I’ve met a lot of bands because I knew people that would get us backstage passes. Bob jovi was a jerk( early on) Motley Crue was amazingly nice( I didn’t interact with Vince ) Ratt were wonderful, twisted sister were nice. Nikki six was seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. We stayed at the same hotel and I went up to his floor just as he exited his room and we had a 15 minute conversation about regular things. He’s really a genuinely nice person. I got pictures of all of them and they gave me an 8x10 autographed photo. I’m 59 years old and it’s still hanging on my wall today.
@@dr.loomis4221Coincidences like this do happen, it just seems unbelievable in a random UA-cam comment 😃 I'm not saying I believe the person, neither am I saying I don't believe them, all I'm tryna get across is - why do most humans (including me) always seem to be so unbelieving towards these things? Is it because we all know that one "story teller" who's "been everywhere, done everything and seen it all"? I hope I just asked a good philosophical question worthy of a debate instead of just sounding weird. If the latter is the case, then sorry I guess 😃
@@wintergreen777the friend he killed was drunk too! If you are stupid and get in a car drunk that you know the driver is also drunk then you release all rights! You are just as dumb as the driver! As for Vince, hes lost more that you'll ever be able to imagine. Motley Crew is one of the biggest hard rock bands of all time! They pissed away millions and lost just about everyone they loved. People often wonder why they are assholes. Could you imagine working a job that everyone wanted to use you to promote themselves? Asking you for your cars and homes and motorcycles? All you get from fans is constantly talking about your job. You get to go home at the end of the day. These people don't. Its every waking hour for them! They rarily get any time to be real. From 8 years old I wanted to be a rock star. I played in a cover band for 5 or 6 years and I hated it. Drunk people acting out and you really see the true nature of humanity! People are sick and they lie. Rock stars are people too, you just get to see their lives in a microscope. You have no ideal what hes been through! Im sure if he could take a ton of craps hes done back, becoming a rock star would be one of them.
I was never a fan of Kiss and I liked Gene Simmons even less. My cousin met him at a meet and greet a couple of months ago and he said Gene was rude arrogant and you could tell he just didn’t want to be there, he said Gene was giving forced smiles when taking pictures with people. He said Chubby Checker was great going up to people and having a great time.
I met Chubby Checker years ago, and he couldn’t have been more welcoming to his fans. Genuine nice guy who just loves his fans. Gave me a nice little note for my mom, who has always loved him! Huey Lewis is also extremely nice. I’m not a stalker, I promise, I used to work for a record distributor. My boss had worked for label for a long time.
Robin Williams was such a nice, genuine guy from many who met him, I saw him at a distance and he was so nice to everyone he spoke with and was on an individual conversation basis with everyone he spoke with, like genuinely interested in everyone's lives and their story. You know who else was like this ?.., Taylor Hawkins ! Another good guy, God Bless both of them. I met Axel rose once at the good guys electronics store, with a friend in 1990, before the incident of the infamous camera. He was pretty cool and laid back. I was the one who spotted him. My friend was a big fan and started speaking to him. It was late at night. I got him to autograph my hat! It was a pretty neatly done autograph! A few days after that, on the news there was a report that Axel was arrested for hitting a neighbor on the head with a bottle! Go figure. That autographed hat has since been stolen! One day I’ll get the man that did it!!!
@@RogerMullian Give me a description of the hat. I remember it quite well, including where the autograph was. But chances are the hat is still in the possession of the guy who stole it. I doubt he would have gotten rid of it.
I'm ngl the Axl Rose incident had me dead 💀 Idk why but something about the way he ran and dived into the crowd was so goofy looking to me it literally looked like a meme 😂💀
I’m an accomplished guitarist and was playing guitar at Sam Ash in NY years ago when Axel walked up to me, grabbed the guitar out of my hand and started to tell me how to play guitar. There’s a reason that Slash is G&R’s guitarist. Believe me Axel sucks and he’s an asshole. I’m 6’3. I stood up got in his face and told him to give me the guitar that I just bought back or I’d rearrange his face and he ran away like a little boy.

