The Weil's disease form of leptospirosis is contracted from the urine of infected rats. The bacteria get into your body through cuts and scratches or through the lining of the mouth, throat and eyes after contact with infected urine or contaminated water. It is a rare condition in the UK.
I recently got badly ripped off by copart, I bought a BMW 435D, cat N because of a small dent on a quarter panel, it was running and driving and because of that it was quite dear, After the car was delivered we noticed it was slightly off a cylinder, we presumed it was a bad injector, compression was about half what should have been, so then we thought bad hydraulic lifter, but no. After digging deeper we discovered a bent con rod, it is costing a fair bit of money to fix, but copart said it was tough luck, we should have checked the car before we bought, even though buyers are not allowed in to view the stock. Talk about a rip-off joint.
Yes you are allowed to view ! Was your own fault for not going to view and paying too whack ! Welcome to the life of buying from auctions pal
I once parked my van up for two weeks over Christmas, came back in January wouldn't start, mice had gotten in and chewed all the immobiliser wires😂 to our mechanics credit he fixed it in a couple of hours 👍🏻
What a gorgeous little motor, it deserved another lease of life, wonder if the prevous owner found stuff wasnt working and doctored it! Well done fellas!
Seeing the roof spring into life was just so rewarding....and I'm only watching a video !!! Well done team !
Another great video guys thoroughly enjoyable- I think you'll find 'Bridgend' is in South Wales not somerset 😂
Not a mistake, it’s called Bridgend recycling in Kent
@@w33ksy the commenter is aware of that but at the end of the video, Chris says Bridgend Somerset.
Rats are actually really clean, if it stinks of piss it will be mice. That poo was quite big for a mouse but rats are like the size of orzo, quite a lot bigger (source, I've kept mice and rats). Mice are incontinent, they constantly leave a trail of urine behind them, rats don't. This is what kestrels track, to them mice urine is like florescent, this is how they locate and prey on them :)
Rats are really clean yes?? 😂😂😂😂 biggiest oxymoron iv ever heard!
I love kestrels
Great video as always Rob.
Like you two, I'm a Kent boy so might be wrong, but pretty sure Bridgend is Wales and Bridgwater is Somerset. 😅
Correct
Bridgend Recycling in Ashford Kent is where he goes...........🙄
Yeah I know. Did you watch the video yet? They talk about Bridgend being in Somerset rather than Wales. 🤓
Hello Chris & Rob, what a mess from the ratty, so pleased you was wearing gloves!! What a smile on your face Rob when the roof retracted!
Well done both for sorting out this lovely convertible! Best wishes from Lincolnshire!
Hey Rob, don't throw the diagnostic/OBD plug away > A vehicle performance / trip computer / diagnostics tool that uses an OBD II adapter to connect to your OBD2 engine management / ECU. It includes a lot of connection profiles that gives you some extra features for many vehicles.
Another great vid , If your throwing it away throw it my way 😂 , trying to get a bit of a channel going and could put it to better use than the bin could 😉
@@Lee.1985. I'm sure if you ask Rob he will give it to you.
Be a bit wary of those solder connectors, the solder doesn't penetrate the wires properly. Proper solder and heatshrink or crimps are better.
pretty common thing with the old Mickeys -- amazing the damage their little molars can do ! -- suppose the lucky thing was they didnt gnaw the roof canvas
Much as it's a bugger to find rodent damage, at least you have found the cause of your issues. Now it's just a case of being thorough and methodical and you'll nail it. Top work 🙌
Boys, Bridgend is in Wales Bridgewater is in Somerset both along way from Kent though. Nice job on that BMW.
Amazing 👍👍well done boys 👏👏
There’s also a Bridgend in Wales 🏴
There’s lovely 🥰
Always amazed how you guys run a problem to ground then fix it. Great job.
Although wasn't a mouse for me I had a wiring issue too and the frustration and time spent taking things apart to find it will never be forgotten. The feeling when it's found though! 😊
Get some Autosmart bio brisk to clean the mouse urine. It will kill all the bacteria and get rid of the smell.
