a Rock Star just as much as the other 3, if not more?! He just kept it on the DL. I don’t know about you Mark, but I call that being smart in my book! But not just smart in my book. I believe it was Peter Grant (don't quote me that it was Grant. It may have been a member of their Entourage) who said “Jonesy? Ah, Jonesy was the easiest one of them all to handle.” “He never talked? He goes and do his own thing and always is back in time for soundcheck. Then he’d go backstage with other the boys, eat & knock a few back while preparing to go on stage. “He did partake in the debauchery just as much as the rest then for the first few years.” “But he never had bad press strictly about him.” Anyways, at some point in late 77 to 80. He often started to stay in a different hotel? I’m sure it was to get away from it all? Especially when his wife Maureen was with him! But apparently, it didn’t go over well with Jimmy & Robert (lol come on, the Dude has his wife on the road) Bonzo? Well, Bonzo, was Bonzo & he could careless about where or what Jonesy was doing. As long as he stood in his same spot every night on stage so I (Bonzo) could read JPJ’s body language if I couldn’t hear him or they both decided to improvise, only if they COULD hear each other. Which, as I’m sure you know… Led Zeppelin generally improvised a lot. Especially when the fans didn’t want them to leave the stage! JPJ was never late or missed any rehearsals, soundcheck’s and performances. That’s one thing Jimmy did do (& John) everything and anything in regards to the band and music was very strict and ALWAYS professional! The other stuff, away from the band & music? He didn’t care, why would he? It’s not a secret anymore, that he loved his Heroin. I don’t mean to ramble Mark but as a bass player myself. I tend to take it a little too personal, sorry. JPJ is one of my Heroes! He wrote some of Zeppelins biggest hits! These are a few he wrote: Black Dog, No Quarter, Royal Orleans, All My Love, How Many More Times, Fool in the Rain’, In the Light, Trampled Under Foot, The Rain Song etc.
@@kenduffy5397 Well said! I love watching JPJ and John playing live. They interact well. The fact that they could play such acrobatic time signatures and polyrhythmic beats, like "Fool in the Rain" came from their solid foundation. Thanks for the info on JPJ. Great stuff.
That was amazingly beautiful in so many ways !! Thank you ladies for doing what you do !! There is so much more beautiful music of the 70’s you should react to!!
I am so so proud of you girls. You two are now family. The song represents the Four Seasons of Love and relationships. The springtime is so romantic the summer is so much fun the winter is so filled with challenges the fall is the realization of the light in the torch that will must realize and follow
Hey girls.. Good Cho!ice. Lil older here. Luv watching for your reaction to the mellow Zep.. And waiting for them to break out.. I liked how you interpreted this.. Peace and Family. Plant and Page don't disappoint.. And yes, they are Plant and Page here.. After 1980, John Bonham passed away and Robert said they were no longer considered Led Zeppelin.. Out of Loyalty and respect to John "Bonzo" Bonham. Thanks for the post👍
You two are amazing. You hear so many details in the music, the way the music relates to the lyrics, and you already have figured out a way to talk about it. When you get to college you definitely should take as much music history as you can. You will love it and you'll learn new languages for explaining what you hear.
I was fortunate enough to be of the age when these songs were released. They are the sound of my childhood,my teenhood, my adulthood. This is how I felt when I discovered them. Bonzo made me become a drummer. Zeppelin made me a musician. Thanks for the flashbacks! Well done, ladies! "Ramble On"
It would seem you girls have become full fledged Zeppelin fans and why not. This is a perfect example of Page and Plant showing how versatile they are.Jimmy Page's playing on acoustic guitar here, is just beautiful and flawless. They are in their 40's here. Many years after they originally recorded and played it live.Love your reactions when the music really moves you. You both experience music on the level that it's meant to be experienced.
Jimmy (the guitarist) wrote this song and he wrote most of the Led Zepellin songs. This DVD concert is the clearest sound ever of a Led Zeppelin ever released in 1994. In that same concert they also played the best version of their song Kashmir ever. Check it out. That video is called No Quarter Kashmir. search it. :)

I'm a baby boomer.. Always loved these guys.. The music of my youth and these two still have it... The Rain Song is one of my favorites and the song just makes me lay back and smile.
