Michael Antony honestly did nothing wrong and got treated like shit the entire time. Poor dude
Eddie was wrong about Michael (but the things that he said was not in his best years, that is for sure), he wasn't wrong about Diamond Dave way earlier.
Contrary to what many others say the facts is Michael WAS NEVER kicked out of VH . Anthony decided to leave VH on his own , he was given a choice by both Edward and Alex who said either you stay with us or you go with Sammy and Mike chose Sammy . This notion that Eddie and Alex just got rid of him because Eddie wanted to perform with Wolfgang is the biggest crock ever. Mike told Eddie and Alex to F off . Only long after Mike left did Edward teach Wolf to play bass to get good enough to perform.
@@2216sammythe VH brats are jerks , everyone knows it . Michael was the only one who acted like an adult and a pro in the original band .
were you there?
For sure. He was the only decent guy in the band.
Rush is one of the very few bands that are really good friends
And Genesis.
Rush has always been on a different leave then most rock bands .it was never about money or fame .They were more mature. And the best of friends together
Just read Geddy's book. They had their differences for sure, but butt hurt should only last a little bit amongst friends, or is acted out the next time you get drunk together. I was surprised to hear how much coke Geddy did while performing

Money, ego, and chemical excess have been at the root of all bandmate issues.

Yep at every level more so when you are doing your own material. I know from experience guessing the same for you

Those play a part in a lot of cases....but sometimes, people just can't get along. Having been in my share of bands...good and bad....I can agree with the comment once made around me that "bands are like marriage without the sex" and there's a lot to that. You have to put up with each other's quirks....a lot. You have to depend on each other...a lot. You also have different visions of what you are, what you want, and what you intend the band to be. Mix all those things with all the things you mentioned with pressure and that, I'd say is the root of all bandmate issues.
Pink Floyd. The Eagles. Fleetwood Mac. Everyone who lived in Laurel Canyon between '65 and '77.
pink flloyd never lived there
This is also the answer to the question, "What are the three bands that I wish had never existed?" Actually, Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch were pretty cool.

Thank you Sammy Hagar for sticking up for Mike Anthony to Eddie's uncalled for remarks. Eddie was good at 2 things, playing guitar and attacking people who didn't deserve it.
Eddie was one of the kindest souls ever , you got to stop believing a lot of what is posted . Eddie stopped doing interviews after a while because the interviewers would always add a bunch of things he never said . Every pro guitarist who's ever met Edward thought he was amazing and incredibly kind and exceedingly generous to a fault .
@2216sammy Yes, he was kind to people who didn't know him. To the people closest to him, he treated them like crap. Look at all the things that he did to Mike. Are they untrue? Making him sign away his rights to the band? How about signing away his future earnings to the band? Also, did you ever hear Michael saying anything bad about Eddie? Come on! Not every journalist had to be lying? I don't get involved in things like this on UA-cam. However, Michael is one person that I will defend simply because he is loyal to a fault.
@@2216sammy Dude, you're living in a fantasy world. There are mountains of evidence and first-person testimony of what a jerk Eddie could be, and was, to many people close to him. Alex in some ways was even worse. People love to talk about what a fool DLR was, but go look at what an ass Eddie made of himself at Dime's memorial.
I'm sorry, but he was a jerk.
After I heard the interview where he was talking about Randy Rhoads after he died it changed my whole outlook on Eddie Van halen. Then there's the whole Michael Anthony thing. Eddie seemed like such a miserable prick.

Michael McDonald tracks from Doobie Bros are the worst.
How do you leave out the battle between Johnny and Joey Ramone? The two of them fell out so deeply over a woman around 1980 that despite performing together for another 16 years they spoke literally 1 sentence to each other until Joey’s death in 2001
Exactly
Good point. I saw them in 1987. Stood at the stage. They never even looked at each other. Dee Dee would look over and nod or make eye contact with the band. There was NO communication that I saw between these guys.

You know, it's sort of interesting that the one you said was most famous (that being Journey) was the only one here that I had no recollection of having read or heard about. Then again, I am not a fan of the band so maybe that's why.
Awesome video, appreciate the work and level of detail that went into it.
I liked them heavier than Journey, but they were HUGE. "Don't Stop Believin'"
Journey has had a very long career and sold many units (75mil+) - but even then, they are so utterly UTTERLY dwarved by Aerosmith, Guns'n'Roses or Metallica .. even playing devil's advocat I find no metric that would support the 'most famous' claim. Personally, I'd probably put them over Pantera and Skid Row, and that's about it ...
Love the narration in this video. You have managed to go out of your way to mispronounce every last name. Epic!

3 common factors - everyone was upset and miserable, everyone was talented, and everyone was taking too many drugs. Removing the drugs, they would of enjoyed many more years of success.
From personal experience, you're so correct. Especially when you get into heavy hobbies like cocaine and opiates. Even if you're relatively disciplined enough to make your gigs on time, if you don't have drugs, you're not playing well, if you have drugs, you usually take too much and you're not playing well. And then stick 4 or 5 guys in a van together, with broken air conditioning in Florida in August. Or people are on different drugs/alcohol and criticizing the guys on the conflicting drugs. The irony is, the more successful you get, the more damage you do to yourself and each other. I was afraid I couldn't play if I cleaned up, and just the opposite happened. My musicianship was better than ever. It's unfortunate but it's not a new problem. First off, when and where you are going to work, everyone else is off work and heading there to party. And, especially in the lower rungs of the entertainment industry, playing on stage is the high point of your day, the rest of your day/evening can be boring, lonely, and depressing (especially if you're trying to keep a relationship together and don't want to 'socialize' with the wonderfully charming women you often meet. And ironically, the most destructive vice I experienced dealing with in a band was alcohol. But regardless of the poison, musicians have been familiar the struggles of addiction way back when the term "rockin' and rollin' meant something much different than it came to mean. There's really nothing new under the sun. Except the Internet...
Except when you realize that Simmons and Stanley for example are drug and alcohol free and are a massive pain in the ass, they were responsible for most of the problems. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull never took drugs either but drove off literally every band member with his behaviour. Do we need to talk about Morissey?

At least Mustaine had the dignity and talent to not have to go on tour performing Metallica songs after he was fired.

My ears are still ringing from the Motley Crue Theater of Pain Tour. Good times
Van Halen was all about rock ‘n’ roll. David Lee Roth was all about himself. It’s just a shame that they couldn’t get along I guess because I love the old-school Van Halen.😢 I have no love from Metallica anymore
What you say about Roth is true, but if you do some research behind he scenes you will find out Eddie and Alex were just as big of jerks, just in different ways. Alcoholism was destroying both of them, and the way they treated Michael Anthony was criminal.