From 1998-2002 I worked at the world famous Troubadour, often voted the best live music venue in the US. Just watch the Elton John movie to see how instrumental the Troubadour can be in a musician's career. One night Gene Simmons came in with some friends. One of the bouncers walked up to him and told him what a big fan he was of him. Simmons went off on him and verbally abused him resorting to an anti-black slur. My friend, the bouncer used the payphone outside(yes there was still a payphone then) and called the Troubadour main office, disguising his voice and telling our manager he knew Simmons was there and was going to F him up (he actually said something worse but I don't want to say it here). The manager went onto the floor and told Simmons and he and his entourage literally ran out of the club in a panic. West Hollywood police actually did an investigation but it went nowhere. The fact that this guy probably put that a-hole Simmons into a panic for weeks still makes me laugh to this day. I saw many famous people do messed up things during my time at The Troubadour. If TMZ had existed at that time, I could have made a pretty penny selling them stories.

"West Hollywood Police did an investigation" Wait...yea I know he was a complete douche but can anyone explain how criminal charges let alone time/payment for an investigation was triggered? If I'm not missing something, yea no kidding it went nowhere, a bigoted a-hole with an inflated ego ran his mouth then ran off like a moronic child (really hope hes become better) but that part getting law involved is surreal, like maybe leaving out Gene assaulted him or something
My buddy and I met Tommy Lee in the Hard Rock pool in Vegas in 2002, we asked to take a picture with him, he was SO COOL, and we all gave the finger during the photo, then we even talked to him about his solo album and how badass it was. One of the NICEST guys you will ever meet.

Gene has what he calls lots of friends... Benjamin Franklin's and many older presidents. Honestly, though, I find it funny that Paul Stanley doesn't even like him anymore.
I respect his honesty! Most people are depressed because they didn’t get their way, or didn’t get something they wanted. He has a perfect example with his mother. Most people wanna play victim, not realizing that everyone has problems. If you’re on top of a building wanting to jump, but you don’t… you’re just seeking attention. I'm a musician (mostly rhythm guitar/singer). I've met so many fellow musicians who have megalomaniacal views of themselves. For some reason some people seem to think because they have a musical talent that they're God's gift to the world. I can't imagine what these guys would be like if they obtained the fame and money of someone like Gene Simmons. Fortunately I've also met some nice level-headed musicians. Now how about a video on musicians who are good decent people (I've been told by someone who's personally met Ronnie James Dio that he was one of the nicest people in the world ).

I’m a huge 80’s rock fan and it blew my mind how many people I hung with who had the pleasure of meeting Dio would go on and on about what an incredibly good guy he was. I never got to meet him but it really shook me when I heard he passed away. RIP Ronnie James Dio and thank you for sharing your immense talent with us fans. 🙏🏻❤️
@@christinelyman6942 It definitely strikes a chord in ya, 🤘♥️🤘DIO Yeah Man... I was born in 76' and even as early as 16 years old I often wondered how it was going to make me feel when all these founding Metal guys start dying closely together in old age.
Only going by listening to interviews... Ronnie James Dio: I got the impression Dio was the guy who talked a lot weaving a fictional account of everything as he presented himself as the innocent one in the room. Don Henley: He comes off as very full of himself. Dominates an interview and will just take over if you allow it. But you have to admit he has written some of the most popular songs and more of them than most in addition to having a very good singing voice, taking care of that voice and going out aiming for perfection in every performance and doing it also playing drums. Ritchie Blackmore: Another great talker who seems to make poetry of revising history. He also seems like he has a delicate ego and an inferiority complex.
I met Gene Simmons and Kiss in 1975, and he was very nice to me back then. They were guests of Honor for the Guinness Book of World Records, Worlds longest kiss, at Woodfield Mall near Chicago. I had recently saw them on the TV show, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, and at a free show they played a couple weeks later at NIU University, where I was attending school. At the mall, I approached Simmons, and he was very open to talking, and he walked with me, in full make up and costume, with his arm around my shoulder, from the Mall lounge where the contest was, all the way to the record store, where they signed autographs! When you're a 20 year headbanger, it doesn't get any better than that! When I talked to Ace Frehley and Peter Criss at the autograph session, their eyes were all bloodshot, and they didn't remember playing at my University a week earlier. LOL
Can you imagine what would happen to Gene in this day and age if he went about bragging about how many little girls he’d slept with. The fact that none have come out to sue him in this #metoo age tends to confirm what I always believed..he was a disrespectful braggart pos and was lucky to get laid once. I’ve never quite worked out what Cher was thinking.
@@virginiaviola5097 First, they were no 'little girls' and they wanted to get in his bed, so no use for fake metoo. Second, Gene was very popular as Demon, weather you like it or not. Third, keep your poison to yourself.