Another great reaction ladies. I went to see the show when it went on tour the next year in 1995 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK and they were amazing! Thanks for showing this :-)
I remember asking my dad at age 13 to buy Led Zeppelin 4, at K Mart around 74 or 75. After that I was hooked man. This song in my opinion Jimmy Pages best song writing ever. The chorus and orchestra was all Jimmy Page as well, what to speak of the melody of the song was written for guitar. This is highly advanced guitar playing combined with Robert Plants voice.... it's the best. Nobody could touch them, they are truly the best rock band ever!
This song, to me, is like the minor tremors before a volcano goes off. The pressure is building and when it goes off it's Whole Lotta Love or the immigrant song.
you2 are awesome. rain song the gr8est song in my life! pls watch jimmy page induct jeff beck into the rock n roll hall of fame. priceless!!!! keep it up girls.
Your reactions are so true to the emotions stirred by the song. This is one of those Led Zeppelin tunes that proves how varied their music was. They are always talked about as being one of the fathers of heavy metal, but they drew their influences from an incredibly wide range of music. Blues, folk, rock n' roll, jazz, surf music, classical, soul, music from non-Western cultures... they ingested it all and what came out was Led Zeppelin music. Well done on another great video.
Led Zeppelin is totally growing on you guys, and Juliet you spaced out a couple of times - omg - and your reactions so subtle and sincere in this video, bless your hearts! I have watched you a second time from start to finish just to re-live the emotion. Amazing! Subscribed.

Wow, they nailed that performance. That is good quality sound for a live show also. I noticed the pick being thrown away also. I always stick mine in my mouth when I want to switch to plucking the strings instead of strumming. When you throw the pick there is always the chance that it will stick to your fingers. For real.
Ok girls, since you loved that
Video, you need to see a earlier Live stage performance, with them Standing on Stage. You see Jimmy lose himself in the mellowness of the melody. It's almost hypnotic to watch him.
And Bonham's drums are epic!
@Less Than Laughing
Wow they sure nailed it.
My two favorite ladies reacting to two of my favorite rockers. I saw them twice and one of the times i saw them they did this wonderful song.
Thank you Doug and that must have been beautiful to watch live!
Guys your reaction is perfect emotional is what The Rain Song is all about🙏🏽❤️
you have discovered the greatest rock band. Their diversity of song and theme cannot be matched
This song can bring out the best in the hardest heart! God Bless you girls for posting this!
Ooooh the chills you to felt when the orchestra came in! Perfect! I felt it too even tho I know this song well! Thank you!!!😁😁😁😁
A great reaction by two of my favorite reactors!
The smile on baby girl's face was the look on mine the first 20 years I listened to Zeppelin. I'm glad to see you kids having fun
Jimmy can play any guitar be it acoustic, electric, nuclear, neutron, or Di-lithium crystals he’s a master. Wish JPJ had been there. Great reaction ladies! You had some very good points for such young people!
Thank you Mark!
Mark: Was this the 94 “reunion” where they disgracefully blew off JPJ???
Great reaction girls! I haven't heard this version before. Very beautiful.
Thank you Martin!
You should check out Bad Company Burnin' Sky. Great song from a great band.
I'm 57 and they still to this day they turn my body into a complete GOOSEBUMP! Great reaction ladies!
Thank you Kev!
my Favorite Led Zep Song!!!!
That was amazingly beautiful in so many ways !! Thank you ladies for doing what you do !! There is so much more beautiful music of the 70’s you should react to!!
Thank you Kevin!
I am so so proud of you girls. You two are now family. The song represents the Four Seasons of Love and relationships. The springtime is so romantic the summer is so much fun the winter is so filled with challenges the fall is the realization of the light in the torch that will must realize and follow
Aww! Thank you Andrew!
Oh my favorite Zeppelin song! YES! Loved the reaction ladies & thank you!
Thank you Jason! We were hoping you would like it!
Ten Years Gone is a favorite of mine.
Thank you Kat!
You two are amazing. You hear so many details in the music, the way the music relates to the lyrics, and you already have figured out a way to talk about it. When you get to college you definitely should take as much music history as you can. You will love it and you'll learn new languages for explaining what you hear.
Thank you bigchunkybubbles!
I was fortunate enough to be of the age when these songs were released. They are the sound of my childhood,my teenhood, my adulthood.
This is how I felt when I discovered them.
Bonzo made me become a drummer.
Zeppelin made me a musician.
Thanks for the flashbacks!
Well done,ladies!
"Ramble On"
It is a beautiful song. Glad you reacted to it. Cheers!
