The story goes something like George Harrison was chatting to Jimmy Page and a party and was telling him he was a big fan of him as a guitarist but didn't think Led Zeppelin were much of a band because they hadn't written a ballad. Then Jimmy and the boys wrote this lovely piece. JPJ shows his work as a multi instrumentalist and Jon Bonham shows great restraint, just giving the song want it needs.

The most classic of albums for me personally from the mighty Led Zeppelin. Played this to death as a 10 year old in 73. My best friends brother had all the Zeppelin albums up to that point and this is the album that resonates with me the most. At that time I was listening to the newly released Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd & Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Not a bad start to my musical journey in life.
Even though Zeppelin is a 70's band for the most part their music is essentially timeless. No matter how many times I hear them they just don't seem to become dated. Quite amazing really.
Wow! Great reaction! Great choice, Nick. One of the top 5 Led Zeps for me. Lex, this one will really burrow into your heart each time you listen. Seriously, you both have simply the best emotional faces for this kind of listening. Keeps me coming back Thank you! Have a great move and a great birthday month.
Hi Nick, Hi Lexi. Hope you are both feeling well. Thank you so much for reacting to the Rain Song... What a beautiful and brilliant track. I really love Led Zeppelin and this album is stunning. I always think how they decided to write the album that followed Led Zep 4... either stick with the same or be brave. I really loved all the first 4 albums..but the band were so brave with this album. We had some tracks with a big reggae vibe , even funk and disco. It is such a eclectic album. Nick.. it was great the way you played the beginning to Lexi and you could see in Lexi's face how much she loved it. Hope all goes well with your move. Thank you for inviting us into your living room and being part of your family. Looking forward to your next reaction. Peace and love from Liverpool UK 👍✌️🤘☮️