You should try a cleaner called elbow grease. Its only a couple of quid and a decent cleaner . Breaks down ground in dirt good with stubborn stains .
Worth a try definitely
Hi Rob, more of these videos would be great, it's nice to see you guys saving these type of cars... Keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks
Thank you that is very kind
Hi Rob and Chris, that motor will make someone's summer a great memory 🦾🦾🌻🌻🇮🇪🇮🇪
Would like to say I have watched you guys for such a long time I think Rob and Chris are such a good people and honest love your videos keep up the good work
On the newer 2 series if the rear cluster goes, just give them a thump and they start working again! My dad did it on his and we couldn’t believe it started working again 😂
Hello Rob and Chris, another great video and the Fiat looks great. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Good video guys , i know its nearly summertime and its convertiable weather but we need to see video of the boat sailing sooon
Just be careful with that 101, it can be corrosive on leather paint, Ive diluted it 1:8 to get it not to strip the paint
Hi guys always love your shows and haven't missed a beat in the last 4 years or so!
Ive been in Somerset all of my 75 years and I've never heard of a Bridgend in Somerset.... The only Bridgend I've ever known of is the Bridgend in Glamorgan South Wales.
Bridgend recycling is in Kent
@@w33ksy they didn't say it wasn't.
Much better to find visual issues with wiring rather than hidden faults, easy repair too, great work, sounds too cheap aswell. keep up the good work
Bridgend is in South Wales , Bridgwater is Somerset boys .
Wiring issues on cars are a potential nightmare so well done on getting to the root of the problem. That is does look a very nice car at a bargain price - I'm not a BMW fan but even I could be tempted! Liked the overhead camera work BTW your video production is to a really good standard.👍
Is it bad to see things go a little belly up and enjoy it?? because it shows the problem’s anyone could encounter. Glad it was all included in the video guys 👍🏻
Chris and Rob is there anything with car repairs you both can NOT do....i love watching you both turn a mess into beauty
👍🤜🏽
..or Bridgend, South Wales, which is just down the road from me.
Wow. Glad you found the wiring issues and cleared the rat nests. Well done Guys.
Nice turnaround and great car for someone. Well done guys. 👍👍👍👍
Hey Rob, unfortunately you got what the name suggested, BMW, Boot Mouse Wee. Thankfully it was only in the tail gate. 🤣
19:22 I like Jennychem's Superclean 101. But I also like G101 by Autosmart (which previously used to be Rob's favourite).
Which is best? There's only one way to find out... *FIGHT!!* 🥊💥😃
G101 is brilliant. Just releases grime and rinse off.
CRACKING JOB ON THE BMW 125I CONVERTIBLE. THE CAR IS ALREADY FOR SUMMER BLASTING FUN.
I HAVE A BMW 325I AUTO ITS SUCH A DESIRABLE CAR TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH THE ROOF DOWN IN THE SUNSHINE. KEEP IT UP LADS.
Is minging a Kent word. Comes from Scotland I think rob. Watching in Aberdeen. Keep em coming excellent content. Gordon.
i love job satisfaction like that, everything from finding and rectifying a problem, then down to the before and after of the cleaning, good stuff that jennychem
that white box is for the rear pdc sensors and it common for that rear corner to leak water and kill the units sat in water
Guys …really enjoyed the video but I really feel you are selling yourselves short. That is a beautiful rebuild and worth 2k more than you are asking. You are both so thorough and make sure the buyer is getting an exceptional car. I find it very therapeutic watch your rebuilds …thank you. Btw I live in France but come from near lLeeds Castle so like to see the weather in kent watching your videos. 😊
I think that other module is for the parking sensors.
Well done Rob you definitely worked hard on this one with Chris help well done fantastic video really enjoyed this one !!!
£3.5k is an absolute bargain! 😮 well done lads, smashed it out again 👏
Bridgend in Wales too! Same as Newport, I can think of 3 immediately, IOW, Wales and Shropshire!
And East Yorkshire, and Fife
Bridgend is in Wales and Somerset.