A friend at work and I were talking about our first rock shows. When I mentioned mine was Kiss back in 1979 (terrible show), she told me her brother was a huge, die hard, life long Kiss fan, and he won back stage passes from a rock radio station (he was the 8th caller). He said they all acted like they were bored out of their minds and it was a total inconvenience to meet their fans. Whole thing was over in 15 minutes, and they made zero effort to be gracious to their fans, who’d made them all millionaires. Gene was no worse than the other three. When they were being ushered out, one of the others asked the usher “WTF was that all about?” Usher just ignored them. Buncha instant former Kiss fans made right then.
They actually suck. No talent. That's why they have to dress like clowns.... I can't believe they even have a fanbase. Reminds me of people like Kid Rock.
I'm not an expert, but there's alot of reasons why suicidal people announce it. For some, it could be to see if anybody cares. But I think the most common reason is simply because we're wired to avoid dying. Nobody is totally rational. We have conflicting urges and impulses. We hesitate. We try to override our nature. Sometimes succesfully. People who have survived attempts at jumping to their deaths have reported that the moment they were surrounded by air they realized they made a HUGE mistake, and all of a sudden they wanted to live more than anything.
@@debbiehoyt9018 and those who announce it may know they just need someone to talk to about things. It isn't the elephant in the room (suicide). It is everything that is leading to the elephant in the room (suicide).
I've actually met a bunch of these guys. Just be cool, contain your excitment (you're excited to meet them but they are NOT excited to meet you), don't try to have a long conversation with them, and just respect that they might not be in the mood to take a photo.
I just saw him a few months ago buying up 50’s memorabilia from a diner in Delray Beach Fl. He’s all plastic surgery face and looks pathetic and phony.
😂 Tommy Lee "I hate taking pictures, I'm not here to take pictures with you!" Mr Camera Shy didn't say that to Pamela on the yacht. He must have been really angry when those pictures "leaked".
As far as Simmons goes when I lived in Cal. I hung around with a few people who knew him and saw how much of a dick he really is. I was a huge Kiss fan and just a few hours around Gene I couldn't even listen to their music anymore.
@@okjeffy6581 you poor thing. They're cheesy, trash, costume performers who make retarded "rock". Some of us consider Jimmy Hendrix, David Bowie and Feddy Mercury, to be true rock musicians. Kiss IA a gimmick. Its not real or tasteful. And this comes from someone who served Gene Simmons, and had a good experience. It may sound like I hate him but it's just his music
Many decades ago I met Gene Simmons backstage after a KISS concert (along with both Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick). While Eric signs something for me, Gene ignored me and signed a woman's cleavage with a magic marker. She had handed Gene a KISS vinyl record cover to sign. With a smirk on his face, he scoffed at it, set it aside, and signed what he wanted to sign.
The American Till Lindemann. I think Lindemann models himself on him. Lindemann at the age of 60 still tries to bed groupies and some of them are young enough to be his granddaughters. I have never heard of any rock star over the age of 40 doing that.
Thornton's 'incident' sort of gets a pass...though he may have seemed passive-aggressively petty, he made it known that he wanted to do the interview a certain way and they blew that all off. They didn't take him doing music seriously when that was the point of the interview.
I met Him working as a lowly, "Extra", a few years ago. Mr Thornton got out of a SUV, saw the ,"Ear To Ear", smile on my face and came up to talk with Myself and the guy I was partnered with for the scene. That is almost unheard of as normally the stars don't pay any attention to the,"Background", actors. He was as nice as can be and chatted with us until a set direction was called out. No business putting Him on a list with that nasty gargoyle Simmons!
I agree, if the person was instructed that the conditions of the interview were to focus on his new musical project and the interviewer deliberately went against those conditions, that's disrespectful and honestly if I was him I would've just walked out immediately.
I agree in that if the interviewer didn't like that then he shouldn't have done the interview, since this was explained to him beforehand. If the interviewer was known name I would say the Thorton was potentially being a jackass (even with laid out parameters because his name is the whole reason he has the interview to begin with), however in this instance he almost certainly did this interview with probably some local dj... the type of interview he would potentially get if he wasn't a famous actor, so in that case he wasn't necessarily using his name to get a big interview, therefore either respect his wishes or don't do the interview. It's pretty shady to take the interview if you went in knowing that was the case.... however maybe the interview was set, and upon Thorton showing up he laid those parameters in which case I wouldn't blame the interviewer for doing what he did.
I DISAGREE . I met Gene Simmons in public by chance. I approached him maintaining a respectful distance, shook his hand and asked for a picture with him. He happily obliged then started a conversation with me. He was very nice!
only 6 years for trying to kill your wife? while people are doing 20 years for drug related crimes. And only a 1000? to kill someone? makes me nervous what people will do for so little

