December 24,2020 I know that this is a very old video but I thank you so very much for making it. I'm just starting to experience menopause and I didn't know what to expect I came across your video about a year ago and I think if I had a just started listening maybe it could have been better for me. Vaginal dryness so real and is nothing to play with I advised that people you know start to listen to their bodies cuz sometimes what you don't pay attention to can just get worse in time.
Hi Moni Unfortunately, preparation for the menopause can often really help as time goes on but, hopefully, you can start from now. You could try the supplement Sea Buckthorn Oil as this is known to be helpful for vaginal dryness. Best Wishes Eileen

Processed food, sugar and alcohol hit me so bad I really can’t have them anymore. I’m goi g through a fatigue stage of menopause and some foods can really make it worse for me. Unfortunately I had to cut dairy out of my diet due to inflammation. Great video.
So, if you are in menopause, you are screwed. No more good coffee, chocolate, fatty foods, a drink, you might as well die. Who wants to eat all this healthy stuff?

I also like 6 dark chocolate almonds like Blue Diamond. That satisfies my sweet tooth. I really try to restrict caffeine as well. I like sea salt.
Very informative video, thank you. I would like to make a comment on saturated fat. Eating organic bacon or sausage can really help with stabilizing insulin and producing hormone leptin that can tremendously manage the hunger. As for dairy products-it is not that "full fat" is a problem, it is also that they affect your estrogen levels and regular GMO dairy contains vegetable oil that hugely impacts cardiovascular health by building plaque with its toxins and in many cases leads to heart attacks. If you want to switch from dairy to no dairy-also only organic oat or coconut due to non organic contain soy and vegetable oil. Good qualitative salt is crucial for the good health due to it contains minerals such as iodine, potassium and others. Lack of it causes fatigue and dizziness as well as it affects the heart rate. Organic pink and sea salt in moderation make a huge difference.
Hi Xiaoya Alcohol of any kind can often make menopause symptoms worse, however, if you enjoy a little wine now and again this is fine. Do try and get organic wine if you can as this is better.

A thousand thanks for all your invaluable information. Lately, I found whenever I eat brown rice my stomach hurts like I am having heart attack. I switched to white rice and no pain. I make sure to have ample veggies along with it though. Is white rice still so bad if I do it that way? Ps: rice is the staple in my country :-)
Hi Dolly Brown rice is better but it does need cooking properly otherwise it can be difficult to digest; I usually cook it until it is quite soft. You also really need to chew it well and that can make quite a difference! However, if you try both of these and they don't help then you would need to go with the white rice. Good idea to have lots of veg with it to replace the lost fibre.
Hi Dolly, Iv also learned and now applying eating first the food with less sugar breakdown in them so it will also help to eat the white rice after you have the better stuff like vegetables or meat, this reduces any sugar spikes. I have found that grapefruit has helped me alot in reducing any hot flash or night sweat. I realized this accidently by seeing ripe grapefruits growing in my area, picking them and then saw my symptoms reduce, then I heard a fertility doctor recommend it and Im sure Eileen has mentioned it too. Thanks to your videos I eat avocado and egg for breakfast.
Basically as we get aged our looks goes 1st, then all the tasty foods have to leave. Less salt, no sugar, no spicy food, no coffee or tea, not even milk is good. Not cold drink, no alcohol, not even white bread and white rice. Thanks for your valuable information. I will try let's see.
Hi M.G You're welcome, just remember you can have the odd treat, life is too short to deny yourself everything! Hi, I just have a quick question, I always had a good appetite but since officially starting menopause, I have no desire to eat and after eating sometimes I feel nauseous, I also have an underactive thyroid...any advice please.
Hi Teresa Although this isn't very common, it can happen to some women. It is important to get this checked by your doctor first just in case it is not menopause related. Also ask your doctor to make sure that your thyroid medication is at the right dose; the thyroid gets easily unbalanced in the menopause and needs monitoring regularly.
I have been this was also, it's interesting. I'm 47 & have been told many times I'd probably start menopause phase before age 50. I've had many perimenopause symptoms & issues for last 10 years but signficant in last 5 years. I haven't had a period now for several months (not pregnant, tubes are tied). But I've had new symptoms for several months where I just feel nauseous, especially if I look at certain things, smell certain things, after eating, etc as if I were pregnant. I do know heart conditions can definitely cause this as it happened to my mother & she has serious cardiovascular issues, heart failure, etc & the cardiologist stated it was due to poor blood flow & other cardiovascular processes. She has clogged arteries in the abdomen as well. But I've recently gone through a complete work up (chest xray, abdominal pelvic CT scan, upper endoscopy with biopsy, cardiac, blood tests, etc) to rule out any possible issues. Everything is normal. Other than now some of the small fibroids I've had for years are now calcified. I am hypothyroid (cancer twice, no thyroid & lymphnodes removed) in 2012 & 2013. My thyroid levels changed a tiny bit, so normal. I'm thinking I'm going through the menopausal process. My hair has become more dry, my skin is dryer especially around my eyes like what seems suddenly overnight I've noticed crepier skin around my eyes. Just other symptoms to. My mother thinks it's all "the change". My cholesterol levels suddenly went up. I was even checked for Covid antibodies & that was negative. Some people are experiencing weird things after having Covid but I've thankfully never had Covid. But it's like some food is no longer appealing to me, I don't have an appetite alot of times, just different. I have a gynecologist appointment here soon & will discuss my concerns with my gynecologist. But the last several years my period changed. I would have regular cycles then very irregular cycles. Heavy gushes then normal bleeding. Night sweats, quick weight gain, other symptoms. Some months I'd bleed normal like 5 days then other times it'd be 12 days.