Bridgend is in South Wales not Somerset. You'll be upsetting the welsh...
Bridgend recycling is in Kent. Nothing to do with south wales
I would love to see you guys put an apple car play in a car like this - I bet it would attract more people to buy, not that you are short of people wanting to purchase. Keep up the good work - I wish I lived closer if you needed an apprentice ;)
Check the drainage holes they get blocked on convertible BMWs had an issue on My Dad's 650i theres about 6 drain holes are the back and water ingress damages components
Nice to chat the other week Rob, shame you didn’t want my sons car in the end but hey that’s life, we managed to get his private plate sorted and he’s been paid out now, hate hit and run drivers.
When I had a roof problem on my Astra G convertible, I could only open the boot with a key. Once I changed the boot solenoid, the roof worked. As I understand it, if the roof ECU thinks the boot is open, the roof won't work.
A few years ago I parked my scimitar in the garage after a tip run. A mouse set up home and did a lot of damage .😢
I don't know what's more disconcerting; the rat in the boot, or the location of that fuse box. Great video as always.
Looks cracking what a turnaround! 👍👍👍
300 thousand subscribers in a couple of weeks. Cracking job again.
I had issues with the light in the boot not coming on and the alarm going off randomly on my two 5-series - and it was that "swan-neck" of wires to the boot lid fracturing. With repeated flexing the wire work-hardens and breaks.
Very interesting chaps. BTW Bridgend is in Wales - you were maybe thinking of Bridgewater which is in Somerset.
Bridgend recycling is in kent. Where you’re getting south wales from I have no idea lol
I always thought BMW cars always have the mirrors and indicators deleted as standard
Ha ha!
I think you guys should treat yourselves to a coffee machine, it will pay for itself in no time. Thanks for the videos.
I had similar rodent damage this year on my Suzuki sv650 wet winter they preferred the bike shed Solder sticks to the rescue again, they are amazing in close quarters 😊
Hello Rob and Chris, this BMW is looking amazing now with all the work done, due to a mouse/rat, it caused alot of issues with the roof and light.
Superclean 101. Leather safe take it. Like a heavy APC. Just used JennyChem fruit disinfectant. Think prefer vulflora for smell
Didn’t even know about Bridgend in Somerset🤔 only Bridgend I know is in South Wales…😀
Recommend a Hypochlorous base product to safely decontaminate the rodent droppings and urine. Also wear gloves and N95 class mask.
Cracking job!
Instead of WD40 get onto Bulldog BDX. Brilliant stuff.
The little white box unit is the pdc control module. It’s surprising how much damage rodents can do! Little buggars get everywhere! Great video as always.
If that’s abs light is still on it’s normally the abs ring on the driveshafts. Common as muck on the BMWs.
Brilliant work and great problem solving!! Very entertaining and interesting to watch. Hope both of you are well, take care
You said door mirror Rob! Chris finally got to you! 😂
Last summer I was asked to look at a BMW convertable with an identical roof to this. Roof would not work. Foam round pump motor was saturated. The pump fluid had leaked out and that was the cause. Refilled it, and it promptly vomited the entire reservoir into the foam. It turns out that the system is sealed, but since system extends and retracts the hydraulic rams, when rams extended it created a vacuum in the system which sucked the sealing ring off the bottom of the reservoir, enabling system to empty. Alternatively, System may be left with permanent pressure in reservoir, and oil leaks out over time. I left the removable "Fill" screw on the reservoir loose half a turn to overcome this problem, and as long as the customer does not roll the car it will not leak again. If they do roll it, this will be the least of their worries.