Thank you so much Bruce for your kind words!
Jimmy (the guitarist) wrote this song and he wrote most of the Led Zepellin songs. This DVD concert is the clearest sound ever of a Led Zeppelin ever released in 1994. In that same concert they also played the best version of their song Kashmir ever. Check it out. That video is called No Quarter Kashmir. search it. :)
Their dad must be really proud of his daughters - jeeze any dad would - These girls will be Zep fans for life. and they will teach their "bemused", future boyfriends and girlfriends what real music is about - - - Keep up the good work ladies and say thanks to your mom and dad for me for doing such a good job.
Just.....perfect 👌
I'm a baby boomer.. Always loved these guys.. The music of my youth and these two still have it... The Rain Song is one of my favorites and the song just makes me lay back and smile.
EPIC SONG and great performance, live! Maybe the greatest ending ever...and the chills go up the spine.
Another great reaction ladies. I went to see the show when it went on tour the next year in 1995 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK and they were amazing! Thanks for showing this :-)
Thank you Steve and you are welcome!
It's so fun watching how much great music affects the two of you and it's so cute to see. Another great video and reaction to LEGENDS!
Thank you ken!
Luv you guys! Keep up the great reviews!
Now you KNOW I'm automatically hitting the like button on this one! I love some Plant and Page and some Dana's Faith!
LOL! Thank you Angela! You are the best!
I've been listening to the song for nearly 40 years and it has never failed to bring me to tears of joy. Never.
Impecable chicas page y plant son lo máximo las quiero les mando un abrazo desde buenos Aires Argentina
Gracias Lucas!
you2 are awesome. rain song the gr8est song in my life! pls watch jimmy page induct jeff beck into the rock n roll hall of fame. priceless!!!! keep it up girls.
You Sweeties make me laugh! (You are about my daughters ages.)
This was AM Radio when I was your age!
I'm very glad that you're enjoying Zep.
My favorite Zep song it's beautiful...well at least one of my top 3....keep up the good work girls...
Thank you eddie!
Amazing! Subscribed.
Thank you for your kind comment Chrome Ome! And Welcome to our channel! We hope that you'll like our future videos!
Hey princesses, try Since I've Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin and Achilles Last Stand. And don't forget David Phelps.. just as I am. O Holy Night. No More Night. Water. Your Love and so many more. And don't forget Mark Lowry who wrote Mary Did You Know performing with voctave. You are my favorite princesses of reaction so do me this solid LOL
It's a beautiful song with a beautiful reaction. It's also an example of the range and variety of their work. After the calm and gentility of " Rain Song" , why not go for a total contrast with " Dazed and Confused"!? Keep up the good work ladies.
Seeing Juliet & Mia wearing Led Zeppelin t-shirts and enjoying listening to one of the best songs does me heart so much good. God bless both of them.😊
O cool, you found The Rain Song. You are going to like it.
Loved it!
You can never go wrong with Led Zeppelin! They have so many great songs! Their drummer was considered one of the best drummers in the world! And Jimmy page one of the greatest guitarists!🤟😎🤘👍rock on girls! Loved your reaction!❤️
Tangerine, your time is going to come, and in the evening, 3 ledzeppelin songs you'll enjoy
El mejor guitarrista con el mejor vocalista no puede fallar Saludos desde Argentina
Confirmo, son unas leyendas.
Wow, it sound's so beautiful.
The smiles on your faces says it ALL!!!!
They did Kashmir really well from this same concert. That's one of the songs I emailed you
Impressed you saw he threw his pick ! I’ve been playing along to that exact version for 4 years - easily my favorite version of the rain song. Absolutely beautiful
Thank you SAM's Guitar!
It’s about time you got the Led out! Girls this isn’t L.Z. it’s just Plant and Page. You have to watch the Garden concert when they performed this tune for a real treat! Bonzo had passed away by this time. Don’t know why JPJ wasn’t invited to do this tour. DO MORE L.Z. PLEASE!!!
Awesome video ladies as always....great choice🌹Lets get it yeeeeaaa!
Yee! LOL!
There are no bad live versions of this song but this version has always been a standout.
Next review a Led Zeppelin song I recommend "Since I've Been Loving You" because you'll both flip
I just got back from out of town, and what a real treat this was to come home to!! This is an amazing, beautifully-crafted song, and impeccably well performed by all these artists! I am so glad you got to experience this.