I met Gene Simmons once randomly outside a restaurant during the summer in BC, Canada, and he’s actually a really funny and nice guy. Spent 10 solid minutes without paparazzi, no crowds, no body guards, as if he was just another summer goer. Didn’t once get the notion he was a guy you wouldn’t want to be around
I used to do sound, worked many shows over many years on a variety of different levels. Can confirm Marilyn Manson is a total prick, berating his crew and bandmates. That's why so many people have come and gone in his band, and many good players refuse to deal with his BS (John 5, Tim Skold). I've worked a few 30 Seconds To Mars shows, and I never noticed anything too out sorts with Jared Leto, though he does tour on the cheap and carries less production than most bands of that level. Other massive pricks include: Danzig, who has short boy syndrome, is getting fat, and is balding. To the point where he orders no one to record the show or take pictures of him. He actually stopped in the middle of a song because he saw someone in the balcony taking video with their phone. He ordered security to kick the guy out and seize the phone. He's a total prick to his own crew and the local venue staffers. He's pretty deaf from all the years of decibels, so his monitor demands are a bit outlandish, especially he's like holding the mic sideways pointing away from his mouth and complaining that he can't hear himself. Dave Mustaine. I love Megadeth, but there's a reason why it's Dave with a revolving door of side players and can't keep crew for more than a couple tours. DeadMau5. For being a DJ who just hits the PLAY button on someone else's music, he sure is demanding and thinks he's as incredible as the musicians he samples. Zakk Wylde when he's drinking. Total prick, and that means his guitar tech, Moby, has to be a total prick as well to meet the demands of what is transpiring. When Zakk is sober he's great. Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde). I have to annotate the Concrete Blonde part because most people have forgotten about her, except her inflated ego. They were sound checking on their severely undersold show, and because the tour ended up being so low budget they couldn't bring an opening act with them, so promoters got local bands to open the shows. Anyways, the local band started loading in during their sound check and she totally lost her mind, started yelling at everyone, demanding the locals wait outside in the back until she was done. Jewel was playing part of a multi act fly date show, and demanded we shut down the bar before she go on. Morrissey demands that no meat be allowed in the venue at all at any point in the day. Not even for crew, not even for the attached bar, not even during load in. But the best story is..... Otep Shamaya. I was working monitors at the local venue where OTEP was the support band for Static X. The Static X crew had warned me of her, and even her own bandmates were talking shit about her while they were loading in (She was nowhere to be found for load in). So they come out for the show, and after the first song she comes over to start yelling at me. I guess she didn't see the stairs next to the monitor console, which are well lit and even has neon glow-in-the-dark gaff tap outlining it, so she starts "FIRST OF ALL...." then BAM, tumbles down the stairs. I jump down to help her up, she grabs my arm to get up, and she's all "YOU COULD HAVE FUCKING WARNED ME ABOUT THAT!" even though there was literally no chance to and you'd have to be blind to not see the stairs. Anyways, she yells at me, goes back out, starts complaining to the crowd about everything under the sun (the city, the venue, Static X, the venue staff....). The Static X guys were bustin out laughing when I told them about her tumble later on. Chillest rockstars that are easy going include Joan Jett, Flaming Lips, Hank III, Drive By Truckers, Brandi Carlisle, Ice Cube, Tech N9ne, Bad Religion, GWAR, Cannibal Corpse.... All pretty easy to work with.
Met Jerry Gaskill, drummer from Kings X after a show. He was really chill to. Answered all me n my buddies questions. Talked with him for like n hour. Too bad Dug n Ty wouldn't come out of the bus lol
Otep. Lol that's how a lot of hyper man-hating feminist act. Should've said her name is culturally appropriating the Egyptians, and s check her white privlage. Haha
Sad that during KISS' heyday in the late 70's, many lonely depressed teens sought their music as the one thing that kept their hope and strength up. Obviously Gene Simmons never lived a normal teen life in America.
I met and sometimes played with, a lot of people during my time as a working musician. Hands down, the nicest was Dave Grohl, during the Nirvana years. After that, were the guys from Pantera, who regularly showed up at a house gig we had running a jam night at a little underground college bar next to TCU in Ft.Worth, TX. This was just after they returned from Russia, and the singer was in LA. You would never guess those guys were musicians-they told me who they were, I had no idea. We played the first set, then it would descend into anarchy. and you wouldn't believe some of the people that showed up. They never got on the stage, though. Neil Peart was a very shy, self-deprecating guy that I met about 20 years later, after I got out of all that and moved back home-he came to a museum I worked at, and I told him his bike might fall over in the soft sand in the parking lot. Anyway, I wound up talking to him for about half an hour. Rick Derringer was a hoot, he would seek out jam nights at bars in the DFW area whenever he played at the Caravan, got to play "Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo" with him. I guess all the idiots come from LA, mostly, because I have always been treated with the utmost respect from these guys, and many others. It must be something in the water there.
A lot actors, musicians, athletes and politicians seem to fall into this syndrome. Any combo of fame, fortune and influence make them feel above it all. They seem to get a false sense of power.
That was not my experience with meeting Jimmy Osmond a few times! He was down to earth and genuinely, a nice guy to talk to. I even saw him at a local Smith's grocery store and he greeted me with a smile and a hello.
Maybe talentless, jealous trolls who have achieved nothing of note in their own empty lives, shitting on their talent gets on their nerves after a while.
I often wonder why someone who started one of the all time best bands ever seen or heard would actually say something as hurtful towards not just the fans of his group who bought the albums, saw the concerts and stuck with them through the good and bad times, but frankly anyone who has been dealing with or knows somone who was sucessful at his harmful words for all to see?? How does that make you feel Gene? once you put it on the internet it doesnt ever go away no matter what you say or do or try to cover it up, its there forever and makes me absolutly sick that the band I loved all those years has been a lie and as long as you got the money from us I guess everything else goes out the window.....litrally
I totally agree with Gene. His mother was a wonderful lady. Gene has his own beliefs. I admire him for saying what others are afraid to say because of public scrutiny. If someone is struggling with depression and wanting to jump off a building "then jump". attention seeking is different than real depression. Robin Williams didn't seek attention he just done it. Love Robin Williams. What Gene was saying wasn't directed towards anyone but to the "depressed people that are really attention seekers" or "Poor pitiful me people."
I've always told people to go down to a children's hospital for just one little measley 3 hour afternoon.... then come back to me and tell me your... "reasons" for your suicide. I guarantee you' the depression will not further from the experience the depression will be guilt-tripped-ripped fast outta You reeeely hard ln a knee jerking fashion. Like ohhh ? 🤔 so you put on a smile in front of the kid to cover your suicidal mental health problem and didn't want to explain to him about anything to do with anything huh ?, especially after that Kid telling You All I just want to do is go outside and feel the grass on my feet for the 1st time. I'm happy about this 7th surgery they told me to keep working towards my goal one day.
If you don't like what people say don't listen to them. It's a free country and offending someone is not against the law. Your feelings don't override his freedom of speech, and visaverses.