Bridgend is in South Wales Bridgewater is in someerset
Just finished watching south mains auto I’m sure all the guys know Eric and he’s just repaired a RAV4 with rodent damage it seems very prevalent on certain year cars, like everyone else commenting be careful around rodent urine, great post showing the perils of repairing autos
Could be an M Series....you want to stick a Motormouse badge on the back, no doubt it has an Autocat converter on it as well
Just clicked on your upload now fellas been sick 🤢 for like two weeks guys but ya know what always makes a good evening when you fellas upload i always watch your videos guys no fail only in to it 3:34 mins but akeays interested what and how you fix up these vehicles fellers vert interesting channel to watch iv watched for years and will cary on doing carry on the brilliant work guys, thsnks for the vodeo man!.✨👍👍👍✨🎭✨🎭✨👍👍🗽✨
Hi rob and Chris, great job on the wee BMW, rob well work out about the boot and the wireing, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
When they take a bit to do ,can you add a before shot ,when you do the final video
Well done guys what a lovely car now
Rob couldn't you get the wooden interior bits carbon fibre wrapped?
Once again another great video like you say not one of the easiest car to sort out. But got there in the end keep up the great content.
Lovely turnaround and a nice cheap car for someone. Well done guys. 👍
It's a Roland 🐀 nice Sunday evening viewing 👌
Those dirty rats, or in an American accent 'doirty rats'.
Best thing to clean leather/vinyl is … Cif liquid cleaner and a cloth 👍
Awesome job guys and an excellent turnaround. These undesirable dwellers caused extensive damage in the wiring loom.
Hi Rob and Chris I had the wiring issues on my wife’s Honda Civic the rodents ate through the wiring of on one of the coil packs remade the wiring now ok. An auto sparks told me Honda use soy based insulation on the wiring. I found a good tip is to take some peppermint oil mixed with water spray this around the affected area rodents hate peppermint you could try an electronic rodent box these scare them away loving the videos as ever all the best Les👍👍
I think a well done is the least we can say to you guys for that one. As soon as i saw the rat/mouse droppings i knew you were in for a time of it. The previous contribution from Mr Larkin has covered that subject very well. I hate them. Anyways for the work/investigation you lads put into it you deserve to make a decent profit from it. Well done.👍
Good job rob and Chris top work 👍👍
What snowfoam do you recommend?
Well done guys . Another one bites the dust and that's a lot of car for the money .
What a turnaround and squeaky clean now🤣🤣
Great video again fellas 👏 that little rodent did some damage and tried your patience but as always Chris and Rob turn it around the BMW has came up good 😊take care fellas stay healthy and lucky looking forward to Wednesday's video 📹 already 😊❤
Mice love the insulation foam in cars and they love the wiring. The coating on the wiring instead of being plastic and nasty, it is now soya based and the rats/mice/voles/squirrels love it. Cars have been written off due to excessive rodent damage to the wiring
As always great Sunday viewing 😊 Vermin do make a mess but as always you guys sorted it out no problem 👍🏻 Summer special ride for someone and hopefully the urine is all gone 🫣
over the years there has always been issues with rodents and wiring, now the main culprit is the insulation that encases the copper core is vegetable based thanks to the country of origin.Rodents have always liked PVC sheathing but they just love this vegetable based insulation no matter what colour. However the problem is not found only in vehicles, freezers and fridges kept in outbuildings are vulnerable also. All this to save fractions of a penny per metre when manufacturers source components.
That was a brilliant video - credit to you both. Yes it did sound awesome.
Bridgend is about 12 miles west of Cardiff so it's not in Somerset as stated. But a very enjoyable series.
Agreed - it's Bridgwater is in Somerset
Bridgewater is about 12 south of Cardiff..
Lovely car lads, it turned out very well. Did you dink the passenger door on the 2 post lift Rob ? sounded a bit like it 😇
The phone will be red hot for that bmw 3,500 for that low mileage example that will be sold very very quickly.keep up the fantastic videos guys ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Proper rapid car ........
Love the investigation work on electrics, learn more by hands on than reading about it cheers Rob and Chris
Rob you have to be careful dealing with rat urine you can get weils disease.
yep that sounds like urine.
I’m a pest controller and I’d say it looks like rat to me , gloves and mask needed.
Very true. My dad's friend died of that after repairing a lawnmower and getting a scratch from the blade.
Rob ya crazy mofo wails disease, ya need be very careful if you digest any you will be really poorly
There's a Rat in the BMW.....