But Im not giving up basmati rice, curry and Indian sweet. I'll eat in moderation. Does these symptoms go away when you take HRT and when do menopause end so we can start eating normally

What I eat salty foods my arteries in my arms start to move around and I'm baffled I don't know what that is and Bone pains My Bones start to everybody too much salty like processed food and muscle start to move what is that I'm confused
Hi Kimberly High salt foods can quickly cause dehydration and that can affect your circulation and dehydration can cause inflammation in the joints so may be a factor in your joint pains. Maybe make sure that you are drinking plenty of plain water and see if that helps. Best Wishes Eileen

Hi Sangeeta Unfortunately, we are unable to make comments about a diagnosis by your doctor, sorry. If, after a physical examination and taking notes on your health and lifestyle, your doctor has come to a conclusion and either diagnosed you or prescribed a treatment plan for you then we do advise you to follow this. If you have any queries about your health or treatment plan you do need to go back and ask them to explain this further for you. I am sorry that I am unable to help in this instance.
Hi Irene We call this fenugreek and there are a lot of known benefits so if you find it helpful there is no reason why you can't add it to your diet. Best Wishes Eileen
Hi Terri Most ready made flavoured yogurts contain sugar or artificial sweeteners or flavourings which are not good for you but you can make your own. Just get a plain, organic yogurt then you can add natural flavourings such as fruits, berries, nuts or seeds or even some cocoa powder for a chocolate taste. Best Wishes Eileen
Hi Susan I don't recommend it as it is very processed (just Google to see how soya milk is made!). Other non dairy milks such as almond or oat milk are slightly less processed so I tend to recommend these if organic dairy is not suitable. Best Wishes Eileen
Hi Neo We do need a certain amount of salt in our diet, especially if you get regular sweats. Sea salt is much healthier than table salt so I would always recommend this kind but in moderation, of course! Best Wishes Eileen
Most women do find that symptoms ease over time but if you still have symptoms or they are getting worse after 5 years or more, it is wise to see your doctor. Other health issues can often prolong menopause symptoms or cause ones that are identical so a general health check may be advisable Best Wishes Eileen
I tend not to recommend it unless you can get a water extraction brand. To decaf coffee, a chemical extraction process is used and this may leave some of the chemicals in the coffee! Best Wishes Eileen
Hi Maria I tend not to recommend it as it can be rather restrictive, however, if you wish to try it just monitor how you feel. If your energy levels go down, you feel bad, symptoms get worse or you get new ones then it is advisable to stop. I usually recommend a general low carb diet with plenty of protein, healthy fats and veg but with leeway for other foods if needed.