There is a saying: NEVER KNOW YOUR IDOL. I am a huge KISS fan but if I ever met them, I wuold just ask them to sign one of my vinyl records say congratulations and then just hit the road. NO WAY, just love the band but I really do know Paul and Gene are not what you would call good humble guys.
Well Gene is my idol, well, the character he personifies on stage. As a person what I like about him is what he has fulfilled in his life. I mean the guy can die in peace knowing that he is not going to be in deep water as he gets older. An average person must work hard in order to get old with dignity. Life is tough dude, And we are not young forever.@@BUlrich-dw7xi
@martinrodriquez8164 I got to hang out with Ace Frehley not only was he awesome but on the shy side. But no I would not want to meet anyone I idolize anymore because as the years go on you find out what douche bags they really are. Luckily I all the musicians I met were very nice to me
Gene only appoligized because he was losing airtime on the radio stations he didn't care about the feelings of those he hurt with his words he thinks he can get away with things because he is in one of the biggest bands in the world i lost a lot of respect for him especially what he said about Robin William's death.
Sounds a lot like Laura Ingraham when she insulted a mass shooting survivor and only apologized when she began to lose numerous sponsors. Had that not happened...would she have bothered at all?
Simmons really put his foot in his mouth and he was talking through his hat. That doesn't make him a monster. It makes him human. He f'd up and he apologized. I would not regret meeting him. I have always loved the band.
I gotta say, I met Gene Simmons before he spoke at a veterans' charity event. He's a lot different from who he makes himself out to be in interviews and onstage. He spoke very highly of America, service men and women, and he was very nice and down-to-earth.
Jared Leto strikes me as the type to make your drink in another room, not take no for answer, looks in the mirror every morning and tells himself youre chaniging the world with your creepy good looks, like a psychopath that spotted their prey
I met Ian Gillan from Deep Purple in the '90s I went to a concert with my cousin and I said you are not going to believe who is behind us. He said who? Ian Gillan and when we went to the bar after the concert I was talking to him and I got his autograph which I bloody lost when I moved house I never found it again I was gutted. He was the nicest person I've ever met very down to earth and didn't mind at all me talking to him.
I didn't regret meeting Peter Buck in person. Though he wasn't like that at the time I met him, or, not 'exactly' stopping to talk with him. We just smiled & said hello to each other in passing.
Hilarious title, my buddy met Gene Simmons 10 years ago. Him and his daughter were in a hotel and they saw him in the hallway. He gave them his autograph and let him take numerous selfies. They chatted for about ten minutes before he had to leave. Said he was the nicest guy ever.
I can second that. I met him in a music store west Edmonton mall in 2000 the day after they had a show (that I went to). After I spotted him and got a conversation going, we hung out for over an hour walking around the mall. I was 19 at the time and because I knew a lot about kiss for my age, I think I validated kiss’s relevancy to younger fans to him that he took a liking to me. He asked me more questions than I did him. Eventually I had to go back to work (which was a different music store in the same mall) so he came back with me, signed a cd for me and some co workers. I called him a cab we shook hands and that was that.
When I was 15 I went to New York and saw a guy who I think might have been Axl Rose. I'm not completely sure, but this happened in New York, where you never know WHO you'll see. I decided not to talk to him because he has this reputation.
We saw Sebastien Bach walking down the street on lower eastside, flipping his hair every few steps. We laughed at him. Definitely NOT interested in meeting him.
My band opened for Leto. Worst person I’ve ever met. I asked his brother ( who is the drummer) why he doesn’t kick his ass? He said his brother pays the bills…
no offense intended, Gene Simmons is really super nice and polite. I met him in LA on business a few years back and he was nothing but sincere. We all might say something that does not go over right. .but he was a nice person.
Gene can be a real asshole, but it seems that for everything he says that makes him look like a jerk, he says or does something that appears to be genuinely nice. He's like all of us, just human.