I know everyone wants to give you their suggestions, and I'm gonna do it too. Based on what Lex might've missed, I'm gonna highly recommend: That's The Way (Zeppelin III) for how gorgeous it is, The Song Remains the Same (Houses of the Holy) for what a banger with all kinds of cool time changes it is, and Ten Years Gone (Physical Graffiti) for how layered and rich it is. Great to see you guys listening to this -- just a masterpiece, and beautifully arranged and recorded by Jimmy Page.
You picked two of my favorites: "That's The Way" and "The Song Remains The Same". Those two songs DEFINITELY!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY "The Song Remains The Same"!
When I saw the notification about this one, I thought "really - you never heard The Rain Song"? So Lex never heard it. I can see that. You would have had to buy the album back in the day to hear this. It didn't play on the radio. I also thought "Led Zeppelin has probably taken it down already". I'm glad they're letting stuff stay up more. There is also a perfectly perfromed live version of this song on UA-cam that you should watch. This is one of the Led Zeppelin songs I bring up when people start telling me "Led Zeppelin just copied a bunch of blues songs". Really? Point me to a blues artist who tuned their guitar to DGCGCD.
I just love both of your reactions - I love Nick's emotion, it's exactly like me, whether Joni Mitchell or Led Zeppelin or even Steely Dan, there are songs that just resonate something emotional in me and tears can just....happen! Music is such a wonderful thing - great videos guys!
I love your emotional reactions to great music... It affects me the same way! Zeppelin always masterfully balanced the Light and Dark in their music. Special song and a special reaction! Be Well, Stay Safe Peace and Love 🎶☮🎶
Somebody in a thread on a reaction vid recently pointed out the similarity between that one-step chordal slide/slur here, and that in the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now'. Had never made that connection before, as much as I love both songs! Thanks for sharing this. ;>D
The outro is so great because the song is over. Joking of course. This song is so lush and well played and put together. This comes from one of their pretty good albums, and this is one of the songs that makes it pretty good.
If Lex doesn't know Physical Graffiti, I'm sure she'd enjoy Ten Years Gone, which to me maybe edges this out for most beautiful Page guitar composition, though anyone who wants to put this first is right enough. PG also has a bunch of other great stuff she might not have heard.
And in the same vein, don't forget to experience the sublimely introspective and utterly original "That's the Way" from Led Zeppelin III. A must listen Page masterpiece!
One of my favorite Zeppelin tunes, easily the best song on the album. Others I really like are In The Light, Ten Years Gone, and for a real treat Carouselambra. Oh, and Tangerine! Definitely Tangerine.
Great to hear something off of this album. For me this is a highly underrated album by Zep. The tuning that Jimmy is using and the melltron parts by JPJ add so much mood to accompany the lyrics and vocals by Robert that it is so haunting no matter how many times you hear it. Just pure brilliance by Zep !
While Led Zeppelin has so many kick**s songs, Rain Song is my favorite by far. Page's guitar play has a feel that can't be described in words. I stumbled upon the tuning for this song on a UA-cam channel whiled stationed overseas away from my family and dedicated a great deal of time learning it (I am nowhere near as talented as Nick on guitar). It was so rewarding to learn this gem. Post Script: If you aren't familiar, check out the Page/Plant Unplugged version. Jimmy's pick work at the end is worth the watch.
Rain Song and That's The Way from LZ 3 are two of the favs to me with the acoustic side they have .. You should checkout That's the Way . .Robert has many good solo songs also,,, I Believe that is about his boy and I'm In The Mood ,Heaven Knows, ,29 Palms and many others ....
My older brother turned me onto Led Zeppelin 1. I was Blessed to see them on the Physical Graffiti tour. Awesome Concert. Jimmy played his guitar with a violin bow. Kashmir would be a great listen.
I know this song very well as it is one of my favourites. I saw Robert Plant & Jimmy Page play this live with an orchestra and Jimmy did not miss a single note. I am glad you younger people are listening to this wonderful music.
I was obsessed with Zeppelin in high school. I had every bootleg I could find.. Some of their live performances were absolutely epic with 20+ minute drum solos etc... Lex is looking very beautiful tonight... And a beautiful song to boot.
I loved this reaction. It reminded me so much of when I heard this music for the first time as a teenager. The power of deja vu. I know you are not taking requests at the moment but I would love to see a reaction to In The Evening, their late, great song. They are not Robert Plant's children on the cover btw.
I played in a Led Zep tribute band called The Bridge and this was so fun to play live. We did the live version with the tympani parts one of my favorites!
I love it! Listening to these songs makes me cry as well. Remembering my younger days of freedom and going to see the great bands (Stones, Yes, Rod Stewart, David Bowie) and of course Led Zeppelin.
Led Zeppelin one of the iconic greats of the late 60s/ early 70s pioneering bands which other bands can only look/ listen and take note, thank you Nik and Lex for yet another meaningful emotional reaction always do these reviews with so much love of music. A request for the next Yes track you do - Awaken Live 1977 GFTO tour this is the only tour ever where they played 'The Flight Jam' which is the original Intro (not on the Album) to this song, it takes this song to a whole new level and you guys will be the first to react to this unique live track.

It shows the importance of JJP in the band. The man is just brilliant.
John Paul Jones played the mellotron. These are the orchestral sounds we hear. No cellos!

Probably my favorite Zeppelin song and definitely my favorite album. So many great memories attached to it. Nice playing!
Epic song! Great reaction! You guys are too cute. Love your energy. Keep em coming. Peace be with you both.
Aww thank you for your kind words and support! Peace be with you and yours as well! ✨ 💕 - Lex
Love this song!! Nick, your air guitar/cello/keyboard/drums and lip syncing were on point. 😂 Lex, your facial expressions were priceless. You guys have to react to Ten Years Gone from Physical Graffiti. It is my favorite Zeppelin song.
Enjoy your vacation!!!!!
Nick, just like you I haven't listened to this song in a long time (probably 25+ years). Brings back memories from my teen years up through college..
It makes my heart leap with joy to hear "The Rain Song" and to experience the reaction from the two of you. Stay in love with each other and this excellent music!
One word describes this song well. Elegant.
I've been listening to this song, and album, since I was 14 or 15 back when I bought it when it came out. So we got that in common Nick.
Lex looks awesome! When this album came out is was considered something of a disappointment after LZ 4 but time has told a different story and it is s great album. Please do No Quater off it. They continued to evolve and their entire catalog is worth a listen. Top 5 band ever. Rock On. 😎