Thank you.....you’re awesome
Thank you Liz!
Thanks a lot! By the way! You look gorgeous pretty 😍! More Power
Water helps 👍

Is methi seed is good during menopause
Hi Irene
We call this fenugreek and there are a lot of known benefits so if you find it helpful there is no reason why you can't add it to your diet.

I’m wondering if I can eat flavored yogurt
Hi Terri
Most ready made flavoured yogurts contain sugar or artificial sweeteners or flavourings which are not good for you but you can make your own. Just get a plain, organic yogurt then you can add natural flavourings such as fruits, berries, nuts or seeds or even some cocoa powder for a chocolate taste.

Hi. I`m that rare person, who can eat up to 10 Medjol dates at once. But these are much better than sugar, of course. 😋
That's true!
Do you ship to the US?
Sorry, no, Sharlene, what are you looking for and I may be able to suggest something similar that you can get locally?

@@AvogelCoUk was looking at your electrolytes drink.
I have chicory instead of coffee.
Fantastic!
Is organic soya milk bad? I read so much conflicting information
Hi Susan
I don't recommend it as it is very processed (just Google to see how soya milk is made!). Other non dairy milks such as almond or oat milk are slightly less processed so I tend to recommend these if organic dairy is not suitable.

Is sea salt good for menopause or is it bad for menopause
Hi Neo
We do need a certain amount of salt in our diet, especially if you get regular sweats. Sea salt is much healthier than table salt so I would always recommend this kind but in moderation, of course!

Does it ever end?
Most women do find that symptoms ease over time but if you still have symptoms or they are getting worse after 5 years or more, it is wise to see your doctor. Other health issues can often prolong menopause symptoms or cause ones that are identical so a general health check may be advisable

@@AvogelCoUk Thank you for your answer!
Is decaf coffee fine?
I tend not to recommend it unless you can get a water extraction brand. To decaf coffee, a chemical extraction process is used and this may leave some of the chemicals in the coffee!

Your Bmi ? Equal to Hot flashes ?
I've not seen a specific connection Maria but being overweight could put extra pressure on the body making symptoms worse.

I'm going on a keto diet is it okay during menopause?
Hi Maria
I tend not to recommend it as it can be rather restrictive, however, if you wish to try it just monitor how you feel. If your energy levels go down, you feel bad, symptoms get worse or you get new ones then it is advisable to stop. I usually recommend a general low carb diet with plenty of protein, healthy fats and veg but with leeway for other foods if needed.
@@AvogelCoUk thank you so much for answering my questions
It’s a fad which promotes heavy animal protein that clogs arteries and harms the environment not to mention. Promotes animal abuse
Do you have medical credentials ?
Hi
I have worked for A Vogel for 23 years as a product and health adviser and the last 6 years researching the menopause and working with menopausal women who come to us for advice and help. I also present menopause workshops to organisations such as local councils and businesses and post the weekly video blog on UA-cam. Plus, I have experienced the menopause myself!

A.Vogel UK so you’re Not a medical professional * why not present all options to some of these miserable women ? Has any of your research led you to HRT by any chance ? I’m sad to hear how may of these women are suffering
A.Vogel UK every woman experience the menopause and its FOR the rest of her life !
👍
Just stop eating
👍☀️🙏
Might as well not live if u can’t eat most things
There are many other amazing foods for women if they find these things make their menopause worse. Many women feel so much better when focusing on healthier foods and removing the ones that make their symptoms worse.