I actually got to know Gene Simmons when I was in my 20s working at a grocery store in Beverly Glen California. He came in all the time as he lived in the neighborhood at the time and I got to know him as a 'customer' over several years and he knew me as a 'kid who worked at a grocery store. I eventually became the night/closing manager and thats when he usually came in. He was very nice to me and we had some cool conversations but I noticed he doesn't like stupid people, drunks, 'privileged' people or crybaby types. I saw it go down in the store. If someone makes completely stupid/drunk/idiotic comments to him he responds with high level high vocabulary insults that stupid people dont understand and they usually walk away dumbfounded - but anyone with intelligence around will notice and usually laugh as he could be pretty funny in that witty way. After a while of seeing this go down, I think he does it to entertain the 'smarter' people within ear shot, as several times when I noticed it he got a chuckle out of me and he gave me a knowing nod...so yeah, if you're stupid you're right - you'd regret meeting him, but then again I'd regret meeting you too haha
man its funny how back in the 80s 90s and even the early early 2000s if you saw someone recording a show it was a huge deal...now EVERYONE more focuses on viewing the show through their phone rather than just enjoying it through their own eyes and vibing
@franklorence320 like we sat down and talked at the Rock & Brew opening in St. Louis. They couldn't have been cooler. Not sure why saying that they were good guys is a bad thing.
I've met Gene Simmons and Robin Williams. Both were kind and friendly. I spoke with Gene for some time, actually. We he offerd me cherry pie from the catering table, so we ate pie together and chatted.
@@Killerkarotte1 Not believing it, OK. But care to elaborate as to why? I've befriended people who were said to be 'difficult'. They never were difficult with me. Mismatch of characters? Wrong attitude? I'll give you an example. When I was a young conscript, we had an Lt1 who was very much 'by the book' (which wasn't really usual in the Dutch Military and certainly not in the Airforce). Most everybody hated him. Our Lt2 however was a young popular guy. I was one of the few who didn't like him, cause I didn't trust him to be sincere. On the other hand, I had a fine relationship with the Lt1. I could trust him to play exactly by the rules. As we had more interactions, he noticed I was much more at ease with him than with the Lt2 and he asked why, as he knew most guys liked the Lt2 and hated his guts. So I explained and he just nodded. Not long after, I was chatting with a US 1Lt (I was on a nuclear base in Germany. I'm Dutch though) whom I talked with about life in Europe vs The US a lot and the conversation happened to land on the Dutch Lt1, whom he knew very well personally. I couldn't believe my ears when he told me this: The Lt1 had been reprimanded 2 times for being to amicably with conscripts and had gotten a last chance before being fired. Later I found out that the Lt was a lawyer and regularly helped guys who got in trouble with the (military) law. Due to circumstances involving my sargeant's health and the Lt's 'by the book' mentality, I missed my promotion to Kpl and they had to pull some tricks to prevent me (and a mate) to be outranked by newbies, as a TacEval was coming up and we two were the most experienced conscripts, so they wanted us to be questioned by evaluation officers. Sometimes nót going by the book can prevent a whole lot of fuss. A few months later I retired from service and was called to the Lt's office. He had written me a very praiseful testimonial, including a Mea Culpa explanation as to why I didn't get my promotion to Kpl. One persons friend is another's foe. How come you're so sure Gene isn't a nice guy? At least sometimes and to some people. Do you know him personally? I've met some pretty famous people through my work and they're just like regular people. Some you like, some not so much. A lot depends on your own attitude. I've always been polite, but never took any bs. As soon as 'the difficult ones' got that, they usually behaved pretty normal. Far as I know, Gene is a very busy (74 yr old) man with a triple PhD (he worked as a post doctorate at Harvard) who runs several businesses, including a record label. Can you really blame him for not always being in the mood for obligatory tricks with Kiss? He likes performing, not the publicity stuff. Like so many others!

Nikki six was seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. We stayed at the same hotel and I went up to his floor just as he exited his room and we had a 15 minute conversation about regular things. He’s really a genuinely nice person. He said Chubby Checker was great going up to people and having a great time.

LOL

Bojack Horseman "the view from halfway down" is probably pretty accurate then.

He was in the right. I don't blame him one bit.
I agree, if the person was instructed that the conditions of the interview were to focus on his new musical project and the interviewer deliberately went against those conditions, that's disrespectful and honestly if I was him I would've just walked out immediately.
@@josephbieke6138 Cool story, and absolutely agree! Also, that interview where Ace Frehley stole the spotlight was classic.

Sebastian was a dumb youngster too far into drugs and alcohol but he’s way better now. He has a good heart
And he had the rock pipes of a freakin god. True story!
Alot of "dumb youngsters" got worse with age or relapsed very hard.
Other massive pricks include:
Danzig, who has short boy syndrome, is getting fat, and is balding.
Haha

I hung out with Dime & Vinny a few times at Texas Billiards in Arlington in 1995 and 1996.
Met Dave Grohl twice in a London rock bar. He was extremely cool and nice.
Most of them didn't come from LA....they went there to become famous.
As to Peter Buck, shame on the flight crew that over-served him.

I take it this was sometime in the 80s.
@@okjeffy6581 1995 for Gene and 2010ish for Robin.
why do people on this board keep citing robin williams as a "rock star"?!
